A walk through the foggy pinewoods.
This is the fragrance that pulled me into the world of perfumery. As soon as I sprayed it I was transported into my favourite forest in a foggy, overcast morning. The smell of rotting leaves and growing mushrooms hanging in the air, the sharp cold mixed with the green of the pine trees. I was not prepared for a scent to have this impact on me, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Every time I spray it I'm back in the forest, isolated and tranquil and still. It's almost meditative. To this day it's my favourite fragrance and one my collection would not be complete without.
Newspaper printing press in the 1920's
It's a rainy London morning, fog sits thick in the air mixing with the first of the chimney smoke from waking houses. It's still dark outside, but the warehouse where the newspaper is printed has been at work for hours already. Inside, the fog is replaced with tobacco smoke. The mineral, balsamic smell printing ink fills the space together with the thick wood of the assembling tables. Leather aprons and gloves move to the internal rythm of the work, rolling the ink over the printing trays, pressing the pages, gathering the warm sheets of paper.
For an actual review, this is an extremely particular scent profile. It's strongly mineralic, thick with ink and tar and incense, on a resinous wood base. I personally don't detect any sweetness (which for me is a plus) and only the tiniest bit of spicy freshness from lavender and ginger. This is not a fresh fragrance whatsoever.
It's truly an incredible experience. I'm excited to try the rest of Beaufort's offerings.
Devilish spices and beautiful florals
This is truly the most amazing spiced floral I have encountered. Unapologetically biting, with a boozy undertone and I swear some animalic musk down in the depths even though the notes don't state it. It's astringent, with only the lightest sweetness coming from the florals, and a bit smoky. It feels both warm and cold, going from one to the other as it evolves, and the interplay is addicting.
Another scent from LI that embodies its name perfectly. I think I can finally call myself a fan of this house.

I had high hopes for the black tea note here. A powdery, creamy tea scent? Sign me up!
No. That is not what this fragrance is. This is chalk and shoe wax, the orris mixes weird with the musk and moss and creates a fog that takes you back to 2012 when everyone was doing the cinnamon challenge, except you're doing it with concrete powder. It smells synthetic in a heated plastic way.

The perfect incense?
This fragrance might be my favourite take on a modern incense so far. The green, fresh opening blends perfectly with the spice and resin of the heart and base. The smoke of the incense doesn't feel choking or overpowering, but energising and uplifting. The whole composition feels like burning mint, smoked and astringent yet cold. It's deceptively light but persistent, it lasts forever on clothes and projects more than you'd think.
Personally, I don't feel this fragrance needs a certain event to be justified, but it does require a good amount of confidence because it projects and you will be perceived. If you feel comfortable smelling like the stones of a church cellar, this will do you wonders.
