Spring Pear
It's quite strange. In summer, when everything is green and blooming and it's warm, sunny, tra-la-la... I buy and enjoy the warm, heavy, spicy scents. I don't wear them in public. But I long for them and look forward to winter.
Now, in winter (well, today it really is winter and not just autumn), which will probably last a few more months, I find that the scents that excite me are light, buoyant, fruity, citrus-crisp, bright-floral, spring- and summer-like.

I am particularly taken with this one. The best spring pear (which is nonsense, pears are harvested at the earliest in August)! Not a sweet, ripe pear, no, it doesn't get crunchier than this! Green, fresh, tart pears lying in equally green, equally fresh grass. Sunshine! Peaches! The Bulgarian rose doesn't bother me at all right now, as I can only perceive it very faintly, not a lush, heavy rosewater that dominates everything else, but rather a delicate little rose, barely in full bloom. The vanilla is also not sweet and heavy, but rather a tiny teaspoon of vanilla sugar (vanilla, not vanillin sugar).

Maybe I should eat more fruit...

Oh, yes. I asked my boyfriend: "What does this smell like?" His answer was: "Watermelon?"

Give it a chance!
They sold this fragrance at TK Maxx in the clearance sale for a bargain price. I thought to myself, I can always sell it on the bay without a big loss, it was that cheap.
During the first test, I wanted to do just that - I even put it directly here in the Souk.
Floral-fruity, indeed. Quite nondescript, quite boring. Mandarin, slightly sour grapefruit, and powdery iris.

I was sitting at work, sleeves rolled up (my part-time job boss is a cold person and always heats the place very well) and wondered where this wonderful, woody-spicy, slightly herbaceous-green scent was coming from. It was coming from my left forearm, and it was this seemingly very dull perfume! Now I smelled the olive leaves, a hint (not too much, I don’t like that) of patchouli and cypress. Very Mediterranean. It reminds me a bit of My Manifesto, which I once owned and liked very much.
People, give this fragrance a chance, because the base is truly wonderful, quite extraordinary compared to the boring top note - and it lasts. The scent lasted easily for eight hours on me. Not everyone can do that!

In the evening, I took it out again from the Souk. I’m keeping it. For that Mediterranean holiday feeling in any weather and at any time of year.

Omma Änne
When my grandma - "Omma Änne" - was still alive, I sometimes visited her with my cousin, who is six years older than me. She owned two children's books: "Struwwelpeter" and the female counterpart, "Struwwelliese." I knew these books by heart. There was nothing else around. In the garden behind the house, the paths were lined with turned-over green glass bottles. Beans were grown there, among other things. Typical Ruhr area. It was actually always quite boring at her place.
Sometimes, when Omma Änne was in a good mood, she would take something from the shelf above the door (we kids couldn't reach it) - sweetened condensed milk in tubes. Today it's sold as "Milchmädchen," but I don't know if it was called that back then. We got a tablespoon. Nothing more. I loved that taste; it was heavenly for me.

And just like this sweetened condensed milk in tubes smells, Sweet Milk. Genius. I am five years old again, or six, seven, or eight (after that, Omma Änne moved to a senior apartment, and there was no shelf above the kitchen door anymore).
I can't really detect much more, no bergamot, no heliotrope, maybe a bit of star anise. I can smell vanilla anyway. Sweetened condensed milk also smells a bit like vanilla.

But that's enough; it's completely sufficient. Although I can actually imagine Sweet Milk layered well with various fragrances. Brit is good, I've noticed, or maybe with something spicy...

But sometimes, such memories are simply beautiful. Nothing else needs to be involved...

Homemade Christmas Hot Chocolate
In search of a nice chocolate scent (not Angel, I can't stand that), I came across this one. Vegan, by the way. Hmm. No animals in it - haha... Not tested on animals. That's good too.
Dark chocolate, 85% cocoa content, little sugar, and very Christmassy spices, primarily cinnamon, in the top note. Along with almonds, actually more like amaretto.
It really smells like I have a cup of cocoa (the real, cooked kind, not instant!) in front of me. I also like cinnamon in my drink. During Christmas time, a splash of amaretto... that tastes and smells good too!
The scent doesn't really develop much, the almond almost disappears and the vanilla comes through - it still smells of dark chocolate and spices. And it stays that way.
The longevity is decent for an EDT, the scent lasts at least from noon until the next morning in my hair.
Occasionally quite nice to wear. But it's not an all-round chocolate, rather Christmas chocolate. So it's also good that the bottle only holds 30 ml.

Light in the Dark?
Why this fragrance has "Night" in its name is a mystery to me. Because there is nothing dark here; on the contrary, everything is radiant, shining, bright. Perhaps it is meant to illuminate the night? Well, probably the namers just couldn't think of anything better, as obsession is not usually associated with something bright and clear.
I mean, it doesn't matter. I still like it. It was a blind buy, as it is now rarely available for testing in regular stores.
Obsession Night starts off with refreshing citrus fruits. I could have sworn they are lemons or limes. So probably extremely sour oranges.
The top note lasts a long time, then it moves on to white flowers and rose. I'm not a fan of lily of the valley; in certain combinations, they are even a deal-breaker. But here they fit well into the overall picture. They go well with the citrus fruits. I can also detect jasmine and rose.
But overall, it remains quite fresh and clear.
The base is slightly woody and spicy. Vanilla is not too dominant.

Overall, it's a fairly clear, woody, not overly sweet perfume. I only have dark memories of the original, but that one should have been titled "Night" much sooner.
It could have easily been a standalone fragrance. Definitely not unsexy, but much more suitable for everyday wear than the actual Obsession, and I would say it is wearable year-round, except in the deepest winter.
