I’ve always been a hobbyist, a collector. In the past it was plastic models, books, magazines, diecast models, and most recently men’s fragrances.
I was only ever a casual user of cologne in years gone by, and I had actually stopped wearing them a few years ago and was using mainly body sprays. But today, not a day goes by without wearing something.
When my mum passed away in May of 2022, I changed. It was a wake up call for me. I improved myself dramatically. Lost a lot of weight—and kept it off. And I got back in to fragrances and smelling good again.
This soon became an addiction as I sought advice and info on the latest trends via YouTube, etc. I dived back into the fragrance world at full speed. No longer just a casual wearer, but becoming a full time collector. Just over 3 years now.
Decades ago it was things like Calvin Klein Ck One, Ck Eternity, Aramis Tuscany, Insense Ultramarine by Givenchy, Nautica Voyage, Lomani pour Homme, and yes, Joop! Homme, that I wore mostly.

Today, I’m diving deeper into the niche world. The bulk of my collection at the moment is designer, with a handful of clones.
It’s a slow burn journey with niche though as they are on average considerably more expensive as full bottles. But, thankfully, there are usually ample samples and decants that can be found so one can try a multitude of new scents without demolishing the bank account.
And so appreciation of the finer fragrances grows as does my personal inventory.
