One of the Best Fragrances of All Time
When I first smelled Chanel Platinum at Douglas in the summer of 2005, I initially set aside the scent strip my then-girlfriend gave me. I was looking for something that smelled like Heaven by Chopard, but different. Heaven had been my absolute favorite fragrance until then, but somehow it had worn off for me.
Now I can hardly believe these words, as Heaven (a Century men's fragrance) has been discontinued. But that's how it is; you only miss things when they are no longer within reach, and then you suddenly realize what you had.
I needed something new. The 90s were over, I was 29, my hair was short again, and a fresh breeze was simply necessary. I was at Douglas with Claudia, sniffing everything that looked fresh and aquatic.
..."But smell again, this is really good".
So I smelled again. Hmmm...That's true, it's not bad at all. ...Hey, this really smells good. ...Wow, this is really amazing.
For a good ten years, Chanel Platinum Egoiste held its place as my signature scent before the search began anew. The search for the perfect fragrance, or the perfect wave as surfers say. The relationship broke apart, but Platinum lasted a long time. However, the association with the woman was already too strong back then for me to want to continue using the scent. And now I find myself searching again. But it's already been 5 years. There are hardly any fragrances that smell as balanced and perfect as CPE.
I'm wearing it right now, and I have to say that unfortunately, the fragrance has been reformulated. It still smells exactly like 2005, but it's weaker today. The projection and sillage have diminished. When you wore the scent in the early 2000s, it easily lasted 12 hours, and women would approach you outside the club because of it.
Upon spraying, a cool, luxurious lavender note spreads, with a hint of neroli. Slightly soapy and metallic, minimally floral, but not feminine. Anyone who wears Platinum Egoiste smells damn good.
My ex wanted to devour me every time because this perfume is so good, and women randomly approached me about the fragrance. When I smell it somewhere, I immediately think, "Man, he smells good...Platinum, good taste." Timeless, luxurious, masculine, and casually in the top 25 of the best fragrances of all time. Anyone who has never smelled this fragrance should definitely do so; it is an incredibly good perfume. I envy anyone who can discover it anew for themselves now.
