How much vanilla should I put in? Mancera: Yes.
Mancera Aoud Vanille starts with beautiful, medicinal oud, paired with wintry vanilla. One of the most pleasant openings I have been able to test so far. The oud gives the vanilla a luxurious and clean touch, so it doesn't end up being a boring vanilla scented candle, which bothers me with most vanilla fragrances. Oud and vanilla compete against each other for dominance as the scent develops, with vanilla ultimately triumphing and oud receding into the background. The fragrance ends in a classic, yet pleasant, vanilla-dominated drydown. I find it almost a shame that the oud loses its presence and therefore prefer the opening over the drydown. Longevity is extreme, projection is radioactive, just as one expects from strong Manceras. Absolutely unisex.

Setting: cold, snowy day - casual, comfortable gatherings with friends
Character: cool and relaxed person around 25 - secret bookworm - independent and unbound - light hair, blue eyes

Pine Cones and Morning Dew
I cannot relate to the numerous reviews that compare this scent to death or total darkness. The fragrance is definitely dull and dark, yet it is green, green, and more green.
Encre Noire reminds one of vibrant, dark green coniferous forests in the morning, after light fog has moistened decaying wood, oily needles, and the loose ground. This scent is for oneself, not for others. It gives the feeling of being alone enough. Full focus on self-imposed goals. Strongly masculine leaning, only wearable by self-assured women.
Setting: 5 AM before work in the dark, jogging through a foggy, cold coniferous forest
Character: serious - determined and disciplined - speaks little, yet always says the right thing - young entrepreneur with a preference for personal development books

Pharmacy Cabinet Gone Niche
Une Nuit à Doha. I can't get along with you. To me, you smell like a pharmacy cabinet full of wildflower and wild herb teas on a very genuine tobacco base. You smell more like an attempt or the concept of presenting a realistic scent, rather than being a perfume. It's probably one of those feel-good personal scents, but it's definitely too niche for me to wear something like that. The spiciness of the immortelle is also biting. You can immediately smell the quality of the oils used, which still doesn't justify the high price. I would classify it as very challenging. Completely unisex.

Character: Social work student in the 17th semester with biodegradable shoes and a bicycle from World War II - spends half of the student grant on herbal remedies.

Subtly Pleasant
My first Diptyque and I am thrilled. A very simple but successful fragrance for a broad audience. Unimaginable that anyone would say the stuff you have smells bad. It really works at any time. Clean laundry with a touch of luxury. The three prominent notes for me are juniper berry, powder, and jasmine, which are flawlessly harmonized. Completely unobtrusive, although it has good sillage. Slightly leaning towards feminine unisex, but I love it as a man. A feel-good scent.
Setting: bright, cloudless days in the early weeks of spring
Character: well-groomed, educated woman - creative, yet introverted - ‘nonchalant’

King Louis XIV
This is my impression of what the good man might smell like. Sweet, spiced plum liqueur meets soapy amber and bright wood. For me, it leans more towards the fresh and soapy direction, although I seem to be alone in this when reading the other reviews here. Therefore, I must say that I perceive neither flowers nor a dominant oriental association, as the name 'Floriental' would suggest. Office-appropriate, but more suitable for an evening out. Wearable in summer, while autumn and spring provide the optimal conditions. How different noses can be. Completely unisex and only slightly challenging.
Setting: First date
Character: King Louis XIV
