Wow!!!!!
Even though Parfums de Marly is generally a top niche brand with hardly any olfactory misfires, Carlisle is for me the absolute No. 1.
You rarely find an oriental fragrance that is as beautiful, high-quality, and above all, wearable. Or at least, for me, it ranks in the top 3 of oriental scents. Top 2 and 1 are shared by two Xerjoffs.

Bottle:
What a beautiful, matte bottle. High-quality as always, with a good spray head and a heavy cap.
It fits well in the hand as always and could also serve as a bludgeon. :-)

Scent:
Reddish brown, warm spicy, heavenly, opulent, powerful, sexy, and unique. That’s how I perceive the fragrance and that’s how I enjoy it.

Price:
300.- for 125ml. That’s quite a hefty sum. But the scent is worth every single cent.

H/S
A beast that blasts endlessly. That’s how I like it.

Anyone who loves oriental fragrances cannot miss out on Carlisle.

A worthy successor to “Dior Homme Intense.”
I have been wearing DHI for a few years now. It has really grown on me during this time. No one in this price range could match it. Except for “The One” and “Valentino Intense,” which came dangerously close.
And yet, I always found myself reaching for it and almost ignoring the others. However, in the last 2 years, this Dior has unfortunately lost some of its power and intensity.
I have no idea if a reformulation has taken place or if the quality has fallen victim to Dior's cost-cutting measures.
But with “Gentlemen Reserve Privee,” a wonderful flanker has hit the market. For me, it is an absolutely worthy successor on par with DHI.
Incredibly elegant and with great performance. To me, it feels a bit drier than DHI.
For fans of powdery iris scents, it is an absolute must.
And for those undecided, it makes a great gift. A blind buy in its finest form.

Difficult Start.
My first Montale that I received was actually a wrong order.
I actually wanted to order the Red Tobacco and ended up with the wrong bottle.
Anyway.
When unpacking, I first had to ask myself, “This little bottle (100ml) is quite light. Is there even anything inside?”
I was a bit disappointed. The presentation and packaging don’t really suggest a fragrance that costs 150.-.
The little pouch is nice, but useless.
Since I only realized that I had the wrong scent after the packaging was already opened, I thought, “Grumble.”

It didn’t spray quickly either. When I pulled out the pin, the spray head flew across the room in a high arc... Great.

Now to the scent!
The beginning is very unusual. It smells quite animalistic at first... almost stinky. But that fades away after 5 minutes. Then it becomes softer and significantly more wearable.
The saffron is quite present and carries the entire scent progression.
After about an hour, it almost has the potential to be a signature scent.
Since I have 100ml, I can test it extensively. Maybe it will stay in the collection.

Balsamic Oasis of Comfort
It doesn't happen very often that a fragrance blows me away.
After Alexandria II & III, I think this one is also incredibly challenging.
Still, "Chergui" almost managed to sweep me off my feet. But unfortunately, only almost.
What hits you in the first 20 minutes is truly cinematic.
The balsamic notes, the incense, the honey. Simply dreamy.
But after that... it somehow loses its intensity.
I don't know if I'm nose-blind. But after 20 minutes, it's only perceptible close to the skin for me. Such a shame. But I won't let my spirits down. I will try it again. Until I have to have it. Even if it's just for those first 20 minutes.

My new favorite from the "Les Absolus d'Orient" line
For me, Guerlain is rather uncharted territory that deserves to be explored in more detail.
Some time ago, I added "Santal Royal" to my collection.
I actually liked it at first. But the more I wore it, the more unbearable and intense it became for me. My wife didn't like it at all either.
Today, however, "Bois Mystérieux" caught my attention. I had tried it before, but didn't think much of it.
Today, it grabbed me.
At first, it reminds me a bit of Baccarat Rouge.
That’s probably due to the saffron.
But after about half an hour, the saffron takes a back seat and bay leaf spreads in my nose.
The scent becomes more and more mysterious and interesting to me. I can't take my nose off my wrist. It has captivated me and drawn me into the spell of the fragrance. I think I need to make a swap in my collection.
"Santal Royal" farewell……."Bois Mystérieux" welcome!
