A Little Too Floral for My Taste
My stream of consciousness review:
Sprayed at 7:45
At first spray I got a rush of pool chlorine, but luckily that settled as it dried. At the top, the creamy, coconut elements of the Tiare are very prominent, though the Ylang Ylang is sneaking through as well. This is a very regal smelling tropical floral - I’m imagining this is how Liliʻuokalani, the late queen of Hawaii, would smell.
Projection in the beginning is decent and I can definitely smell it on myself. I’m liking this a lot more than expected… but it is a VERY floral fragrance, which isn’t usually my thing. I do love white florals in scents, but usually accompanied by deeper notes that give it depth.
30 minutes on and the florals have taken on a musky citrus tone. There are no citrus notes listed, so I looked up Magnolia Dianica and turns out this is a magnolia variation from the highlands of southern China that has a sweet, lemon-y scent.
At 1.5 hours it’s settled into a white floral inflected sandalwood with a musky tone. While I really enjoyed the opening notes, I’m not quite sure how I feel about the full dry down and the base notes. While it felt like a youthful floral at first, it’s evolved into a much more mature (maybe even elderly) impression of a floral.
By 2 hours it’s mostly faded, so while it had strong projection at the beginning, much like other Ellis Brooklyn fragrances, the longevity isn’t really there.
Hold up, maybe I take back the bit about longevity… it’s 2pm and I’m still getting hints. It stopped projecting hours ago, but I can still smell the florals when up close.
Overall, I don’t think this is for me. If you really love a strong white floral fragrance with a musky, woody dry down, you should check this out. But for me, the floral notes are a little overwhelmingly.

A fun and flirty apple with floral notes
My stream of consciousness review:
Sprayed at 7:30am
Super fresh and a little citrusy at first spray. It immediately has great projection at the initial dry down. I’m definitely getting a juicy red apple note as well as a sweet orange note and a hint of peach. There’s a slight floral undertone that is really pleasant. I’m loving these top notes!
By 30min in the floral notes have come to the front, though the apple is still prominent. I’m definitely catching the plum blossom and some lily of the valley. There’s also a sharp, fresh sweetness coming through, kind of like sugarcane juice. It’s quite lovely.
By 10 it has mostly faded, but I am getting a slightly musky sandalwood note as well as still some of the plum blossom.
As with other Ellis Brooklyn fragrances, I’m not thrilled with the longevity, but it’s definitely better than some of the others. By 11 there was no projection but I could still get a whiff of the base notes from up close.
Overall I really like this and would consider investing in a full bottle. It’s a quite elegant interpretation of an apple fragrance with soft florals and creamy undertones. When I think of apples I tend to think of fall, but as it lacks any spicy notes, I’d say this is definitely more of a spring, summer, or transitional fragrance. It’s fun, flirty and I imagine would be widely appealing. If you’re looking for an apple fragrance, definitely consider Apple Love!

Nice floral woods scent - heavy on the oakwood
My stream of consciousness review:

Romano is coming in strong with a sweet, kind of herbal, woodiness at first spray. I’m getting some of the rose and rum notes, but the dominant scent is the oak - like a freshly planed board of oakwood. The overall effect is somewhat like being in a high end hardwood furniture store where the employees recently sprayed a light rose air freshener.
30 min in and it’s softened quite a bit to a fresh, floral woods scent. The oakwood is still at the forefront, which I think is why it reminds me of “Alpine” from Ellis Brooklyn which I remember describing as a vintage cedarwood chest. The woodiness is very enveloping in that it feels like being in a wood paneled room or a new cabin. But the floral and sweet notes give it a bit more dimension than “Alpine”.
1.5 hours in and it’s faded substantially. I am getting more of the vanilla now, but it definitely doesn’t overpower the oak. The rose isn’t really present anymore which is a bit disappointing.
4 hours in and there’s no projection, but I can definitely still smell it up close. So at least the longevity is decent.
Overall, I’m not sure if I’m currently in the market for a super woody fragrance, but this is quite lovely as a floral woods scent. I'll hold on to the sample for future reference.

A bit masculine and aquatic for my taste
My stream of consciousness review:
Spraying on paper first to see if I want to try it on skin. At first spray it’s quite sharp and musky. I think I’m getting the anise which I wasn’t expecting to like because I hate licorice, but I don’t find it offensive at all. Maybe because it’s kind of a woody herbal scent. I originally pegged this as a fresh/green fragrance based on the description, but it’s much woodier than I expected. Now that the spray has dried down, the aquatic notes are coming to the front. Honestly, it smells a bit like men’s cologne, but I think I want to try it on skin to see if it performs differently.

At first spray it’s VERY herbal. The anise is quite strong, though like I found with testing it on paper, not at all unpleasant. I’m also definitely catching a seaweed note that is really interesting. It’s also quite aquatic, in a kind of woody way. Think driftwood that just washed up on the shore. I’m not really getting any hint of salt water, which is why this kind of reminds me of a mountain lake.
At 45min in, it hasn’t changed much - it’s still a woody-aquatic fragrance. Though there’s something a little smokey to it as well. This is a little weird, but I feel like I’m getting a hint of bacon, lol. Or some type of smoked meat. There’s nothing really offensive about the fragrance… I’m just not sure if it’s for me.
2 hours in and it’s mostly faded, but I can still smell it up close. So not the best longevity. Granted some may have rubbed off on my sweater. I don’t know how that might affect projection and longevity.
I think if you are inclined towards aquatic, woody, and more masculine scents, Littoral could be interesting to try. It’s not for me, but I’m going to hold on to the sample for reference.

Surprised to find how much I like this!
My stream of consciousness review:
I wasn’t so sure about the notes, so I sprayed it on a test strip first. On paper it’s incredibly beachy and fresh. I’m getting a eucalyptus note and some salty ocean air. I’m not usually into marine notes, but I definitely want to try this on skin.
Sprayed at 8am
The alcohol was really strong at first spray, but that died down quickly. This just screams BEACH. I feel a little crazy, but I’m totally getting the lip balm note. It’s kind of like sticky vaseline. I’m also getting a white floral… I think magnolia. But over the top it really smells like a fresh, salty, ocean breeze and maybe a hint of driftwood. This is so pleasant!
At the dry down I’m getting a slight note of bitter orange. It’s not really citrusy though… more like an orange rind. I also think I’m getting the lycra swimsuit note. It’s synthetic, but not offensive (though maybe it’s because I’ve always kind of liked the smell of swimsuits, lol).
40 min in and it’s gotten much creamier. The coconut milk is definitely coming through.
2 hours in and it’s still projecting pretty well. It’s evolved into a slightly musky, yet still creamy, coconut scent. I’m actually shocked at how much I like this. I was kind of skeptical when reading the abstract fantasy notes, but it’s surprisingly wearable. It would be a perfect beachy summer scent, but it’s also fresh enough to be a daily wear fragrance year-round.
3.5 hours in and it’s still projecting pretty well! Though I think I might give it another spray to freshen up. I’m definitely going to want to invest in a small bottle of Halcyon!
