An Ode to the Emotional Power of Perfume: The New "Memory Lane" Collection From Atelier des Ors

With the unisex fragrances "Blue Madeleine" and "Villa Primerose" the French label Atelier des Ors launches the new "Memory Lane" collection.

Blue Madeleine - A tribute to olfactory memory

I brought a spoonful of the tea to my lips, in which I had softened a piece of madeleine. But the moment the sip, mixed with the cake crumbs, touched my palate, I flinched and paid attention to the extraordinary thing that was going on inside me (...) A delicious pleasure had assaulted me, isolated, without the idea of its cause. (...) And suddenly the memory appeared to me.

The first creation captures the memory of freshly baked gourmet madeleines, refined with exotic spices and black tea. Inspired by Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time", the fragrance embodies the so-called madeleine effect, in which certain smells or taste experiences evoke old memories.

"Blue Madeleine" opens with a fresh, spicy blend of bergamot, pink pepper and a hint of warm cinnamon. A floral-sweet bouquet of French centifolia and black tea develops in the heart, surrounded by a hint of milk. The fragrance is rounded off with a creamy-sweet accord of Peru balsam and praline, paired with velvety sandalwood and the spicy freshness of juniper.

Villa Primerose - An elegant ode to the roots of perfumery

In the early days of perfumery, the most beautiful flowers were used to perfume the leather gloves worn by aristocrats at the time.Atelier Des Ors reinterprets this combination of rose and leather and turns this contrast of fragrances into a creative line that sublimates both.

Paying homage to the origins of perfumery and elegance, "Villa Primerose" combines a lush rose fragrance with a woody leather note, enveloped by delicate, sweet accents.

The fragrance journey begins with a fruity-spicy opening of pear, cardamom and pink pepper, followed by a floral-sweet, floral heart of ambrette, French centifolia (Rosa × centifolia) and iris. Finally, the composition ends in a warm, woody base note of leather, amberwood and musk, which lends the fragrance a sensual depth.

The new "Memory Lane" collection 

Both fragrances were created by Marie Salamagne for the "Memory Lane" collection from Atelier Des Ors. Inspired by the label's move to the historic Villa Primerose in Grasse, the new line celebrates the deep connection between fragrances and memories.

Each bottle is decorated with fragments of 24-carat gold leaf and bears the label's trademark: engraved rays symbolizing sunbeams. These elements pay homage to the crystal-cutting technique used in haute perfumery during the Art Deco period.

The new fragrances are available in bottle sizes of 100 ml.
