Nothing sweet about LA PERLA
A friendly perfumer sold it to me, this beautiful eau de parfum, many thanks to Mujo

A fragrance that I had already received as a bottling, but didn't appreciate at the time. But, as already mentioned, you get older and perhaps also wiser and a little more experienced when it comes to good perfumes.

So now this wonderful floral-spicy-aromatic structure, like a painting by Renoir, that's how I feel about this fragrance. Very impressive, although not from the 19th century, but still, in my opinion, a very impressive structure that is immediately fully developed.

Spicy green and absolutely unsweet right at the start, it totally captures me. It has that coriander note that sometimes bothers me, it's also pronounced here, but mixed with cardamom, rose, coriander, lemon, I don't know what else, it smells simply terrific and incomparably velvety and even more beautiful and deeper than the EdT and that was already great.

For me, the floral splendor is only peripheral, it is neither pompous nor buttery, but light as a feather. A delicately floral garden carnation is delicately and quickly infused here, I love it.
The fragrance lasts a good 10 hours on me, so far the only one of this chypre variety that stays with me for such a pleasantly long time.

And the mossy, woody, warm finish. Velvety sandalwood paired with the ever-ready oakmoss. There is also a little incense, albeit a very mild white smoke with a fine resinous scent. Really wonderful.
I also think the ending is brilliant, a masterpiece (once again) that I was finally able to discover and really appreciate.

This fragrance is definitely one of my favorites.

Not only for women
It arrived today, which is perfect for this windy, unfriendly and cold weather, I thought, so I sprayed it on.
Another rather "old-fashioned" fragrance (in a positive sense, because I like that) and an eau de cologne that is not light-footed, but has a lot of power.

As so often, the whole thing starts with bergamot or perhaps lemon, or both?
Once again, everything that makes a typical floral chypre is beautifully combined here. Hesperidic top notes, floral heart, I smell, of course, jasmine (it's usually there), iris and a little bit of a pale dog rose, very elegant and a little bit floating.
The soapy notes are also present, but I don't mind them, because I like them, and the carnation is also very beautiful and nose-flattering.
And the end is warm and woody with cedar or sandalwood.
If you expect something sweet here, I have to disappoint you, for me this is an unsweet floral chypre, they were just made that way back then!

Before I started testing, I wrote down what I smelled and was very close. But of course I had to read up on exactly what was inside.

It's just that these good old fragrances usually contain such notes, so it's no big surprise here, but I think that this EdC is another addition to my collection of what many call "granny fragrances".
And it could also appeal to gentlemen if they have something unsweet in mind, I mean in the fragrance sense.

Old fashioned
It's funny that I'd forgotten about it, but I've now dug out the bottle again (very nice, by the way). While looking for something completely different, it came into my hands and as I am known to be on a vintage trip again, it had to be tested again.

I can only guess who it came from, but my guess is our dear Olkaolka, because she has such treasures and generously passes them on.

It's a very special fragrance that I'm smelling, somehow "old fashioned", but somehow not.
It has something green, enduring, mature, full-bodied and spicy right from the start. A fragrance that used to be available in drugstores when you were still served. There are certainly flowers in there too, you can smell them subtly, but what exactly is in there, I have no idea.

I smell lemon, something very subtle and incense-like, plus powdery iris, coupled with something that I unfortunately can't identify. In any case, it just smells "golden".

It's not a "power perfume", more of the subtle variety, but for a cologne it's quite finely made.

The beautiful bottle is now in the front row and I will appreciate it and enjoy using it. Many thanks to the donor, the giver, whoever it was.

The unexpected often happens
I got this great fragrance from a very kind and generous perfumer, thank you so much Barbara, you are the BEST.

It was in a package that contained a beautiful fragrance that I bought and the big surprise was THIS HERE, which was also still in it.

The fragrance starts off very full-bodied, I have no idea what I'm smelling, but immediately afterwards it takes a twist into the realm of summer flowers, finely tuned with jasmine, which doesn't smell stuffy and heavy (which is sometimes the case, but not here) but instead rushes through fresh and breezy, accompanied by something "white-flowery" that comes out a little more pompous, but still within tolerable limits, because then something comes to light that I would describe as woody, but which is also not listed, but I like it.

I can smell the rose faintly, but it is more of a hidden scent, not as present as others might perceive it.

I consider this water to be more of a chypre fragrance, at least that's what my unprofessional nose says - although it says otherwise. Even if it's not vintage (at least that's what I assume), it still smells like one, hence my association with chypre.

My bottle looks exactly like the one in the picture, but it says PARFUM DE TOILETTE.
I don't know if that had any effect on the fragrance notes. In any case, there are many more and different ones included than are listed here.

It may smell a little old-fashioned, but I like that, and after testing it several times, I can say that this fragrance will definitely be one of my favorites.

The powdery notes do come out a little, but only at the very end and only very slightly. A beautiful fragrance, smells much more expensive than it costs, a treasure that came to me completely unexpectedly and now greatly enriches my collection.

HERB ELEGANT
And yet another fragrance has reached me that I didn't know before, that I'm very excited about and that also fits my taste. MA GRIFFE is recognizable as a green fragrance in the base, but I have more fragrances that, in my opinion, are much greener.
Nevertheless (WHAT a word) it is similar to the dry, unsweet perfumes, it comes across as quite harsh, once again I can't smell any flowers. Sometimes that's a shame, because there are already many beautiful ones listed in the heart note that I like. Like jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, but I can't smell them.

I can't say whether this is an 80s or 90s fragrance (it's certainly not from the 40s), the bottle looks exactly like the photo here. I never used to have it, so I can't say whether it's vintage, but I assume it is, because the fragrance lasts a very long time. - Unfortunately, that's not often the case these days -

It's really strange, I've been wearing it for a while now and suddenly I have a slight floral hint in my nose, that's not possible. Initially just tart and now floral, a very interesting observation that I already had with "Indian Summer".

The fragrance is pleasant to wear if you like this tartness, but after a while it turns and becomes more of a soft focus with a small floral note.
It's not too expensive either, so you could save the more precious chypre for a special occasion. I say could, because that's not my style, I also wear it in "normal" everyday life. :-)
