Lavender
I need to go back and test this again because I tested it on skin after several fragrances. I was admittedly a bit fatigued. Of everything sprayed on my skin, this was the scent that had the strongest sillage. The sillage is superb but there isn't much when you smell it in place. I was hoping for a nice vanilla to appear but all I could smell was lavender. I don't want to believe this is mostly just a lavender that doesn't develop but it never did develop into anything more. I'm a bit sad that a YSL smells like this. It's so simple. Is it really this simple and the mass consumer is just well basic(?) or was my nose blind to everything else? I had a fragrance I know on my other arm to use as reference and my nose couldn't have fatigued because that reference perfume smelled as it should. It's a beautiful lavender. The best lavender I've smelled in perfume thus far. Most lavender gives me a headache but this didn't. It was pleasing but where is the structure? I will go back and try again and double check the bottle was Le Parfum and not the Edt. They had only one tester and the box behind it was the Le Parfum. I didn't think to confirm with box but even if it's the parfum, the DNA should be similar and sadly that DNA is mostly lavender to my nose. I washed it off my hand and now I can detect a little vanilla and orange blossom. I will say my wearing was only for 2-3 hours so maybe this develops rather slowly. I do have to say that although I'm disappointed about the direct scent, the wafts you get are wonderful. If I smelled this on a woman I would love to ask her about her perfume because it's very beautiful from a distance. It isn't recognizable like the YSL I grew to love. I will give it more testings in the future. I think I will love it on a fresh nose. If you love lavender then this should be your main perfume. I really wanted the vanilla to come through and mingle with the lavender but it didn't sadly and I'm disappointed.

Well Balanced
I wear the men's version but I'm wanting to buy this for my girlfriend. I finally got to take her to the perfume shop to test it on her skin. Wow! I love this. It really does complement it's male counterpart very well. I love how L'eau D'issey develops but manages to retain the freshness of the top notes. It's very well balanced. It's rare to find a feminine fragrance that isn't too sweet. You can wear this for any occasion. It smells modern. It's a tad sweet on top with a lovely floral heart anchored by amber and cedar. I will buy this for her soon when I go to buy a new bottle of the male version. When I smell it, I think of a wedding dress. Take that imagery as you wish.

Timeless
I can't think of a fragrance relative to D'issey because it's that unique. This is everything a freshy should be like. A bright uplifting opening of yuzu citrus and florals but it's contrasted with warm amber and spice. This makes it a freshy that doesn't disappear after two hours. The base notes really hold everything together and the fragrance changes or cycles throughout a wearing. At times you smell the lily and citrus and other times you smell the spices. When I first bought it. I tested it on my arm and walked around the mall for an hour smelling it randomly as it developed. I hated the opening blast at first (I smelled too hard, rookie mistake) and was afraid it would just be like every other headache inducing fresh watery fragrance but no, I'm so glad I was patient. But I still wasn't completely satisfied with it until after a week I realized it was my dumb reach everyday and I could smell how it alternated from bright to sensual depending on my heart rate or heat. It's also a fragrance that never loses relevance. Both young and old can wear this. I'll always be sure to keep a large bottle in my rotation. I look to add the aftershave and deodorant for a really nice way to start my day. I'm even buying my girlfriend the female EDP soon because it pairs perfectly with the male version. Everyone wonders about longevity and power but I could care less but for those that want to know, longevity is above average to excellent on my skin and it fills a room in the first hour then drydowns enough that people will certainly smell you as you walk past. Sprayed the very last of my bottle which was barely a spritz this morning and it's wafting off my chest 7 hours later. The perfumer that did this also did another favorite perfume of mine and that's Opium pour homme. Anything Jacques creates, it becomes timeless. The man is a master. Be aware that this is my own skin chemistry. Don't wear this bear your nose either, spray behind the ears and wrists if you so desire. You won't get fragrance fatigue this way.

No one cared until it was gone
YSL's modern barbershop fragrance. A wonderful aromatic spicy top and smooth powdery finish. In 2010, I paid $38 for the large bottle. It lasted me a long time. I think it lasted in my small rotation until 2014. I was a cashier at a popular Florida grocery chain and I always wore this on Senior Citizen Wednesdays. The older ladies loved it. I had one lady say she always looked for my lane because she loved attitude and cologne. A younger coworker would often stop me and ask what I was wearing and she would remind me to never quit wearing it because it was definitely my signature scent. I loved the scent but I didn't love it as much as LNDL or vintage Paco. I eventually ran out and replaced it with Opium pour homme. Some years later I wanted to get another bottle and to my dismay and anger I saw the small sizes on ebay for over $300. This was my introduction to Tom Fraud. Apparently this fragrance was discontinued due to poor sales but around the same time YSL kicked TF out. The Tom Fraud fanatics suddenly came out of the woodworks and clamored this was the greatest frangrance ever created. I'm very angry til this day that no one bought it when it was available but then price gouged the market when it was inevitably discontinued. Tom Fraud had little to do with the creation of this. This was the work of Jacque. It's a shame people associate Tom Fraud to it and demand a premium price. For the prices people want now, there are many great options available. Opium pour homme being a solid alternative and both were created by the same person. I'd love to get my nose on the classic and modern Dior Eau Savauge. I imagine it's a similar classy barbershop scent too. If you can find a large bottle under $100, it is worth it.
