Pure luxury - my experience at the Marc Gebauer store in Düsseldorf

In fact, I'm writing my first long review after almost a year of membership.

On the day I was introduced to this fragrance, we were in Düsseldorf... in Marc Gebauer's new store... but let's start chronologically.

On that Saturday, we decided relatively spontaneously after getting up that we wanted to go to Düsseldorf to visit the new store, which had been advertised in one of Marc's YouTube videos two days earlier.

After a 1.5 hour drive and a horrendous search for a parking space, we fought our way through the hustle and bustle of the Düsseldorf Christmas market towards Blumenstraße 9.
So now we were standing in front of the store! Modern, stylish, classy - a mix of the traditional art that Marc's Headquater represents, paired with modern technology and stylish elements.
After a friendly welcome from a member of staff, we finally started our fragrance journey. Let it be said that I was not mentally prepared to buy a perfume in advance... I was proven wrong!

We started with Oxford to Uden Overdose , Orange Flamingo , to Oajan (which were/are all great fragrances)
But I got stuck with Oud Republic which captured the whole experience best for me.

A fragrance of pure luxury! Multifaceted! Elegant! Spicy! Sweet! A little oriental! Very multifaceted and above all special in its composition! A fragrance for a true man! Individual fragrance notes are familiar from well-known fragrances. But I've never smelled them in this combination before! A few more suggestions from the employee followed, but I knew immediately: I want the Oud Republic!
In the meantime, I was also able to talk to Marc personally, as he happened to be in the store that day. A really great highlight, which rounded off the fragrance trip in Düsseldorf with a great experience.

With €305 less in my wallet, I left the store overjoyed and could hardly wait to wear the fragrance on such special occasions.
A great gift to the most important person in my life - myself!

A journey of the senses

In a small but fine perfumery, I asked about "oud" fragrances. I explained to the lady that I prefer woody, oriental and warm fragrances. Perhaps sweet fragrances too. While I was still explaining, she reached for the bottle of Oud Republic.

What can I say... i first smelled the test strip and thought: Wow... this is anything but a classic oud fragrance. The opening is much fresher than expected but still warm and exciting at the same time. From the look on my face, the lady could tell that I was surprised. She laughed and said that she would probably see this reaction very often if she reached for this bottle.

The fragrance is so extraordinary that I find it difficult to put it into words.

It still has the oriental note, of course, but at the same time it is so elegant, light and carefree. I'm no expert and admittedly a very virgin sniffer of such fragrances. But I can say that I always felt the need to smell the test strip and that every time I smelled it again, new fragrance notes created a partially new and even more special fragrance experience.

You notice, especially later on and in the drydown, that this is of course an "oud fragrance". However, the oud component is enormously flattered without suppressing it.
This creates a truly powerful yet refined and warm harmony with all the different fragrance components.

As the lady at the perfumery said, still laughing and grinning: "A journey of the senses, isn't it?"

Afterwards, she sprayed the fragrance on my skin and I smelled it on my wrists all day.

Memories of my childhood come flooding back

Oud Republic was actually a blind buy. Having had the Pana Dora brand on my radar for a long time, I decided to buy a bottle of Oud Republic without further ado. But first things first....

The Syrian-born perfumer Ibrahim Al-Zoubi founded the Pana Dora brand. Swedish nature was chosen as the inspiration for the fragrances. His aim was to convey areas of the country and the nature of Sweden to the buyer as a very personal piece. I found the background really exciting, which is why the fragrances Moonlight, Imperial Wood and Oud Republic had been on my wish list for some time. In the end, it was to be the latter.

The fragrance arrived a few days later in its elegant packaging. The bottle really is a feast for the eyes! The cap is represented by a moose head. This looks very pompous. The bottle is a really impressive size and the sprayer is really1A!

I sprayed 5 sprays (my routine: above both wrists on each forearm, on the shirt/sweater and on both sides of the neck). The scent immediately put a smile on my face. I immediately associated Haribo gummy bears from my childhood (Dragibus Soft) I love these and always associate them with the good old days when my parents were both still around and I had no worries in life. The feeling is really very nice and creates a certain warmth in me, which is why I like the fragrance so much and am now writing my first review. Now to the fragrance:

In the opening, I mainly notice grapefruit and a sweet rose. Saffron and thyme complete and round off the whole. A slightly woody component hovers in the background. The cardamom brings slightly oriental vibes into play, but this is kept within limits.

In the drydown, the fragrance becomes woody and slightly vanilla-like. However, the fragrance remains warm, sensual and powerful even in drydown. A perfect harmony! I cannot (unfortunately) smell oud. I suspect that the oud has been perfectly encased by the ingredients and therefore doesn't come out at all. Or I'm just really nose-blind because I've already dealt with more extreme oud fragrances..... However, the fragrance is WONDERFUL even without any noticeable oud components!
Very round, elegant and beautiful composition. I had to smell it on my wrist the whole time. I see the fragrance as more suitable for special occasions such as going out or a nice evening for two, but it is actually quite universally applicable and can also be worn in your free time without any problems. I see the fragrance as more suitable for a man due to its woody character, but I also think that a woman can wear the fragrance without any problems due to its sweet component. In my opinion, Oud Republic can be worn at any time except in summer.

All in all, I can recommend everyone to try the Oud Republic! A really very pleasant and elegant rose fragrance with a woody/fruity twist. I have not smelled anything comparable so far.

Very pleasing DNA, which is why the fragrance is definitely a blind buy candidate.

I hope I could bring the fragrance a little closer! This is my first review and I call myself a layman (even though I have experience in the perfume world). I would be very happy to receive feedback or constructive criticism/suggestions to improve my future reviews

OUD REPUBLIC I Oud suitable for everyday use, but anything but "ordinary" I royal & multi-faceted

For me personally, Oud Republic is the best fragrance from Pana Dora. If you understand the concept behind the fragrance, you know why Ibrahim Al Zouabi as perfumer described this fragrance as "liquid gold", which has the idea of stimulating "inner peace". Oud and inner peace? Oud is animalistic, strong, present and sometimes "stalky" - how are you supposed to find inner peace with such a fragrance?
We will get to the bottom of this question in a moment by taking a closer look at Oud Republic, and I will say one thing in advance - the perfumer has implemented the idea brilliantly. Now to the Oud Republic :

- The fragrance starts - unexpectedly - surprisingly fresh at the beginning; you get a great grapefruit paired with noble, gentle saffron, which floats in a soft rose water. Given the name - Oud Republic - you would never expect this and are pleasantly surprised right from the start.

- The rose then becomes a little more prominent and blends with the slightly sweet and spicy cardamom and floral-balsamic lavender on an ambery base; perfectly blended, nothing offends or is overdosed. As the fragrance progresses, the softest oud with precious woods that I have ever smelled comes into play. The oud with the precious woods on this ambery base simply creates a perfect symbiosis; and the best thing? The freshness is retained, not in the form of grapefruit, but in the form of fir balsam, which adds a dry-woody, fresh, minimal-green accord.

- The longevity is really top and in the upper third, as is the projection. It's not a beast-fashion fragrance, but the scent still radiates very succinctly, especially in the first few hours. It does not radiate like an Ombre Nomade brute, angularly angular, but really mega pleasant, yet strong. My environment loves the fragrance!

Overall, I find the fragrance to be the perfect everyday oud companion, which surprises with special twists in the opening as well as in the drydown and has the recognizable Pana Dora DNA in it. Definitely worth a test!

The perfect oud fragrance

For me, Oud Republic is the perfect oud fragrance. Unlike many other oud fragrances, I am not overwhelmed by animal notes here The warm woody notes of the oud are more recognizable here. These are then perfectly rounded off with floral notes such as rose, which I personally find too noticeable.
Overall, a must buy if you want an oud fragrance where the scent is not overpowering and reminiscent of a stable.
