A Weekend Trip to Berlin that Ended in Thoughts of Versailles
Sometimes we need a bit of hustle and bustle, so off to Berlin. There’s always something new to discover, but I still have to go to KaDeWe. I’m only interested in the breathtaking perfume department. I always feel like I’m in my perfume heaven there.
This time, however, I ultimately stopped at Birkholz and wanted to test a few scents.
And then, after the third fragrance, I got to test Versailles. I smelled it, and yes, I absolutely wanted to try it on my skin and really let it sit for a long time. So I strolled around again, repeatedly smelling my hand.
It starts off very powerful with a cinnamon note, without becoming bothersome; the bergamot gives off slight citrus vibes. As it develops, the frankincense paired with lavender comes through, which is really beautiful. The cinnamon remains pleasantly present the whole time. I don’t perceive the patchouli, but the lovely vetiver is noticeable.
For me, it’s such a beautiful sweet creamy scent that has a wonderful spicy note.
With this fragrance, you somehow feel like you’re tracing the footsteps of the Palace of Versailles. It’s as if you’re wearing an opulently beautiful dress, complemented by the scent, and strolling through the gardens of Versailles.
Birkholz is a fantastic brand with incredibly beautiful fragrances; I love this scent. It can be worn for everyday life, as well as for lovely evenings and big events. In a larger office, I would be a bit more cautious, as Versailles is not a quiet, subtle scent, but rather somewhat loud.

Chanel Gabrielle a classic yet so new!
Everyone knows Chanel. Even those who do not own 80 or more perfumes. Coco Chanel is also a familiar name to almost everyone. This is often perceived as too soapy and too old-fashioned. But Chanel is indeed Chanel, and the classics will remain. I personally love Chanel, as they create beautiful fragrances and have very good products in the cosmetics field.
Now back to Chanel Gabrielle. This scent first reminded me of Chanel. So many new brands have emerged, and other fragrances have been so hyped that Chanel slipped my mind.
But then I had Gabrielle in my hands. It is a radiant composition. It is indeed a pure floral fragrance with the four most beautiful flowers, in my opinion. Ylang-Ylang starts off, then my beloved tuberose joins in, especially as it becomes creamy in the dry-down. The orange blossom is kept subtle but still present.
It is a beautiful floral-creamy scent that shines with pure elegance.
But one must not see Chanel Gabrielle as a cute floral fragrance. Because it is not.
A compliment to femininity with elegance and grace.

So special, but recognized too late
I noticed the hype around Apollonia and yes, I saw all the enthusiastic faces of people who bought Apollonia. However, I never really engaged with it myself. That was definitely a big mistake for me. Until I read the reviews on Parfumo. The fragrance sparked such an interest that I wanted to welcome it into my home. Today, Apollonia arrived at my place and what a beautiful scent it is. So pure, so floral fresh with white flowers, I can faintly detect the iris butter in the drydown and the musk, so delicate yet still present. It is so special that I can see myself wearing this fragrance at my daughter's confirmation. Me in a lovely dark blue dress, matching with my daughter's dress. There I stand with my husband, applauding as she walks past us. It is so wonderful that fragrances tell stories or are still being told. I am enchanted and Xerjoff delivers 100% with this scent.

A Rendezvous with Secret Rendezvous
I was already lurking for the mail, knowing it would arrive today. I was just afraid of missing the delivery since I wasn't feeling quite well. But everything worked out, and I held the package in my hands.
Now I unwrapped the perfume, once again amazed by the bottle, with many little details, and sprayed the scent simply into the room.
What awaited me first were orange blossoms, delicately combined with a beautiful rose, but a tender young rose. I barely noticed the jasmine. Then musk joined our cedarwood. The patchouli and vetiver rounded it off.
On the skin, it's 100% better. For me, breathtaking.
I am so in love with this scent, as it also becomes creamy and somehow remains fresh.
Additionally, Secret Rendezvous radiates an elegance that carries you away!
Actually, I should give a thank-you speech. Because I received this sample in a package from a very dear perfume collector.
So, of course, I also had samples included in this package, and there’s another scent, my goodness, this is going to get wild.

Not Sought but Found
I received La Rose Bleue as a sample in a package from a good friend; she thought it might be something for me. The brand was unknown to me, just like the fragrance itself.
The scent captivated me from the very beginning. Just this floral note from the rose, I feel no fruitiness at all. The amber adds a subtly woody touch. I was shockingly in love.
I had to have the fragrance. Through a very sweet, sugary friend, who is practically at home on Parfumo, I was connected with someone who also frequents Parfumo and is very kind and nice, who owns this fragrance and might sell it. This particular, lovely Parfumo user did just that.
Today, the fragrance has moved in with me. I personally confess and celebrate this scent very much and am simply happy.
