Does Wealth Make You Happy?
Originally, I wanted to tackle Henry James' book for this comment. In the end, a brief summary had to suffice...

A young English lady (Isabel Archer) gets everything one could wish for: a generous inheritance and the freedom to take her life into her own hands. That this freedom also means bearing the responsibility for her unfortunate decisions will be a painful lesson for her.

Since I haven't read the book, I will try to approach the portrait of this lady through the scent.

The sparkling fruity, almost piercing opening conveys the image of a somewhat stern lady bursting with energy and self-confidence. She is very beautiful, but no longer a young girl. For especially the ever-present rose, which continues throughout, provides an almost intrusive level of elegance. This does not refer to the cool elegance of a business suit, but rather to the somewhat outdated appearance of a lady in a fur stole and evening gloves. With this combination of energy and effortless elegance, she can be sure of the attention of her surroundings. And she knows this very well, because as mentioned below, both the sillage and longevity of this perfume are quite impressive!

As the scent develops, the exuberant opening calms down a bit, and cinnamon along with a subtly present incense adds more depth and maturity. The young lady of yore has transformed into a somewhat calmer, more mature, yet still impeccably coiffed and perfectly made-up lady.

This fragrance is often recommended to us gentlemen as well. Personally, I find it - although many men's fragrances in today's scent landscape tend to be significantly sweeter and softer - ultimately too feminine for my taste. But for those who at least want to surround themselves with this fascinating and enchanting lady as a fragrant cloud, I strongly recommend giving it a try!

Portrait of a Lady thus belongs to the type of fragrances that I would never buy for myself, but will always remember as an olfactory experience. For this, I would like to sincerely thank the generous donor!
