Scent Battle: Supernova vs. Elysium
Yesterday I made a comparison, side by side, of Elysium Cologne Parfum and Supernova.

In terms of scent, for my nose, Elysium wins by far. The opening of the Elysium is citrusy but smooth, light, almost transparent and with a touch of red fruits. The opening of Supernova has those citruses typical in some clones, which I pick up at the CDNIM drydown, at the opening of Bucephalus No. XI. It is not unpleasant, but it is more sharp, more synthetic.

In the drydown, Elysium is a bit woody and has a musk that makes the perfume rounder and more comforting, I would even say sexy. Supernova also has woods and spices, but it lacks musk.

Supernova is very pleasant in the air, but when I smell my skin, there is something that does not charm me, unlike Elysium.

Concerning performance, Supernova wins easily. It lasts two hours more on my skin and the sillage is more noticeable.

Elysium: 9/10.
Supernova: 8/10.

Fruity Summer Dream - Love at First Spray?
Admittedly - some Roja are already very interesting solely due to their presentation or marketing. But the one copied here had me at the fragrance pyramid. A wild mix of fruity notes paired with a select array of various fruit components. Additionally, especially in the top note, there are some citrus accents. Of course, other components can also be recognized - however, the fruity notes are primarily in the foreground.

I want to preface by saying that I decided to test the clone first due to the price. Since you often read that DUA comes pretty close to the original, I wanted to see for myself.

The first time I wore it, I applied it sparingly at the office. It accompanied me beautifully throughout the entire workday, and in the appropriate summer climate, it shines best. A colleague approached me, saying she finally knew where that lovely scent was coming from, as she had been trying to locate the fragrance for hours.

Now I come to the actual story that completely convinced me of this scent.
Arriving home in the evening, I made myself comfortable in the living room. Suddenly, I perceived a scent that I couldn't shake off. At first, I couldn't identify this pleasant smell and continued reading in my book. But eventually, my curiosity grew too strong, and when I reached the bathroom, I immediately knew where it was coming from. It was that one spray with which I had scented the collar of my T-shirt. Unbelievable how beautifully this fragrance comes across when it lingers in the air! The sillage is noticeably perceptible in the first hours. After that, it gradually retreats but remains detectable for a good 8-9 hours. Even in my apartment, it was perceptible for days due to that one spray on the collar of the T-shirt, despite me being several rooms away.

The association with Aventus is undeniable. It also reminds me of Aventus. This means they go in a similar direction, but upon closer inspection, they are indeed different.
I would like to quote the user "Noche27" here, who summed it up quite well with his statement:
"Supernova is the brief, bright flash of a massive star at the end of its life through an aventus-like explosion."

For me, it is the perfect discovery for summer. After wearing it three times, I immediately bought a bottle, as it will accompany me as a signature scent this summer :)

Fragrance Explosion
I once wrote down some of my thoughts on the business model of Dua Fragrances in a blog post. In this comment, I am referring exclusively to the scent. Dua markets this fragrance as a mix of Roja Elysium pour Homme Parfum and Parfum Cologne. I am only familiar with the P. Cologne version of the original.

Before I ordered a sample of Supernova, I had a sample of Roja Elysium (Parfum Cologne). I found it truly exceptional; I had never smelled a fragrance like it before. The price of this, in my opinion, cheapest Roja on the market, put me off. Not even the beautiful bottle could change that.
At some point, I read about Supernova and how similar it is - with better longevity. Naturally, I had to try it. And lo and behold, I smell almost no difference from Roja. Except perhaps a stronger mildness (oxymoron unintentionally). Supernova is a tiny bit sweeter in my perception, a little more pleasing.

Regarding the scent itself: I can't pick out any individual fragrance components in the top note, except perhaps the lemon (grapefruit?). However, you get quite a hefty freshness kick to the neck. There isn't even a shower gel feeling (which I wouldn't find negative, by the way), but simply a fresh, sporty, yet still noble and elegant whole, an olfactory fireworks display. In this respect, I find the name of the fragrance very fitting.
In the "dry down," the freshness remains, but becomes a little more bitter. In the base, a bit of light leather and fresh wood join in.

The sillage is perfectly fine; it doesn't wake the dead, and colleagues don't perceive you excessively. At least, no one has dared to say anything about it yet. The longevity is sufficient for the whole day and leaves nothing to be desired.

"Pschwsch..Av...hschmms...tus...brbbl...dropper...bwllp...ladies....grmmp...?" I am currently being whispered from the depths of the internet. Some claim that Supernova resembles the one whose name must not be mentioned and who is attributed with magical powers. I can detect no similarity to Voldemort...uh...Aventus, except in the first few seconds. If it were so, it would neither be bad nor commendable for me. Supernova is a great fragrance that I have never smelled before (except at Elysium(!)) and that I currently love to spray on in the mornings.
The range of use seems almost endless; I can't think of an occasion where this great fragrance wouldn't fit.

Thank you for reading.

Edit: I have downgraded my rating because Supernova somehow lacked soul for me. It felt too sterile...

The Highlight from Overseas
There are days when you can't see the forest for the trees.
That's exactly how I feel with all the new fragrances hitting the market.
Often, it's just a small glimmer of hope that quickly fades, and the fragrance I tested unfortunately doesn't make it onto the list.
This prompted me to test some overseas fragrances.
In my research, I came across Dua Fragrances.
I quickly decided to order a few scents.
Supernova was the first fragrance to make it into my shopping cart.
I was so excited when the delivery arrived.

Here is my review of Supernova:

Dua's interpretation of Roja Parfums Elysium is a mix of Cologne and Eau de Parfum.
Aromatic juniper berries from the Cologne and the vanilla-infused leather accord of the perfume should create Supernova.
The opening is very citrusy with grapefruit, lime, and bergamot.
A certain floral mix of rose and jasmine paired with a bit of pepper and apple forms the heart. In the end, vanilla and labdanum provide a sweetness that beautifully rounds off the fragrance.

For me, Supernova is my personal highlight of 2018.

Longevity is good, and the projection is a nice medium.

Conclusion:
A good and affordable mix-dupe of Roja Elysium Cologne and the Eau de Parfum.
For fans of Aventus and Sauvage, it is certainly worth a test.

A Journey to the Fruit Oasis
Rojas Elysium Cologne is one of those fragrances that I loved from the very beginning. If it weren't for the poor performance, which has unfortunately put a damper on my decision to purchase such an expensive bottle. Generally, I would describe myself as a lover of fresh-fruity scents, as long as they don't take on that typical "shower gel character." In my search for alternatives with better longevity, I stumbled upon DUA Fragrances, which apparently offers quality dupes - or in their words, "interpretations" - of famous niche fragrances in their range. At first, I was put off by the many differing opinions on these scents and the - compared to other dupe houses - very high prices ($80 with shipping to Germany for 30ml Extrait without a discount). However, those who research carefully will find that there are almost constant discount promotions (30%) that lower the price to a more acceptable level, so I ultimately decided to purchase a bottle of Supernova. But since this is not meant to be a review of DUA itself, let's move on to the scent.

Right after spraying, a mix of various citrus fruits hits me, blended with something berry-like. This is truly a fragrance explosion that I have not experienced in such a form - even with the original. It is difficult to filter out individual notes, but I can definitely detect a bitter grapefruit paired with lemons. If I were to describe the scent in colors, it would be orange/yellow at the opening, with a bit of blue and red in the background. It is also somewhat piercing, but not unpleasant. This explosion dissipates over time, but it leaves a wonderful fruit cocktail on the skin that truly impresses me. For me, the scent does not develop much further; it remains relatively linear over time, becoming just a bit "smoother" and less fizzy than at the beginning. The scent is never really sweet for me, but rather refreshingly bitter with a very slight sweetness in the base.

For me, Supernova is a great example of the type of scents that smell much better in the air than directly on the skin. It surrounds the wearer with a sillage that is perceived as very pleasant by those nearby. Additionally, the longevity of Supernova is - at least on my skin - significantly better than the original. It easily lasts 8-9 hours for me, and the sillage is also present for a good 2-3 hours. For a fresh scent, it is definitely one of my best in this regard. I can’t imagine an occasion where this scent wouldn’t serve its purpose. Whether in the office, at home, when going out, or just to evoke the image of a green oasis in the sunshine - Supernova does a very good job.

Finally, a small statement on the differences compared to Roja. I have never been able to test the perfume version of Elysium, only the perfume cologne. Supernova is said to be a hybrid of both. You can definitely smell that Roja is on a qualitatively different level, but that doesn’t bother me. Yes, Supernova smells a bit synthetic - no, it doesn’t bother me. I would recommend everyone to test both if possible. For me, the differences are not strong enough to justify paying full price for a bottle of Roja, especially since Supernova has far better performance. In the end, everyone has to form their own opinion. I am certainly looking forward to spring to finally be able to wear this scent regularly again!

Addendum: after nearly 3 months with the scent, I have to admit that the strongly piercing synthetic note is starting to annoy me over time. Therefore, I had to lower my rating. It is still a good scent and close to the original, but in my opinion, there are higher quality alternatives. However, it must be said that Supernova has by far the best performance of all the dupes. If you can live with the synthetic note and performance is important to you, this is worth grabbing.

In the opening, we get a cheap citrus scent. In the drydown, the grapefruit remains but with spices and woodsy notes. Elysium is much better

It's more than the sum of its parts. A sauvage-like fruit explosion on the edge of the Iso-E-Super galaxy with the strongest luminosity.

Elysium Cologne has the longevity of a perfume. Clearly superior to Rojas in price, without major quality losses. Strongly recommended!

Roja Elysium without all the things that make a good fragrance. Flat, synthetic, sharp, and outrageously expensive.

DUAs, when seen as dupes, tend to exaggerate, almost parodying the originals. Well-intentioned Elysium, but unfortunately too much Cedrat Boise.

Beautiful, zesty-fresh scent that only briefly reminds you of Aventus - then much more clearly of Elysium C. and La Yuqawam Ambergris Showers!
