Memory and Scent

There have been many topics on fragrance forums of memory connected to certain scents. I would start a topic on it, but I feel that the particular scent at hand is fairly personal to me, therefore I wanted to put it on my blog (although if you want to chime in and say what best memory and scent is most of an impact on you, please share in the comments).

A year ago last February, my sister, friends, and I planned a weekend getaway to Miami Beach to celebrate her and one of the ladies' birthdays. It was fairly last minute decision for me to go; so I threw together a few outfits, stuffed my makeup in a bag, and gathered 2-3 rollerballs of perfume. Acqua di Gioa was one of them. I really didn't think much of the scent; it smelled fresh, and I bought it on clearance. I ended up wearing it all weekend because it was the only perfume that didn't seem cloying in the heat.

I haven't worn it since that trip until today. And boy, was I sucked back into time! I remembered the warmth, the excitement of being away from the winter blues, and going out to all the bars and restaurants dressed to the nines. I was in a place that was out of my element, and I was somebody else for a weekend; but I loved it. I actually YEARN for Miami Beach right now. The sun was so bright, so so bright. The air was fresh, windy, but humid. Not like here.

Sigh.
