Exploring New Scents #9 | Zoologist: Koala
Wait a minute? Do I have a cold, or is this Koala from Zoologist? This is a sneaky little scent. At first, it's a very strong medicinal scent of menthol and eucalyptus. These are two scent profiles I don't usually much care for but as we all know Zoologist can morph quickly and this one does, so if you don't like the initial scent, Just wait!
If you wait it out, the Menthol and Eucalyptus will calm a bit as the honey, geranium and incense start to peek through. But then a strange new note creeps forward and the Koala's hiney makes an appearance. Hello animal note! It isn't too strong and it's only noticeable if you are nose to skin, so no worries if you don't like animal notes as the scent of a honeyed incense sweeps it away. So long and farewell stank.
After an hour, you will be treated to a glorious fresh soapy eucalyptus, with a touch of amber, honey and incense, well at least on my chemistry. So clean and so delightful. It just keeps getting better. The notes don't change much on the clothing so you will be treated to incense, honey and eucalyptus there, too! You just keep winning!
After 4 hours, Koala is beginning to say night, night and is wearing off. The menthol and eucalyptus are still present along with a light honey and floral scent. But the incense add a nice darkness to the light fragrance. On the shirt, it's a creamy incense. Amazing.
This was an interesting scent. I normally really dislike menthol and eucalyptus, but Koala changed my mind. Much like when I was a kid, I hated tomatoes--despised! But then I learned that if put into salsa, it was amazing. Well, Koala made menthol and eucalyptus my new salsa, and I am ecstatic!
Koala is mid tier for projection for the Zoologist scents. To really make it pop, you will need to spritz around 4 solid sprays, but the first 30 minutes will make you question your choices. But if you hold out, lucky you, because it will then morph into a gorgeous clean, happy scent.
If I had to rate this scent, I would give it a 8.5/10. For a perfume to change my mind on two notes I usually dislike, that's an achievement. To make me want to buy a bottle is unheard of, but here we are. Add it to the list, because I love this one!
