Christmas with Cleopatra
It is an unusually cold day in early summer. So it’s time to pull out my warm bomber jacket with faux fur again. Huh? It smells so pleasant, delicious, and cozy. I smell the shoulder area of the jacket every few seconds, where I always spray my fragrances, but I just can’t figure out which scent it is. So I leave the house, now a bit late, still deep in my thoughts. Could it be a laundry detergent? No, that can’t be, it’s too gourmand. Did I spray a sample on myself back then? Unlikely, I usually find them too precious to use. I just had to know which fragrance smells so good on me. Why isn’t this my signature scent yet?
Even though my ego will be very disappointed about this, the process of elimination is all that’s left to identify the scent. So I go, heavily disappointed in myself, to Parfumo, open my collection, and exclude all the perfumes from my collection that it cannot be. And in the end, only one remains: Khaltat Night!
Now that I knew, I could also smell out the fragrance DNA. However, when I spray it on myself, I perceive it as much sharper and overwhelming, which completely disappears with the dry-dry-dry-down on the jacket. The much bigger realization, though: It lasts forever, even after months it still lingers on clothes.
Now let’s talk about the scent. I tested it on my hand at a friend’s place in winter, and when I rode my bike home in the dark at -3°, I had to smell my hand every few seconds, and for that brief moment, I was in a dreamland:
Me, my wife Cleopatra, the three wise men, and my brother Aladdin are celebrating Christmas in a cozy and warm palace. It may sound a bit strange, but that’s exactly my association.
It gives one, similar to Angels Share, that cozy (Christmassy) feeling. However, this one has a more oriental character due to the very prominent cinnamon note. In my opinion, this is made significantly more authentic and mystical by the underlying cherry/apple note, compared to other cinnamon-heavy fragrances.
That’s exactly what I was looking for in a fragrance. This uncompromising association with the enchanted Orient. Long story short: On the way home from my friend’s place, my decision to buy it was already made. Especially for the price, you get an incredibly wonderful scent with a very high-quality bottle that reflects the experience of the fragrance.

Enchanted Oriental Library
I happened to come across a sample of this fragrance and had no idea what to expect, I didn't know any of the notes, nothing.
I sprayed it on and was immediately enchanted. It transports you on Aladdin's carpet into an enchanted childhood memory.
It gives you a feeling of security like in a dream. I've never smelled anything like it.
I'm not usually into oriental fragrances, but the burnt sugar combines so well with the oud that it's pleasant for my European nose.
Unfortunately, the journey ended after just a few hours, as I was awakened by a musty note. What a shame, I would have liked to dream a little longer.
