Amazing Scent
It is clear that perfumery is a very personal thing...

For me, Millesime Imperial by Creed is my favorite perfume if we only consider the scent and leave aside other parameters such as duration or trail. I have quite a large niche collection with perfumes that I love, from Creed I have Aventus, Aventus cologne, VIW... And every day I go to the closet to smell this and put it on, even if it's a spray. It has become a very special scent for me.

I am of the opinion that a perfume has to last, and this one lasts a short time and doesn't become as present as others. In the existential journey that all perfume lovers undertake to find the ideal perfume that smells the best, that projects the most, that gives the most compliments, suddenly you find something like this fragrance, a perfume that even if it is not everything you were looking for makes you feel in a very special way and catches you. And you never want to let go.

It would be my signature fragrance if it weren't for the price (understandable because the ingredients are of high quality and it's a Creed) and the duration, it hurts to pick up a niche perfume and have to spray it on like there's no tomorrow. I wish it lasted much longer, if it did I would sell much of my collection and buy just this.

Is it worth spending the price on this? Try it, ask yourself what you are looking for, don't be guided by what people say and decide for yourself. If what you need is to buy a single perfume that has a trail, is heavy and attracts attention for meters far away, this is not it, but if you want a more intimate beauty cologne and you are aware that it does not last long, for me it is worth it, and very much so. Furthermore, people like this perfume very much on me.
By the way, I also have Milestone and if you smell them hand in hand you will notice that they have the same concept but the final path is different. If you like Millesime Imperial it is fine to have it for day to day wear.

Sunshine In A Bottle
Imagine if you will that you are sailing in the south of France on a big white yacht on a hot sunny breezy day. You are drinking champagne and eating slices of watermelon while breathing in the fresh crisp morning ocean breeze. This is what I imagine while smelling this gorgeous scent.

To my nose the fragrance smells like a luscious watermelon coupled with the scent of the ocean. It also has a golden creamy opulence about it like they have captured sunshine in a bottle. It is warm and light and has this alluring familiar sexy undertone to it which for a while I just could not put my finger on. Then after spending a good amount of time wearing it from my sample, bingo I got it.

You know that opening gorgeous Iris note from Green Irish Tweed that everyone loves. Its in this as well but the scent has been blended with green mandarin to give this fragrance its signature watermelon smell.

I have to say on a personal note I think this scent is incredible, its clean and fresh and perfect for a hot summers day. I have a big 120ml bottle of this so I can bathe in it. One important thing to point out is this has to be worn fully and smells better when the scent takes to the air and surrounds you, than just smelling it up close on your wrist.

Another thumbs up to Creed on a excellent Scent.

New batches, better performance
Seems like the blackrock acquisition was a good thing after all… I have tired both aventus and this one on their newest, metallic cap batches, both seem a bit different talking about scent profile, but the performance on both is greatly improved, they are after all, solid fragrances with solid performances. Creed is getting better.

Nondescript, boring, out of fashion
Fresh, woody, aquatic, kinda synthetic — Millésime Impérial definitely does not exude the opulence and richness that its name or shiny gold bottle suggests. Very very casual, and something I'd expect an older millennial to wear who hasn't really changed up his style in the last 20 years. Scent fashion evolves over time, and this type of scent today is unfortunately in that hole between "new and cool" and "vintage and cool". Staying within Creed's oeuvre, Tabarome Millésime and Bois du Portugal for example are cool because of their vintage style — like driving a 60s Mustang or Corvette. Millésime Impérial on the other hand is like a 1994 Ford Taurus. Simple, effective, gets the job done, but kind of embarrassing to be seen in.

Onto the scent itself, it's a pretty standard late-90s/early-00s male scent. I feel like I'd be smelling stuff like this all over my high school in the mid 00s. My wife compared it to the male scents she'd smell in the magazines that were sent out in the same era. Fresh citruses, aquatic calone, hint of frutiness, all around a nondescript "nice" scent. Maybe this was enough for the mid-90s, but nowadays compared to all the wonderful niche scents we have, it's kinda boring. I was hoping that since there was a new marketing campaign with free samples (which is the sample I'm reviewing from), it would have been revamped similar to Aventus' F-batches. But no, it's the same scent I sampled a few years ago. And just as nondescript then as it is now.

There are scents… and scents
From my experience with perfumarie, there’s scents… and scents.
For years now, I’ve had dozens of fragrances, followed the gurus (hey, Jeremy) in their “self-imposed” compliment hunt on us, apassionados.
I’ve purchased a LOT of fragrances, tried them, liked them… used them for a while. And ended up keeping only 7.
Why did I do that? The more I got and used the hyped perfumes, I realized that there are INFINITE amount of good and even great perfumes.
Nonetheless, there’s a few, a selected few, that are special, where the others are not.
Millesime Imperial has a special place in my heart, and is one of my Top 7. Probably the number one. It’s amazing, exciting, makes me want to wear it for myself, and every time I get a wiff of it, I have such a sense of exclusivity, of luxury, wanting more.
It doesn’t project (almost at all), however this is the perfect skin scent, when you kiss or hug someone, trust me, they will give you a compliment. But don’t use it for that reason. Keep it exclusive. In fact, I am happy that not that many people “hype” it. Keep something special, special. This is not just any scent.
Thank you Jan from the Souk, who made it possible for me to try it and never let it go!

Salty and fruity. Marine notes and mandarin. A touch of iris, amber, sandalwood. Disappointing in terms of scent and miserable performance.

Salty, fruity, marine scent - perfect for summer. My 15U01 batch performs very good. Get a pre 2016 if you can, it is quite weak after that.

Got a 2015 partial. What people say is true: twice as powerful, twice as deep, twice as long lasting. When this is done, I’m done with MI.

Pathetic, embarrassing performance. Greed should be ashamed at the prices they’re charging for what is essentially water.

A day on the waves with friends, but will leave you needing to apply more.

It’s a more mature summer aquatic, fairly simply, but does so much well. The scent itself is really captivating and it is without a doubt.

Too many cheaper alternatives that smell exactly the same to justify this price. Unforgivable smells better and performs as well.

Modern formulations are a shell of what this once was. Get your hands on a vintage batch and thank me later. 13X01 is a banger.
