Introduction to the Beauty of the Fragrance World
Layton was for me and for many others the entry into the niche world of perfumes that we are all so enchanted by.
What more can be said about Layton? With over 1400 statements and an 8.6 from nearly 6000 ratings, everything has probably already been said.
You will hardly find anyone who dislikes Layton.
A fruity apple opening paired with a sweetly seductive drydown that fits not only in winter.
You can wear it almost anytime, and it is never inappropriate, just maybe not in the high summer at 30+ degrees.
It is nothing completely extravagant or complex, but from my perspective, it is somewhat deeper than the classic designers that the majority of people wear. Thus, it is simply the perfect first step into the niche world.
By now, it is simply a classic that has a place in many collections.

The Fresh-Sour Summer Kick
I had already tested the fragrance two years ago in summer with a 10 ml sample. Even back then, I was enchanted by the fresh lemon/tangerine. It's simply a great refreshment for hot days. After wearing its "more well-known brother," Torino 21, last summer, it was time to return to my first summer Xerjoff.
There are definitely similarities between Torino 21 and Renaissance.
While Torino 21 is more green and slightly spicy, thanks to the rosemary, basil, and thyme, Renaissance is simply more citrusy. Only the mint brings a pleasant "greenness" and a slight mojito touch to the opening. The dominant notes here are clearly the citrus fruits in the top notes. These are distinguished from the classic lemon/bergamot scents by the tangerine, which, in my opinion, makes it better.
After a while, this intense citrus fruit weakens, and a light clean green soft wood/flower scent emerges. However, it is still dominated by the tangerine/lemon, which is not as strong as at the beginning. It simply fits perfectly for a hot summer day.
The performance is absolutely satisfactory for such a strong citrus scent.
I get about 6-8 hours of great refreshment on hot days from Renaissance.
For anyone who enjoys wearing this type of fragrance in summer, it’s an absolute recommendation.
One small negative point, somehow the bees/wasps seem to like this scent too. Maybe it’s the tangerine ;)
