Summer!
I love wearing this on a hot day, or when I am pretending it should be a hot day. It smells like Marseille soap (you know when you know) but I also smell sand/beach. So it is a clean smell, but the 'sand' gives it depth and takes you to... well maybe to Marseille (the city). There is a hidden edginess to this fragrance.
It also evokes the feeling of a laundrette, where they use detergent different from your own.
If you can't decide if you want to go to the beach or to the forest, do as I do: spray one arm with
Monocle Scent One: Hinoki and the other with
Marseille and you can switch between the two instantaneously. Magic!

pencil shavings
I really like this scent. It's not too present and it's not great on the sillage side of things, but that actually suits me well since I don't wear perfumes to be smelled by others.
Think: shavings of pencils. Think: a wooden recorder that you used to play on when you were a child. To me it even evokes the feeling of a sunny room in a school, sort of a calm sense of being taken care of. Maybe that's just nostalgia, which is super personal, but yeah, that's what I get from this.
Obviously I bought a bottle.

Want to keep smelling this
First I got a sample of Hot Cotton and I could not keep myself from sniffing at it so I decided to get a full bottle. Good idea.
Hot Cotton smells like it says on the tin: like a hot iron on a clean shirt. This is what it does, it is incredibly realistic.
But it also smells like stepping into a tailor's shop in a cold country far far away, where you don't speak the language but you sense you are safe.
I think the smell of 'hotness' is due to the use of aldambre but that's not all of it. Designer Spyros Drosopoulos really worked some magic here. I can't recommend it enough.
