Orchid camouflage hiding an earthy trap
Have you ever seen an orchid mantis? It looks like an innocent light pink flower, safe and attractive, but it is actually a dangerous predator ready to catch its prey.
The start is very intensive like an explosion of tropical flowers and greens. One spray and my nose is in shock, the whole room is drowned in the scents of a tropical orangery, humidity fills the air, and it all is so bright that the housemates notice it immediately. The scent is so amazing that I cannot stop inhaling the air around and sniffing my skin where I applied it.
After a half an hour, the tropical flowers have calmed down, the humidity has gone, and I can only smell the aroma of the earthy base reminding me incense, just like the basic smell of Christmas smokers' cones. When you open a pack to take out a new cone, you always feel the smell, regardless of the type and manufacturer of these cones. Maybe, it's sandalwood and vetiver in base. It's fine, but sad that those orchids and other tropical fragrances have gone so fast.
Maybe that was the intention of the creators of the perfume? To lure us in with the mesmerising orchid illusion, and when we got close we were trapped in an earthy base? This is how the orchid mantis is hunting. That's how I perceive this fragrance, and that's what I find really exciting about it.

A garden in a bottle
I'm in a garden in summer, the sun is shining down, everything around is green. I'm picking a pea pod straight from the plant, open it up, and it smells incredibly appetizing. That is how Iris de Gris starts: bright, refreshing and oh so natural, it makes me smile within seconds. Reminds me of the days I was little, and the best thing about going to my grandparents' garden was that pea veggie bed, where I could enjoy those young crisply green pea pods.
Not long after, the iris appears. Not the thick, powdery kind, but the light and breezy, grass clippings scented whiff that reminds me of garden air. The world around you suddenly appears drenched in sunshine, the air is cooler and greener, everything feels ripe, juicy, and full of life.
Well, it doesn’t last forever, projection is soft, and longevity is short. But I actually love that. It gives me the chance to spray it again during the day and get a refreshing dose of happiness. Another blast of garden breeze, another relief from the heat, another smile.
This perfume makes me smile, brightens my day, and gives me an instant boost of energy every time I spray it on my skin. It was not love from the first sniff, but the sample ran out way too fast, and I ordered a full bottle, because I couldn't imaging summer without it anymore.
