Who am I - and if so, how many?
Admittedly, I have never read this book by Mr Precht, or even dealt with this work in any way, but nevertheless this title appeared to me in my mind's eye after I had bought a bottle of Égoïste.
I have never experienced a perfume that shows so many faces as this one. (Admittedly, I have not yet dealt with as many as a large number of Parfumo members have certainly done)
I cannot say with absolute accuracy whether this phenomenon is simply due to different daytime temperatures, or whether my olfactory organ simply interprets the scent molecules very subjectively.
Fact is: on my skin Égoïste develops mainly in three different ways.
The first would be rose and something woody
The second one would be towards vanilla
And the third one would be towards cinnamon.
The third type of development is certainly the least common. It is also the most interesting, because the cinnamon does not come creeping and slowly, but suddenly bursts out tumultuously and quite audibly.
The process is comparable to the following situation: You have invited 7 people in the morning. 6 come one by one and say goodbye again after a few hours each. The guests have left and they have put their house in order and now want to recover from the demanding day. Suddenly the door is unexpectedly broken open and the 7th guest stands there. Surprisingly he's coming after all! Unexpectedly and alone on a wide corridor he suddenly stands in the room.
After an initial surprise, invite him in and let the day end in a pleasant atmosphere

Whether one is really an egoist when one wears Égoïste I cannot judge completely.
Because when I put it on, I love to smell it in almost all its facets. I probably like him 9 times out of 10.
But as so often, there is unfortunately also a "but". There are days I can't do anything with it. I just don't feel comfortable there. I just smell something sweet and spicy and I ask myself: Why did you buy this again, no one can stand it?
But since I have never been negatively addressed to Égoïste I doubt that all my fellow human beings feel bothered by this scent.

I would rather say the content of the vial is the egoist who does what he wants and wants to show all his personalities!

About accepting advice and the courage to try something new
A little more than two years ago, for whatever reason, I was like, "Boy, you need a second perfume!" (My parents were also thankful that I could once again express a concrete Christmas wish)
So quickly into this shop, which I always pronounced in my younger years like the name of two American actors (father and son).
Once there, I took off in high spirits

After five minutes of testing, I had the desire to forget the whole thing.
I just couldn't smell anything anymore. Don't ask me what smells I was expecting from my nose in such a short time, it was simply too much.
So first go home and think about a new plan of action, how I could bring this topic "new scent" down most elegantly for me now

So I rummaged in the computer between my ears for the master plan and remembered the words of my uncle: "The fascination with YouTube comes from the fact that no matter what topic there is at least one review

So start your computer, open Youtube, enter "perfume" in the search bar, watch a strange guy who says: "Bleu de Chanel as eau de parfum, is the best perfume if you want to own exactly one", go to the store, spray on test strips, sniff at home, test on my skin the next day, forward it to the parents, get a present.
Actually quite simple if you look back at the whole thing.

And so is Bleu de Chanel. It's about as stringent (if you can say that about perfume) as I finally decided on this blue bottle. Simple calculation!

The fragrance itself should actually be familiar to many. Citrus and wood are successful in this case, although I actually find it difficult to explicitly sniff the notes listed. Only sandalwood I think I can recognize.
In fact, it doesn't really matter, because in my opinion, the only thing that was intended for the blue series was the following: Something that smells good and that you can wear forever. The main thing is nothing fancy!
And they actually did it.
Since Chanel is on it, the word "wealthy" is automatically associated with it.

Let's get to the bottom line:
Bleu de Chanel (even the name is simple) is a solid fragrance, no corners, no edges, fits everywhere and can be worn at any time of day or night. If not overdosed (apparently this has already happened to me), for most people you smell good enough in everyday life without attracting negative attention.
Whether you're only 18 or already 80 years old, all years of construction can use this fragrance with confidence.

Whether I'm satisfied: Yeah, I'll probably buy it later too
It was a right decision to listen to my uncle first and then to strangers from a screen.

And yet in retrospect I sometimes think to myself: A little more courage would not have done any harm!

Uncreative entry
My entry into the circle of perfume owners, and accordingly my first comment on that very fragrance.

Even though Sun Men wasn't the first perfume to touch my skin, it was the first one I bought as a bottle.
This happened almost 5 years ago and it took almost 3 years until another bottle was added. Accordingly, Sun Men was my "signed fragrance" for a long time, which could have been due to the lack of alternatives on the shelf.

Why this one?
Well surely it was because I (from wherever) had a sample of it in my hands.
It could also be that my nose hair didn't die off immediately, like with the old 4711 bottle of my grandmother who was still flying around somewhere with my parents, that is to say I liked the smell.
And besides, as almost always in life, money played a role.

To the fragrance pyramid:
I can understand the prelude with the bergamot. Now it's getting trickier. Rosemary or cardamom and later nutmeg, I imagine to recognize. Maybe I'm just doing that because my brain says it has to be inside, so you smell that now too!
Since I don't have a garden, nor am I a botanist, I can't tell if you can see the Frangipani now or not.
A woody and sweetish base note, in my humble opinion can not be denied.
The fragrance process is relatively fluid, without my nose feeling surprised by the new fragrance components.

As already enough previous speakers remarked, and which they are also absolutely right: he never really gets off on it, wants you to feel comfortable, like on a beautiful day at the beach (according to Wikipedia Calone is also supposed to be the smell of fresh sea air).
Therefore, it is understandable and not reprehensible that some only call it a summer or holiday scent.

But now I can't get around finding out for myself: why not wear it in winter for this very reason? (Appropriately, it was already a rainy January day when I bought this perfume.)
One usseliger day in November, can already press times the mood. There help me then also times 2 sprayers from the transparent bottle.
Suddenly the mood improves, the cloudy thoughts clear up and a sunny disposition appears.

Otherwise, of course, also a real T-shirt scent for sunny weather, which I would not necessarily wear in a conservative law firm. But who am I to think that I am conservative lawyers.... Let's not do this!

How do I close the first comment?
I'm trying to bridge the gap to the title: certainly not the most creative, loudest, most sophisticated, artistic or popular thing the perfume world has produced. This was certainly not the intention either. The puristic bottle fits the content.

In retrospect I still think to myself: With the purchase everything done right, because you should start small but solid!
