Bright, Fast, Vivid
Do you know the feeling when the darkness of night slowly approaches? No, not a cold winter night. A refreshing night after a long summer day, a cool breeze, more blue than black.
The moment of the show, when the atmosphere is just warming up and the audience is now eagerly awaiting the world star. And then he finally steps onto the stage.
Hello? Still awake? If not, you will be now.
15 seconds in and it’s already clear what a magnificent show this will be. The deep bass reverberates through the crowd. A gigantic light and laser show illuminates the night. Beads of sweat trickle down foreheads. The festival-goers dance to the rhythm of the music.
No, not hard rock music. An electronic, youthful sound, dance music, more beat than instrument.
And after the DJ has given it his all, it’s time to quiet down again and gradually calm down backstage, relax, talk with colleagues.

Now, you can think what you want about this music and such events, but for me, this fragrance fits perfectly for such occasions. That’s why it’s quite easy to draw a connection here: A strong performance with a lot of power, mass appeal (crafted) and definitely brings joy.

In my opinion, the focus of Dua Supernova is clearly on the top note. The fruity-refreshing combination of grapefruit and the other citrus notes gives you a kickstart to the day like two shots of espresso. You just feel alive immediately. This bright, fresh, and cool-blue start lasts about an hour and a half and makes a proper sillage that draws attention to its wearer.
The transition to the heart and later base occurs quite smoothly, and the fragrance becomes (a bit too quickly for me) noticeably quieter. This is probably because the fresh notes lose their brilliance. However, they make way for a woody-dusty base, which some describe as a "pencil note." Those familiar with Aqua Vitae Forte know what I mean. In detail, no note stands out clearly for me; overall, it smells like dry, rugged wood with a hint of freshness. A warming touch from vanilla or benzoin shines through very lightly but never takes center stage.
Solidly crafted, the base lasts over 6 hours, with a rather close-to-the-skin sillage. The intensity can thus be compared to the story described at the beginning. But that’s enough, because by then you’ve definitely had your fun with the fragrance.

Do you need it?
No, if you already have other citrus-fresh fragrances that suit you better. Personally, I miss a creative twist, which not everyone might like, but would make it my fragrance.
Yes, if you are looking for a super-fresh “go-to” for summer that many will enjoy and is suitable for both everyday wear and the office. That would be a fragrance you could also happily gift, as you can’t go wrong with it.

And when the night is over and the fragrance has faded, you can always reapply.

Berlin turns nice people into crazy junkies
About a year and a half ago, a friend recommended a perfume to me that he really liked. Somehow, curiosity got the better of me, so I set off.

Berlin Ku’damm, Karstadt
“Excuse me, I can’t find this perfume, do you have it?”
“Hmm, no, I don’t know that one, maybe ask at Douglas.”

Berlin Ku’damm, Douglas, 10 minutes later
“Excuse me, I can’t find this perfume, do you have it?”
“Hmm, no, I’ve never seen that, maybe ask at KaDeWe.”

Berlin Ku’damm, KaDeWe, 15 minutes later
“Excuse me, I can’t find this perfume, do you happen to have it?”
“Hmm, Kurkdjian..... please follow me.”

And from then on, a completely new world opened up in my life. Back then, I was limited to Douglas at most and had no idea that there were so many damn different perfumes out there.

So, I followed the guy through KaDeWe, feeling really strange, into a small corner under the escalator (At that time, MFK didn’t have its own stand there yet). I showed a lady there the photo again, who then sprayed it on a test strip and handed it to me (Until then, I also didn’t know that perfumes could be so exclusive that you can’t do it yourself).
“Ah, the good Amyris. This is the scent here.”

Okay, enough said about the scent, for me it was fresh-sweet back then, smelled good, somehow also familiar. For me, today it’s floral-powdery with a hint of creaminess. Sure, nothing exciting, but my favorite in spring and very suitable for everyday wear.

Still, I wanted to share my experience with this scent with you, my entry into the niche, from complete ignorance to the beginning of a long journey that became a real passion. It all started with Amyris homme.

Back then, it was a shock to see that a perfume could actually cost €130. However, since it was still clearly perceptible on the test strip after a week, I thought to myself, I’ll just get it for Christmas, that’s something special.
And that was a good decision, because everything that followed was completely new and incredibly interesting for me.

“Excuse me, are you looking for something specific?”
“Thanks, I just wanted to test a few new ones here, but I’ve already found them.”

Champagne Day-Date II
“Boarding is in 30 minutes anyway, I'll be right there!”

It has already happened four times. Twice in Munich and twice in Palma. Every time I pass through security, I sneak through the Duty Free one more time and am delighted every time when they have Fabulous in stock.
Admittedly, at first I was also a bit disappointed, as the expectations for the scent were very high. But you just have to test it more often. It deserves at least 5 chances.
By now, I love it. Fabulous starts for me with the smell of that cheap plastic from inflatable pool rings, but quickly transitions into a creamy-sweet, somewhat gourmand note. I perceive the heart note like one of those candy canes you find at the fair. Towards the end, it becomes a bit leathery/woody, but then it quiets down.
“For those days when you feel a little bit fabulous.” - as Tom Ford himself once mentioned. Perfectly described. Walk of Fame. Superficial, Fancy, Bling-Bling. The look of Paris Hilton, yet you can feel there’s serious money in the bank!
This is exactly how I want to smell when I'm shopping in Hollywood at 27 degrees and take off my sunglasses because I can't see anything on my iPhone screen otherwise.
This is exactly how I want to smell when I'm driving a white Mercedes-Benz drop-top through Ibiza and buying a Chia-Chai-Latte at Starbucks. With extra cream and caramel.
This is exactly how I want to smell when I'm sipping my Moët in a hot tub at a rooftop party and chatting with Lilly and Jessi about cake recipes.
For those days when you just don’t take masculinity too seriously ;)
For me, it’s truly a beautiful, carefree feel-good scent. I can just have fun with it!

Part 1: Fascination

Again and again, the bass pounds in my stomach. This week, I took the last exam of my studies and thought it would be a good idea to go out and celebrate. In Berlin. Techno club.
So I’m dancing there with my girlfriend, shortly after I discovered my passion for perfumes.

We had been in the club for just over an hour when it hit me. An unknown cloud hits my face and nose. Wow. I’ve never smelled anything like this before. Somewhat woody, interesting, incredibly alluring. Where is it coming from?
In a trance, I spin around trying to find more of it. But I find nothing. Completely gone. Ah stop, there it is again! This distinctive scent, it is truly unique.
A woman about 20 years older than me, wearing a hat, walks past me. That’s unique here too. I follow her to the bar, wanting to talk to her.

“Wow! What perfume is that?”

She shakes her head.

“Your perfume, can you please tell me what it is?”

She turns around and walks away. Huh? Did I do something wrong?

Two hours fly by, and my question remains unanswered. My girlfriend taps me, she needs a break from dancing. We go to the edge of the dance floor and sit down. And there it is again. Wow!
The unknown woman with the hat is sitting right next to me and talking to someone. In German. I tap her, she turns to me.

“Sorry, I asked you earlier, I would love to know what perfume you’re wearing, it’s incredible!”

And finally, she had to smile a little.

“Try to read it.”

Huh? Read it? I smell her neck, but I just don’t know it.

“What is it?”
“It was recommended to me recently in a perfumery, Molecule 01.”

What? That’s Molecule 01? I had read a lot about this scent, but had never smelled it until now. The excitement was huge.

“You have that? I’ve wanted to test it for so long! It suits you wonderfully!” (It really did suit her wonderfully)

Then she pulled something out of her handbag. Ta-da, a bottle of Molecule 01. She handed it to me to test, and I sprayed a little on my wrist.
(I was so fascinated that I took a picture of it, so I know it was exactly at 5:04 AM)
I chatted a bit more with the lady and we said our goodbyes. That was it, my first encounter with this scent. I was an instant fan.

Part 2: Does it have to be like this?

But the story continues. I had the scent on my arm now and wanted to know more. I had read that this scent affects people differently. My girlfriend, for example, couldn’t smell anything at that spot. What a shame! But I wanted to test it even more.

So I walked through this club, repeatedly asking random strangers if they could smell anything (everyone except my girlfriend could smell something). Most of the reactions were very positive.
But then there was this one woman. I asked her too if she could smell anything and pointed to my wrist.

“Yes, it smells like perfume.”
“Yes! But some people just can’t perceive it!”
“A perfume that smells like nothing? Yeah sure, I can fool myself, thanks.”

I was totally disappointed and thought to myself, stupid cow.
But it wasn’t until the next morning that I realized what I had actually done. I walked through a techno club trying to convince people that there’s a perfume that sometimes smells like nothing. Yeah sure, they’ll definitely buy that from me!

I felt a bit ashamed but had to laugh at my behavior. For me, that’s the fascination behind it!

Three days later, I bought Molecule 01.
