Arab Chanel Antaeus and frankincense isn't smoky...
I bought this after trying. It smelled very weird but i think this is a niche actually worth the buck. (Opposite to Creed and Tom Ford, for example)
The initial blast is that sharp oregano, very herbal, plus the pimento heat and the citrus.
After that you get the massive incense as the top notes begin to fade. I also get leather, sandalwood, the patchouli hippie - like terpenes and a good sum of resin - forward amber, while i also find a slight vanillic sweetness on it.
I said this reminds me of Chanel's Antaeus being modernized and as if it was composed (Indeed is) by someone with arab roots. As incense tends to be composed with castoreum, having a good amount of labdanum, citruses, herbs and patchouli, i think it's a fairly grounded comparison.
PD: Frankincense like so isn't smoky. This has a ton of castoreum and / or wood tars like birch and cade tar giving it thy nuance. Smoke bomb. Reminds me of good ol' days smelling firewood and coal - cooked meals, a regular smell in some parts of my city during fall and winter. I'll be rocking this a ton this holiday.

Nice scent, couple complaints
1: No real ambergris in this.
2: Cool Water does something very close for much less.
3: Mediocre performance. If Aventus is weak, this is absolute water. I get 10 or 15 minutes of decent projection and then, BOOM! An almost imperceptible layer of marine saltiness for a few hours but sitting extremely close to the skin.
One of the worse by Creed. I wanted to love this but man, that performance just sucks.
The bottle looks amazing though...

I liked this the most out of the AU
My dad got a perfume from the boutique here in Mexico and they sent us a couple samples, Delphinus and Centaurus.
This last one reminded me heavily of something like CK's Obsession for women but leaning masculine, with that heavy pipe tobacco note which also reminds me quite a bit of something like Quorum, Polo Green and stuff like that. (Which i love since i like a lot classics)
The bottle of Centaurus is amazing. Lovely ruby tone and heavy - AF metal cap.
As a bottom line. i loved this, but the cost i find prohibitive (No lower than 500 bucks in the whole mexican market) and for these type of nuances, i could consider a thousand alternatives before this. Mediocre price - value prop. as any Creed. If you have the means to buy them i guess my opinion is irrelevant, but i personally wouldn't.

Nice scent, wouldn't ever pay for it
A relative ordered Royal Mayfair from the boutique and they sent him two small samples: Delphinus and Centaurus.
Delphinus seems to me quite in the vein of something like Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal in the heavier versions like EDP and such, with those almonds (Benzaldehyde component, also used for cherry nuances) and leather with powdery tones. It also could remind slightly of Dior Homme, Valentino Uomo / Uomo Intense and such. I find it nice but it's not a scent that i'd feel comfortable wearing myself. I also consider the cost to be absolutely prohibitive. This is a no - no for me. I could see myself prefering Centaurus or something outside the Amber Universe like Aventus and GIT before Delphinus.

A new love but, why that price?
I love GIT. But i just don't see myself paying retail or even discount for this scent.
Since "The Ghost Perfumer" dropped a ton of things have appeared in the com and the truth about the maison of Creed is not particularly hopeful.
Talking objectively, this has NEVER had natural ambergris but rather ambroxan. It's actually better, cheaper, more projecting, no weird animalic molecules inside the liquid, while bearing in mind AG does not require to kill the animal. So, main myth busted.
Cool Water? A thousand times better bang for buck, while naturally being quite synthetic smelling. In my opinion, it's hard to spot GIT from CW if you are not smelling them side to side.
One thing i will have to recognize from it, the composition and bottle are just absolutely astounding. The new F batch bottles are so sturdy, the metal cap excels and the atomizer is so classy looking. Composition - wise, looking up the GCMS of this (Available to anyone in the Fraterworks site as "Tartan Dream" in their formulas section) this does not have a single drop of verbena oil, since it's banned by IFRA due to it being phototoxic and sensitizing, two significant violations. It uses a bouquet of petitgrain and citruses instead, if you know the smell of rubbing lemon or orange tree leaves, this will remind you heavily of thy. The green, sandalwood, violet leaf and marine ambroxan edge just combine masterfully. I also find in it a significant tobacco note from coumarin, similar to smelling unlit cigars, which is actually declarated in CW. It has white musks as well, hence adding to the overall clean aura this has.
As a bottom line: If you have the money and want the status, i will assume my opinion is irrelevant. On the other side, if you don't have a huge budget (Like myself) and you want the best possible bang for buck, i'd hesitate to buy even a 50ml or a 100ml at discount. I love the scent but the price is a huge turnoff for me. CW is a great alternative and just great for summer, could layer with a citrus like an Aventus clone or Agua Brava and get a similar vibe.
