A soothing beach fragrance made with salt and florals
Salt has been owned by my boyfriend ever since I got it as a free sample and gave it to him because I already had one from the Scent Diary fragrance discovery set. I've smelled it a few times on him and I've been enthralled ever since. It was now time to see if my own skin would react well to it.

Soothing. This is the first word that comes to my mind as I inhale the top notes. I can almost picture myself relaxing at a spa, lounging on a patio chair. Florals are defintely present when the fragrance first settles on your skin, but there's also a strong salty, almost mineral note that shines through and remains from the top to the bottom. Ylang-ylang imparts a creamy, relaxing facet while tiaré gives a gentle tropical vibe to the fragrance. Chinese magnolia is beautiful as it unfurls a floral, almost fruity note. Sandalwood shines through with a creamy accord, but it also has a bit of woodiness, like driftwood that has been soaked thoroughly by the salt of the sea. The ambergris in here is strong, yes, but it's also reminiscent of taking a dip in the sea while the sun is setting, soaking up the last rays of sunshine. The drydown is a sea salt and sand skin scent that follows closely the theme of this perfume.

Overall, this is the best fragrance I've smelled from the salt family of fragrances and I really do think it's a beautiful scent to have in your collection for warm weather and days at the beach. I'll be adding a full bottle to my collection as soon as I can.

Coastal Hikin’
That’s what this reminds me of— standing on a cliff high above in the trees, everything soaked by a salty mist, looking down upon a roaring ocean. The scent doesn’t remind me of beach days but of beautiful yet aggressive waves that are unsafe to swim in.

It distinctly reminds me of hiking Olympic National Park in Washington and Point Lobos State Park in California. Both are very good memories I share with my mom and husband. Salty, woody, and so atmospheric. When I made the connection, I quickly purchased a full bottle.

The scent pulls a tad sharp on me, but it’s an oddly comforting sharpness? I perceive genuine oceanic smells as sharp too, so I suppose this makes sense.

Unfortunately, this one only lasts around 2-3 hours on me. I usually don’t have the longevity problem like others seem to have. Fragrances that people complain have poor longevity will easily last 5-6 hours on me, but this one does not. I have other EB fragrances, and they easily outlast this one.

This is a personal thing that I’m pretty sure the majority of folks won’t have an issue with— But the bottle gives me chills in a bad way. I have sensory processing issues, and that frosted, rough glass texture is really hard to deal with. Ultimately, not a big deal. Aesthetically, the bottle is lovely. I just hate grabbing it lol.

Regardless of its cons, I will absolutely repurchase. I’ve already put a dent into the 100ml bottle I bought a couple of months ago.

Non-offensive freshie with below average staying power
I had high hopes for this one, as aquatic freshies are some of my favorite, but it just didn't live up to the mark for me. It's a slightly sweet, slightly metallic freshie that is perfectly unisex. The metallic/salty aspect feels toned down but that isn't a bad thing. My only real issue with this is longevity. I get maybe 2 hours of this on my skin, and I usually don't have a huge issue with performance. Even on my clothes or tester strips, it just seems to fade. I'm not even really able to get the base notes for that reason, and I think it makes the fragrance feel unfinished to me.

Granny Fragrance In Disguise
The magnolia was giving me high hopes because that is one of my favorite flowers but unfortunately I only get ylang-ylang and tiaré with maybe a *hint* of violet leaf. My friend tested this on herself last night too and on her we also got really strong florals and it aged her too. Definitely a misnomer because it smells like old lady sunscreen with no hints of salt or other mineral notes.

A Little Too Floral for My Taste
My stream of consciousness review:

Sprayed at 7:45

At first spray I got a rush of pool chlorine, but luckily that settled as it dried. At the top, the creamy, coconut elements of the Tiare are very prominent, though the Ylang Ylang is sneaking through as well. This is a very regal smelling tropical floral - I’m imagining this is how Liliʻuokalani, the late queen of Hawaii, would smell.

Projection in the beginning is decent and I can definitely smell it on myself. I’m liking this a lot more than expected… but it is a VERY floral fragrance, which isn’t usually my thing. I do love white florals in scents, but usually accompanied by deeper notes that give it depth.

30 minutes on and the florals have taken on a musky citrus tone. There are no citrus notes listed, so I looked up Magnolia Dianica and turns out this is a magnolia variation from the highlands of southern China that has a sweet, lemon-y scent.

At 1.5 hours it’s settled into a white floral inflected sandalwood with a musky tone. While I really enjoyed the opening notes, I’m not quite sure how I feel about the full dry down and the base notes. While it felt like a youthful floral at first, it’s evolved into a much more mature (maybe even elderly) impression of a floral.

By 2 hours it’s mostly faded, so while it had strong projection at the beginning, much like other Ellis Brooklyn fragrances, the longevity isn’t really there.

Hold up, maybe I take back the bit about longevity… it’s 2pm and I’m still getting hints. It stopped projecting hours ago, but I can still smell the florals when up close.

Overall, I don’t think this is for me. If you really love a strong white floral fragrance with a musky, woody dry down, you should check this out. But for me, the floral notes are a little overwhelmingly.

An ode to the sea: a deep salty, mineral note accompanied by florals that have a gentle tropical vibe. Sunkissed sea salt skin!

smells like a fancy spa! fresh, with an undertone of warm incense. possibly a better room scent than a skin scent, very soothing and cozy.

What even is the point of this? This is the "live laugh love" of fragrance.

Smelled like a Lysol wipe. Wanted to wipe it off didn’t like so much. 0/10.

This took a lactonic, powdery, sorta animalic turn on my skin that I actually really dig

I really wanted to like this--based on the profile it should have been one I love. But the only thing I get when I smell this is Nair. Like

Always find myself reaching for this when I want a soft, comforting scent. Reminds me of a beach walk; smelling the ocean and sand altogether.

Doesn't last long, which worked out great for me because it had a stinky note on my skin that churns my stomach a bit.

Sea salt and musk – a very simple fragrance, but really nice.
