Something
This will be my fourth comment, let's see if I can make it less disheartening this time.

I don't own Epic Man, but I've bought some bottlings in the souk over the last few days. The others from Amouage are still waiting for their test on my skin and I wouldn't be surprised if a fragrance of it would remain as a purchase candidate. I usually already sniff the atomizers when the scents arrive, often there is already a lot to smell and the Amouages make me all together very curious.

Epic will probably not be a serious buyer, although I like the fragrance very much.
It is masculine, expressive, peculiar and pleasing, but the prelude ensures that I will not love this fragrance. I have planned to add to my small collection only what convinces me 100%, so to speak starts up and in the course not worse, but at most becomes better. Directly after spraying Epic Man develops a piercing medical note in my nose, so really not good at all.
In this respect I can understand Above's comment on it. Fortunately, it may only take 5 minutes (no stopwatch in use) to get comfortable. If what is now happening would last longer with me, I would be completely thrilled. I find it difficult to name the individual scent components as others here are able to, but of course the incense is clear, I smell woods and also the oud is already present. Very tasty, very strong, spicy and made for a self-confident wearer. Exactly such a thing is missing in my collection, which is rather located in the fresh area. Unfortunately it is already over after another hour. I have noticed that fragrances often do not stick to my skin for so long, maybe this has something to do with it. The durability in general of Epic Man is good no question, but what comes to me after this best phase is significantly weakened. Here I see the oud before the incense. Still a very pleasant fragrance, but in this phase, which lasts for hours until the end, other candidates convinced me more, e.g. Oud from Reminiscence. The latter I found only too feminine, but after wearing it several times I can imagine it very often on me.
All in all, Epic Man makes too much noise for me at the beginning, then I listen to a wonderful story, which unfortunately turns out to be a short story and finally the report just splashes to me.

Not fish, not meat
Inspired by the very benevolent comments, I got myself a 10 ml. Bottling ordered.

How good that I did not let myself be carried away to a blind purchase, because this smell and I do not find to each other. I like woody scents a lot, but I don't have any warmth here. Wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately the expected freshness is also missing. There is freshness, but not what I associate with fragrant freshness. Although I don't (yet) know Encre Noire, I think I know what some people mean by musty or gothic when they describe the original scent. Is of course pure projection, but subliminal in my nose here some of it resonates.
I can confirm what one of the prescribers called "ice-cold Sillage". Completely unapproachable this smell, radiates for me only: "don't come too close to me". There may be situations in which this is quite intentional.

I like the scent of freshly cut thuja (this is also the name of a prescriber), dear Vetiver,
and I love green scents. Only there's none of it in ENS for my nose. Forest, undergrowth ? No, rather a long abandoned and permitted swimming pool in a damp grass garden. I guess those are the aquatic notes. If I had to name a color, it'd be a gray with a hint of turquoise. Funnily enough, the liquid in the nebulizer looks the same. A frequently mentioned and in my opinion very negative attribute I can't deny myself at this point: I haven't tested any fragrance that seemed more synthetic to me
I am aware that there are many lovers of this fragrance, at this point my nose is obviously knitted differently.

What I like and what speaks for the fragrance is that it is unique in my not yet very great fragrance experience. I always like that. What I can't understand is a development in the fragrance pyramid. There is hardly any development happening with me, it starts and ends very similarly. The durability is very good for my skin with 8 hours and also the Sillage seems to be big enough to me. It's very difficult or impossible to judge alone.

Maybe you'll ask me why I give the scent a six after all. He's not as bad as the words I use to describe him. I do not want to rewrite, find everything appropriate, perhaps a small idea too negatively formulated. I can also imagine that other noses appreciate the uniqueness and cope well with the scent.

A scoop for me
After I had quite a success with my first commentary, contrary to my expectations, and the rated perfume was kicked into the barrel by me there, I would now like to celebrate one of my favorites duly for compensation. I'm making a little of it; readers who expect a concise description of the fragrance with the names of the individual components and their proportions in the course are warned here.

I have been a member of this great community since February 2019 and my "career" as a fragrance freak certainly resembles many.
In the past I only had one fragrance in the bathroom, mostly high quality fragrances from Dior, Chanel, Givenchy etc,
without me making the most of it. If one was empty, the next came.
When I was in the possession of "Terre d'Hermes", I met my girlfriend who said that this fragrance didn't work because it reminded her too much of her father. So I ended up with her looking for an alternative at Bleu de Chanel.
During a stay in Paris shortly after, we also bought a great, very own perfume, "Parfum Basque" in the shop of "Parfums et Senteurs du Pays Basque" (if I understood it correctly, Maître Christian Louis creates water-based perfumes there). His shop at Place des Vosges is a recommendation for all perfume-freaks here) . Now I suddenly had three fragrances in my closet. When the "Bleu de Chanel" and the "Basque" came to an end, this community came into play for me.
Looking for a fragrance description for the Terre d'Hermes, I ended up here. Longer time first of all as a reader. Wow - what a variety and abundance! Not only on scents, but also on different descriptions and comments.
So I wrote down some scents in my mind and went with my girlfriend to the turquoise chain to decide between 2-3 alternatives. My question whether they also had "Aventus" from Creed was answered in the negative (of course I only got to this idde through Parfumo). Then it became "Allure Homme Sport", which I already knew from earlier on.
With the newly purchased bottle in my girlfriend's handbag, we are then in a noble perfumery a few steps further to sniff "Aventus" sample. Well, that's where it happened. This fragrance was so new and engaging to me that I hesitated to buy a 50 ml bottle for more than three times the amount I have spent on fragrances so far. Also my girlfriend was and is very turned on by the smell at me. Since I wasn't a fragrance freak at that time and was a bit shocked about the price I called, I brought the 100 ml AHS back to the chain, which took it back without any problems. The seller obviously understood that the AHS can't keep up with this.
In retrospect, this day has become the beginning of my passion for fragrances.
Now that I know so many others, Aventus remains unchallenged in his position. I don't mean to say that it's number 1 and nothing else could keep up, but this fruity freshness, paired with smoky, in my nose very masculine attributes, still stands for itself.
My girlfriend likes it, but I also get compliments from other noses.
I am not yet experienced enough to be able to name the components individually in the process (apart from the pineapple and the bergamot in the top note) and have meanwhile also learned that this can form a picture of a fragrance in the imagination, but that the perceived fragrance is then usually perceived quite differently. As a lover of fresh scents, Aventus can be described as fruity fresh in the top note and fruity spicy smoky in the course. Actually, I just don't have the words for this great perfume.
I think it is suitable for all occasions, unless you want to draw attention to yourself with a Mega-Sillage.
Aventus (with me) can't afford that and also the shelf life should be greater for my taste. It lasts about 6-8 hours with me, but in the end it can only be seen directly on the skin.
It could be that due to the hefty price and the many cheaper alternatives (quite different scents mind you) it remains with this one purchase for me. Maybe in the long run the new Explorer of Montblanc will convince me (which, at least in my batch, is quite close), although I doubt it. Maybe I will never be able to do without this fragrance in my little collection. It will come to light

Here the spirits divide - in an extreme way
Hello Parfumos,
this is my first comment and I will not (for the time being) explain how I got here,
what this forum means to me and what experiences I have had with fragrances so far.
So why the first comment ? here?
First because this substance apparently polarizes like no other and secondly
because my personal impression here is very easy to put into words. In contrast to other fragrances, where I admire the creativity, expertise and eloquence of many writers in the existing commentaries, which at the same time intimidates me a little.
After reading the comments available here, my curiosity was aroused and I wanted to know
what Molecule 01 is all about.
On my skin, it's a tiny bit like that. Immediately after spraying I smell almost pure alcohol and not much more. After a few minutes a smell develops on my skin, which I do not find particularly unpleasant, but which must also not be described as a scent, but as a smell. I knew I knew this smell, I pondered something, and then it occurred to me. Since my childhood I have not noticed this smell, for me it is 100% the smell of leucoplast. A medical tape that many of you must know. That's it, then. Nothing changes anymore and the smell, which is weak from the beginning, disappears relatively quickly. Fortunately, there are countless alternatives.
Finally, I would like to say that I find it very fascinating how differently fragrances are perceived and how subjective all this is here. I can't imagine a more blatant example of this, nor can I imagine any other fragrance failing more grandiosely for me.
