Introducing My Favourite House: N.C.P. Olfactives

If for some reason there was a situation that you could choose only one perfume house with you on a desert island for the rest of your life, which house would it be? This ancient question of a desert island has always amused me, because most people tend to think it would be a terrifying nightmare, but when I'm picturing a paradise in front of my eyes, I see a tropical uninhabited island. A dream for this introvert who's coming from a too cold country! Sea, sun and no people! Jokes aside (or, well, this wasn't even 100 % a joke 🙈), my perfume house for a desert island would definitely be N.C.P. Olfactives.

Founded by friends brought together by their passion for the uniqueness in individuals and self-expression. Our strongest belief is that people do not want to be categorised by age, gender or ethnicity - they want to be seen as individuals.

N.C.P. Olfactives: "Our Story"

Now Collective Products - N.C.P. - was founded by one of my favourite actresses, Noomi Rapace, with her friends in 2017. The idea was to create a series of fragrances, olfactive facets, that can be either worn just on their own or be mixed in hundreds of different ways to create unique signature scents and layering combinations for all possible situations.

N.C.P. fragrances can be purchased in various sizes and application methods: 2 ml spray discovery sets, 5 ml rollerballs that can be attached inside The Piece necklaces, 10 ml sprays and 50 ml sprays. Photo © Lempi.

I need lots of options (especially on a desert island, hahah!) and I love to choose my fragrance based on my moods and feelings. Obviously they might change during the day and sometimes also olfactory fatigue might bother me so it's great to have a brand like N.C.P. of which you can choose any fragrance and layer however you want whenever you want - and the result will always be gorgeous and balanced, not a mess like sometimes when you experiment with random layerings.

The names and the packagings of N.C.P. fragrances are "coded". They have numbered all 7 olfactive families, and the first number in the name of the fragrance is the code of the olfactive family. Also the amount of the stripes on the caps of the 50 ml bottles is significant: the more stripes, the more intense the fragrance is.

There are also three different series of fragrances. Seven Facets is the first original series consisting of one fragrance of each olfactive family.

Black Facets series consists of deeper, darker and more complex fragrances.

Gold Facets series was created to match Noomi Rapace's personal taste. The series is based on oud and the fragrances are bold, mysterious and luxurious.

If I lost the perfume, I was always in a panic before a red carpet, because I needed to smell me. It basically feels like a shield, it strengthens my aura and it's almost like an angel putting wings on you if you have the right smell.

I feel exactly the same way. Perfumes always relieve my anxiety, reduce stress and offer a relaxing escape. They help me to tolerate the neurological symptoms that I have every day due to my illnesses. They help my introvert side to deal with social situations, they give me strenght and confidence and make me feel like "me".

Me and my golden The Piece necklace.

For me The Piece is a symbol of my tribe, it binds us together but still allows all of us to examine our own style in mixtures and scents.

To avoid the situation that you would forget your fragrance or it would get lost in your bag, Noomi Rapace came with this idea of fragrance necklace and designed gorgeous The Piece. A stylish way to literally wear your fragrance and have it near you all the time and easily accessible whenever needed.

Me and my silver The Piece necklace.

The Piece comes in three colours: gold, silver and black. All N.C.P. fragrances can be bought in 5 ml rollerball vials that can easily be attached in The Piece necklace. You can also adjust the lenght of the chain so you can, for example, wear two (or even three) The Pieces at the same time if you're wearing a layering combination.

Dare to combine! Silver and gold, cold and warm shades, different fragrances. There are no rules in fashion, there are no rules in layering. This is me wearing my gold and silver The Piece necklaces. I have always loved the idea of wearing whatever I want.

The Piece necklaces come in a luxurious packaging that includes also two 5 ml vials of "Olfactive Facet 701 - Leather & Vetiver | N.C.P.", which is Noomi Rapace's signature scent.

The brilliant minimalistic design of The Piece necklace makes it suitable for any style and any gender. Noomi Rapace herself shows a great example how the necklace can be worn anywhere anytime, and I want to share with you these two collages that I made of Noomi Rapace's "The Piece styles", based on one of my Pinterest boards.

You don't need to decide what you are, nobody needs to know who you have sex with, who you fall in love with, what you wear and what kind of fragrance you are wearing. It's up to you.

The freedom and variability and how the individual fragrances are so minimalistic but complex at the same time are the intriguing things of N.C.P. Olfactives for me. Some of their fragrances, like "Olfactive Facet 401 - Lavender & Juniper | N.C.P.", I personally feel like wearing only on their own without layering.

One of my favourite layering combinations is "Olfactive Facet 201 - Apple & Driftwood | N.C.P." & "Olfactive Facet 102 - Ginger & Lime | N.C.P.". It's fresh, marine, zesty and a little bit boozy.

My other favourite combos include amber-woody-clean "Olfactive Facet 702 - Musk & Amber | N.C.P." & "Olfactive Facet 601 - Amber & Gaiacwood | N.C.P.", and citrus-gourmands like "Olfactive Facet 102 - Ginger & Lime | N.C.P." & "Olfactive Facet 703 - Tonka Bean & Moka | N.C.P." and "Olfactive Facet 101 - Clementine & Violet Flower | N.C.P." & "Olfactive Facet 501 - Iris & Vanilla | N.C.P.".

When I'm on a sunny floral-fruity mood, I combine three fragrances: "Olfactive Facet 301 - Jasmine & Sandalwood | N.C.P.", "Olfactive Facet 101 - Clementine & Violet Flower | N.C.P." and "Olfactive Facet 201 - Apple & Driftwood | N.C.P.".

The options are endless, which I personally love. When I spray one N.C.P. fragrance on the morning, I have no idea what I will end up smelling like during the day, because I can either stick to the same fragrance or explore the whole library of combinations and even find something new and exciting. I know that there are several other brands that have similar concepts but so far of all of those N.C.P. has definitely felt most like me.

"Olfactive Facet 101 - Clementine & Violet Flower | N.C.P.", which is my current N.C.P. favourite both on its own and for layering. It has become one of my top favourite fragrances of all time, too. It's a gorgeous lotion-like powdery citrus, so simple and versatile yet unique at the same time. Photo © Lempi.

Are you familiar with N.C.P. Olfactives and what do you think about the house? Have you tried layering and do you have any favourite combinations? And... Which perfume house would you choose on a desert island? 😄🏝️
