Shower Gel Freshness? Absolutely Not!
At the beginning of August, I went to my favorite perfume shop with the firm intention of finally adding Creed Viking to my collection. Once there, I had Viking sprayed on me to be completely sure about the purchase.
But somehow, Viking was not quite what I remembered from last time. Apparently, it showed on my face that I wasn't entirely satisfied, and the extremely nice lady said she had something for me that she thought might harmonize better than Viking and me.
She then asked if I knew Parfums de Marly and if she could spray a fresh and summery men's fragrance called Sedley on me.
Hopeful and excited, I agreed, and I was not disappointed!
I have read some comments here mentioning a shower gel-like freshness. Sedley is clearly much more than that; you can tell that only the highest quality ingredients are used at de Marly. The freshness is balanced and juicy, and as cedar and sandalwood join in later, it creates a masculine magnum opus.
A very profound summer scent with a good sillage and excellent longevity. I noticed a spray of Sedley on a shirt even a week later.
Don't be misled into thinking it's a 0815 shower gel scent; it is definitely more than that. Try it and see for yourself.

Italy in a Beautiful Bottle
With Bergamotto di Calabria la Spugnatura, the first Acqua di Parma came into my collection through a happy coincidence.
I received a sample of it from my last perfume purchase at my regular perfumery, which I happened to try on one of the first, and few, warmer days of the year.
On the morning of a sunny day, I had to be quick, and I didn't have time to think much about what to wear, so I wisely reached into my sample drawer and pulled out Bergamotto di Calabria.
I sprayed it on and rushed off to work. In the car and during the first hour at work, I experienced a strong citrus freshness that, for my taste, couldn't have been any stronger, as I could feel my mouth watering. But then, by early afternoon, the citrus transformed in the drydown into a gentle blend of bergamot and masculine woods.
It remained like this for the rest of the day; the longevity is excellent for an EdT, and the sillage, while not overwhelming, is still present.
After that, I bought the bottle and have been very satisfied ever since. Definitely try it out if you're a bergamot fan like I am :)
