Exploring New Scents #14 | Zoologist: Cockatiel

I love a good gourmand, and was excited to try this one due to the listed notes. I will admit, the first blast was a bit unexpected and I began to question my choices, but this doubt was short lived as the the tart note of rhubarb came to the forefront followed by a hint of champagne. It's very tart at first , but this sharpness is quickly complimented by sweet and powdery notes.

I can see why Zoologist chose the cockatiel to represent this fragrance. It's bright, colorful and lively. After around 10-15 minutes the image of a freshly cleaned bird cage comes to mind along with the powdery scent of a colorful birds wings flapping happily. This scent makes me feel joyful. it reminds me of a lively spring day after cleaning the apartment. Happy retro music is playing in the background as a rhubarb pie slowly bakes in the oven, a cockatiel's happy song chirping in the background.

After an hour or so, the rhubarb takes a step back,  especially on clothing. Cockatiel becomes a beautiful, creamy, strawberry, raspberry champagne ice cream with floral notes. So beautiful and unique. This one never fully loses the powdery nature, just like the wings of a beautiful bird waiting to groove to the retro song on a spring day.

I can see how this one could potentially be cloying to some. It's in the same category of of Pink Sugar--it's very sweet! Even still, I feel that it's perfectly crafted so as not to cross the threshold of too much, but I love sweet gourmands so please take that in consideration

After 4 or 5 hours Cockatiel becomes very light, leaving a trace of raspberry, champagne jam. Yes, please! That being said. As with all Zoologist scents, your chemistry will play a BIG part in how the scent presents, more than most brands from my perspective, so always try a sample. Blind buys are not recommended. I do feel that Cockatiel is more of a feminine leaning scent but as always, wear what you want. Life is too short not to wear what you want!

I really adore this fragrance and would give Cockatiel an 8.5/10.0. It's beautiful and takes me back to carefree spring/summers of the past. It truly makes me happy.
