Exquisite

Super classy linear bergamot/iris/vetiver. Superbly balanced and you certainly notice that only the highest class raw materials are used. Some resemblance with Voyage d,Hermès, but where the pepper is toned down in lieu of vetiver, which in my mind gives a more harmonious balance. Exquisite, refined and pure class.

Niche exception from LV line

In my opinion this scent is the most intriguing and niche smelling from the whole Louis Vuitton lineup(okay maybe nuit de feu can compete) It’s name may not be 100% accurate, because I wouldn’t name it a thunderstorm. More like a warm drizzle in a green forest.

Perfectly blended patchouli with vetiver that make it less dark create a great combo. It really gives of that earthy yet clean vibe. Earthiness isn’t overwhelming or dirty, it’s got that refreshing twist thanks to bergamot and vetiver. If I had to compare it to a different scent I would say that it’s more refined and even more green terre d Hermes.
Great composition for those who like classical green perfumes and require them to be more niche and unique.

Intriguing but unremarkable

Opens with a wet earthy citrus. It's nice but not as memorable or striking as the greats like Afternoon Swim or Imagination.

Dry down reminds me a LOT of LV Sur La Route. Musky earth with some citrus to add a little zest. Again, it's intriguing, but it's just not something I would spend money on.

At the same time, some LV fragrances like Meteore don't smell too great on my skin but I can see the appeal. Maybe this one is similar, and would smell better on some other people. So if you love Meteore, then maybe try this one. For me, it's gonna be a no go.

As for the intention of the fragrance, the opening does have that "thunderstorm" essence a little bit with a sort of wet dirt/grass from the vetiver. But it's completely different from something like Le Labo Baie 19 which does smell a lot more like a rainstorm. So if you're looking for petrichor, look elsewhere. If you want something earthy, grassy, with a little bit of citrus, give it a shot.

These two are a dream!

Combining Orage with Maison Margiela's Sailing Day is a dream combination. Throughout the day I was pleasantly surprised by the splashy aromas these two brought about. Wonderful combination. Additionally, the longevity of Orage is what's left after Sailing Day has dried down. It's like having the ocean with you.

Thunderstorm? More like a light drizzle

Orage means thunderstorm in French, meaning this fragrance is a recreation of petrichor, the scent of newly-fallen rain. The main note here is vetiver, the sharp and earthy note so prevalent in perfumery these days. In the opening, bergamot provides lift similar to the grapefruit-vetiver combination in L'Immensité but here the citrus is much more subtle and the vetiver is the note that shines. Quickly the grassy fresh notes devolve into soft iris/ambrette and musk and the ephemeral fragrance dies off. I would have liked a sharper and longer-lasting green note, and maybe more complexity, rather than the dour musk that this scent turns into. Definitely not the intensity of a thunderstorm.
