Hello dear Community,
I've been on Parfumo for several months now, but I never managed to write a comment. I wanted to dedicate my first comment to a very special fragrance and ended up with Kalan. But why Kalan?
I'll start from the beginning. In my current time as a "perfume fan" I have already tested some fragrances and already have a small collection at home. I especially like the Marly fragrances, which is why I tested Kalan as well. The exciting thing about Kalan is that everyone perceives and interprets this fragrance differently, at least in my environment.
To the fragrance:
For me Kalan starts extremely spicy with a light green fresh note. I can also perceive a little sweet at the beginning, but only very discreetly. The association with blood orange in my eyes is not juicy but rather dry and somehow dusty. This remains for 20-30 minutes, but what happens afterwards is simply heavenly. This fragrance has such an incredibly dynamic course!
The "dusty" almost stinging accents of the opening gradually move into the background and disappear after about 1 hour. And that's the moment the scent rushes in. It gets fruity, very fruity. In my eyes, definitely orange/red citrus fruits - orange, blood orange, maybe Manadrine? - i can't say for sure. Moreover, the fragrance develops such a perfectly balanced sweetness, which gives stability to the fragrance in my eyes. This sweetness is by no means too heavy or too heavy, but rather the opposite. She's present but doesn't kill anyone. Beside the sweetness, spices and amber are still perceptible for me. The spicy notes are no longer as sharp as at the beginning and now harmonize well with the sweetness and amber.
With Kalan you can speak of a real course of fragrance, because it develops through and through and smells different at every time. There are always different accents that set the tone and that's what makes Kalan so exciting for me. In the drydown, the fragrance gradually catches on, but it doesn't seem linear at all; the dynamic already mentioned is still recognizable.
Durability and Sillage:
The durability is outstanding. On my skin, it's 10-12 hours loose. Of course, the fragrance flattens out a little after 4-6 hours. The Sillage is good, not too strong but also not weak. For this fragrance really perfect.
To sum up: For me Kalan is a real masterpiece and in my eyes definitely one of Marly's best. It is extremely interesting and it is once again a fragrance that is really fun to deal with. It's fresh, spicy and sweet. It certainly won't appeal to the completely broad masses, but it shouldn't at all. He is so unique and definitely a niche scent. It is extremely exciting because it is interpreted so differently. I love to wear Kalan and have included him firmly in my collection.
