Happy Fragrant Halloween Everybody!
Halloween has been my personal favourite holiday since childhood. Or actually October 31st is not even an official holiday here in Finland. We have our own traditional day for honouring the deceased, it's called pyhäinpäivä ("All Saints' Day") and it's the first Saturday of November every year. But I prefer real Halloween which has always been a happy celebration for me, and I have been drawn to dark gothic horror aesthetics as long as I can remember. Phantom of the Opera, Dracula and Frankenstein were my favourite stories when I was about 10 years old - and they still are.
I have also always loved all dark, strange and spooky smells. For example as a child I fell in love with dusty musty wet aromas of old cellars and attics. Oh yes, I was the ultimate weirdo kid in the neighbourhood, no doubt! Even today I have noticed that my taste in fragrances is exceptionally wide, I love almost all perfume genres and it's very rare to me to dislike any fragrance.
During this October I have been very drawn to gourmand smells though. That's why my Halloween SOTD is super delicious Pumpkin Cake Pops!
This sweet yummy perfume also keeps me warm because surprisingly this year the winter came to Finland exceptionally early. Lapland has been covered in snow for over a month. I live in Southern Finland but it's been snowing several days, and since yesterday the weather has been so cold that the snow even stayed and didn't melt so everything is covered in white here too now. I remember that last time we got snowy Halloween these levels was over 15 years ago, usually Helsinki metropolitan area won't get snow before the last weeks of November.
