Stagnation in Vanilla Harmony
Elizabeth and James is a label by the Olsens. Straightforward fashion with a touch of romance and a hint of dreamy hippie.
Nirvana (Sanskrit) is a term from Buddhism and is described as a transcendent emptiness. In contrast to Samsara (the path of suffering), Nirvana is the goal and thus a letting go of all worldly things, especially factors like egoism, greed, vanity, etc. In Nirvana, we find that blissful calm, a state of being that brings us in harmony with ourselves.

Somewhat startled, I followed the words of my predecessor, who seeks dark and sultry hours with the association of sex in Nirvana. If Buddha were still alive, this statement would have surely transported him to the aforementioned place. In hell, I would rather expect high heels and leather ;-)

But what is the deal with the Olsens' fragrance?
When I ordered it from a traveler to the USA last May, I had no idea what I was getting into. I am also not disappointed with what I received.
In the media, Nirvana Black is described as a flattering woody-vanilla scent with a hint of dark powderiness. A look at the Olsens' fashion makes it seem absolutely fitting. A witness to hip mainstream that can be seen and, of course, sniffed.

The scent is linear, starting with the mentioned woody-powdery spice and gently floating into a fluffy vanilla cloud that is not sweet. What is interesting is this aromatic hint of synthetic, a touch of flattering textile cleaning synthesis that gives the fragrance an extraordinary touch. Whatever has been processed in this scent; it ends in a rather dry bed of woody violet root.

With it, I associate:
Calm
Relaxation
Gentleness
Letting go
Well-being
Simplicity
...

Conclusion:
As a gift, it is absolutely okay! But whether I would buy 50ml for €140 on Amazon, I seriously doubt. Not that I dislike it, quite the opposite, but it doesn't really fit my taste.
No explosion is to be expected from this scent, nor any innovation, and that may be the connection to its name: for now, everything is still, I linger peacefully in this dry woody vanilla cloud within myself - completely unexcited, harmonious, balanced, and naked - covered with a hint of violet root.
A very small (olfactory) taste of Nirvana?

For vanilla fans, it is definitely a tip, but unfortunately, it lacks the stuff to become a classic. Eventually, it will likely fade away quietly in its name, like many other beautiful fragrances before it.

I find parallels to: Vanilla Fields by Coty

.... and suddenly a princess!
What a wonderful, fresh, vibrant, flattering, and friendly scent! I didn't expect this! It came to me during a swap game and truly astonished me!

The opening is zesty and fruity, accompanied by a delightful sparkle. I immediately think of a refreshing cocktail with citrus fruits, peach ice cream, and sparkling wine. A dollop of cream crowns the whole thing, taking the acidity out of the mix with minimal sweetness. The delicate hint of jasmine and the full bloom of a large flowering shrub rose in apricot-pink attire break through the fruity-fresh top note, developing into a floral-fruity cream that is unmatched. A picture of youthful beauty, paired with almost regal elegance seems to appear before my eyes. A bright, cheerful laugh, framed by curved, softly shining lips and snow-white teeth. The naturally made-up face with a delicate, not too pale complexion, the hair tamed but falling naturally. The whole appearance is simple, modern, and yet elegant. A young princess, perhaps Kate?

I am amazed, as I am aware that I am wearing a fragrance from the low-price segment, and this is not recognizable to me at any moment. Viventy is youthful, cheerful, and smells high-quality, noble, and extremely elegant. The comparison to Allure by Chanel is understandable.
Friends of this fragrance direction could easily fall hopelessly in love with Viventy!

Coincidence or intention?
Who was there first? The chicken or the egg?

Actually, I shouldn't care about the question, as I see Viventy neither as a cheap substitute for the mentioned fragrance nor as a dupe for it - but as a standalone, absolutely successful creation!
Connections in fragrance composition can be found repeatedly, without it necessarily being about copying an idea...

Viventy has received a full score of 100% from me because, in comparison to other fragrances I have rated so highly:

- it simply smells wonderful and high-quality
- it lasts phenomenally long (... when some priceless niche fragrances fade)
- it puts me in a good mood

and also:

- its price is unbeatable
- its sillage is perfectly balanced

and because with this fragrance, I can feel like a charming princess every time, for a delightful moment!

In my eyes, reasons enough :D

As a lover of high-quality fragrances, I can wholeheartedly recommend this little and valuable budget star in the perfume sky!
No, it doesn't always have to be the expensive caviar... sometimes a simple ripe peach tastes much juicier :D

Powerwoman's Elixir
So much has already been written and philosophized about this fragrance that I pondered for a long time whether I should really add another intellectual outpouring.
However, as is the case with so many reformulated fragrances, consumers today lack comparison values to understand what made this scent special. A wonderful stroke of luck, which brought me a larger quantity of the original from the USA, made the decision for me:

It was created in 1981 on behalf of Fred and Gale Hayman, who crowned the success of their upscale boutique in Beverly Hills with this fragrance. The scent found a very high sales volume, and therefore it was all the more surprising that this perfume company was sold to Avon in 1987. The formula of "Giorgio" was not changed, and then followed the fragrances "Red" and "Wings," both of which were also exceptional and sold successfully.
Then the company was taken over by Procter & Gamble, and the fragrances were reformulated in a cheap manner to the point of unrecognizability - or should I rather say: adulterated? The olfactory death sentence of an extraordinary fragrance line was pronounced and could no longer be stopped.
A test a few weeks ago left me astonished at how successfully one can destroy a fragrance!

Giorgio truly had the makings of a classic!

Technically speaking, it was a quantum leap in the world of perfume manufacturing, as it was one of the first "linear" fragrances that came onto the market in the 80s, replacing the classic three-stage system. This perfume, heavy in its concentration and sillage, impresses with its lasting, simultaneous unfolding of the notes, which could be likened to the explosion of an atomic bomb. Immediately after spraying, the scent veil envelops the skin and remains with a far-reaching and consistently lasting sillage for hours.
The fragrance can be described as exceptionally rich and sensual, embodying a very feminine elegance.
The ingredients smell noble and valuable - this time they really went all out, not skimping.

Handling a fragrance with such a powerful presence should of course be learned, no question! Here, being subtle is really not appropriate if one does not intend to trigger a fainting invasion.
But isn't that the case with many other fragrances as well?

*
Conclusion and personal impression:

Giorgio is a Powerwoman fragrance - nothing for wallflowers and shy guys.
Giorgio is neither unobtrusive nor reserved
Giorgio is also not quiet, does not sit still

Giorgio is a whirlwind, the sun, and as resounding as a 1000-watt laugh; full of impulsiveness and zest for life

A wonderful rich-floral fragrance filled with positive emotions and pure femininity - as plump as a ripe peach ...

It proudly stands among other Powerwoman fragrances like Boudoir Vintage and Poison Vintage.

By the way, I am tall, blonde, busty, loud, and anything but inconspicuous. I seem to intimidate gray mice and even some established men - just like "Giorgio,"
...that's why we probably understand each other so well! :D

... hahahahaha!

My Wonderful Laundromat
There was a time when I didn’t have a washing machine. Not only would buying one have blown my budget, but there was also no space in my tiny kitchen, let alone in my tiny bathroom for it. All of that didn’t really concern me, because downstairs, just around the corner, was a laundromat combined with a laundry service and dry cleaning. So, a place where you could get everything, and I mean everything, related to textiles clean.
I liked this laundromat and that nice, hardworking lady who ran it.... and I wasn’t the only one, as the place was always packed!

One can imagine a wash day like this:
With my overflowing laundry basket, I awkwardly open the door and am immediately greeted by a damp scent that consists of a mix of chemical substances, steam, and various laundry detergent aromas. PHEW - that really takes your breath away!
By the time I’ve set my basket down and joined the line at the counter, my nose gets used to the slightly biting but very clean-smelling odor. I am still far from the joys of freshly washed dry laundry. I wonder if I should have that nice white shirt with the red wine stains cleaned or should I treat it with bleach?
Finally, it’s my turn, and I ask the nice lady in the apron what to do.
“Child, what have you done this time? We’ll have to treat this specially and then best clean it! It’ll be ready in an hour and a half, if you want!”
Said and done!
I then have brands and filled cups of detergent and fabric softener handed to me for the rest of my laundry. Then I pick one of the few free machines, stuff the laundry in, and the cheerful washing can begin. I take my book out of my bag, sit down on the bench, and wait. Around me wafts the smell of all the substances from the general laundry, still mixed with a certain residual moisture that lingers in the air.

A good hour passes, the machine rests after the spin cycle, and I haul my fresh laundry back into the basket. It now smells wonderful of fabric softener and spring freshness, just like it’s always advertised by Clementine, Mr. Clean, and the General on TV. So not real spring... more like what the cleaning products industry promotes as an April-fresh spring.

Passing the small hand wash basin, which is currently being scrubbed by the nice lady with the “citrus-fresh” ATA scouring powder, I head to the dryer; it gets filled with the fresh wet laundry, and I wait another three-quarters of an hour until everything is dry.

The result is clean laundry with a hint of musk, flowers, and lemon......

My stained shirt is now ready and spotless again. I discreetly ignore the slightly biting chemical smell because I’m happy about the successful stain removal!

Now to pay quickly and rush home with my full clean basket to slip right into the shirt, yay!
Man, Clementine and Mr. Clean, if you could see me now, haha! I feel sparkling clean!

.... but it still tingles in my nose, even if it’s not as noticeable as it was at first! That’s just the downside of dry cleaning!

Conclusion:
Clean is a matter of interpretation! Many scents are associated with the term CLEAN, especially those we know from the industry. Synthetic aromas that we have come to associate with cleanliness through years of conditioning.
CLEAN has taken up this theme very authentically and implemented it! The scent “Cotton T-Shirt” is anything but natural, but it evokes exactly the memories that remind us of freshly washed and freshly cleaned items.

Personally, I see these kinds of scents less as perfume in its tradition and wouldn’t necessarily want to wear them on my skin as such. Nevertheless, I am positively surprised and see a use for “Cotton T-Shirt,” as I find it unbeatable as a textile scent! A spray or two on the shirt and I feel like it just came fresh from the described laundromat :D
The longevity is also significantly better than other synthetic textile fresheners from the large assortment of discount drugstores, which also don’t fit as well in a handbag :D

Always Stay Cool
I don’t even remember where it came from, but it arrived without any baggage. It had tucked itself away in the depths of a cupboard, and if I hadn’t been indulging in spring cleaning, it would still be slumbering there...
Behind the green cardboard box lies a bottle that looks old-fashioned, which could be a fraternal twin of the traditional 4711 Eau de Cologne.
The fragrance pyramid reads boringly, and so I try in vain to get rid of it.
No one wants it!
What to do?
I now half-heartedly open the sealed bottle and sniff at the neck: definitely that old 4711!
Then the question arises: why the new packaging and the name ICE?
Let’s play around with it and wait! (..being repeated on the other arm)
Wow, laughing, I draw the comparison to the aforementioned 4711 EdC and a hefty dose of Vicks Vaporub, because I now smell like an eucalyptus candy tastes :D
Wearable???
Conditionally!
The scent note, however, does not hold what Vicks promises, because hardly has it been written about, it has already vanished.
What remains is a pleasantly cool breeze on the skin that will accompany me for a very long time.
I suddenly feel lively, refreshed, and wide awake! And... I must admit: totally thrilled!
The delicate veil of lemons and oranges that hovers on my skin is insignificant and is olfactorily rather ignored by me.....

Conclusion:
This Eau de Cologne delivers on its promise! It serves less to scent oneself than for long-term refreshment. The trick lies clearly in the emphasis on "long-term," as this pleasant cooling effect lasts a long time. Due to the minimal, almost imperceptible sillage, another fragrance can be wonderfully layered over it. The freshness on the skin remains without any unpleasant odor, as I remember from the 4711 original.
So, nothing grandma, nothing grandpa - but a really cool guy!

I will keep this crisp freshie and regularly fill a small spray bottle with it. That way, I’ll have a good laugh when others are practically melting in the blazing heat of summer.
Dubai at 48° - here I come!!!! :D

ICE EdC is good, inexpensive, and the absolute freshness kick for summer. So.... always stay cool!
