Lemon Festival on the Azure Coast
It is warm here on the Côte d'Azur, but not too hot yet. A pleasant warmth that can still be enjoyed without melting away in the blazing sun.
A café perched on a cliff - a mild breeze brushes against my face as I sit on the terrace, enjoying a cool lemonade at the white table. The terrace is bordered by beautiful bright pink peonies, providing the perfect contrast to the white garden furniture. I gaze out at the azure sea, with the scent of peonies in my nose and a light citrus fragrance lingering in the air. The annual Lemon Festival is taking place in Menton, and many people are celebrating joyfully. This scent combination makes me dream. THIS is what vacation smells like, deep relaxation, tranquility, serenity, pure joy of life.
This has been captured 1:1 in Lancôme's "Ô d'Azur".
The fragrance is a tribute to wonderful vacations by the Mediterranean, conveying this mood like no other. For me, it is vacation in a bottle.
Ô d'Azur is not a typical lemon summer scent - it is not as biting as many citrus waters, yet just as invigorating. It starts off gently with a lemony-floral note, exuding extreme elegance, making it not only a great everyday scent but also suitable for going out. One always feels fresh and clean, and it lasts and lasts and lasts (up to 12 hours for me).
It is rounded off in the base by a soft and pleasant musk, accompanied by a pleasantly light woody spice.

Truly a must-have and for me my summer scent of 2016.

... you beauty!
I had to wait a long time for you, today, yes today you were finally brought to me.
Your appearance is enchanting and matches your inner values perfectly.
From the very first spray, you seduce me - the iris and jasmine are almost worshipfully desirable - with such a wonderfully soft, floral - creamy - slightly powdery veil of scent that constantly finds its way from my wrist to my nose.
Iris and jasmine immediately stand out, carried by a pleasant freshness, which probably comes from the bergamot.
After a while, this freshness fades and gives way to a gentle woody base. You accompany me hour after hour. I can apply you during the last hour at work (your "daily all-rounder" facet), so that in the evening you then exude your wonderfully sweet woody depth, and I can comfortably linger with you in a classy cocktail bar for a nightcap with my better half (who, by the way, is also enchanted by you just like I am) (your "noble evening fragrance" facet).
You are it - my new love, chosen to be a centerpiece in my collection and allowed to stay... as long as you wish...

The Golden Wedding
I find this variant of J'Adore to be the most beautiful, elegant, and noble of all.

I used the original J'Adore as my signature scent for a long time years ago; it was "my" fragrance.
Unfortunately, over the years and due to the many new discoveries I was able to make thanks to Parfumo, it fell into oblivion, and I only just got to test the Voile variant at KaDeWe.

J'Adore Voile de Parfum begins with the floral-fresh melody known from the original, but this changes for me after just a few seconds and becomes pleasantly warm.
After a few more moments, one of the most beautiful iris variations I have ever smelled unfolds - wonderfully powdery, gentle, delicate, slightly floral, silky. It is precisely this note that makes Voile de Parfum the elegant companion that it is!
The rose, only very subtly present for me, is a white, clean one, not an intrusive "rose bomb" that has spoiled several fragrances for me. This composition is rounded off with a light and also clean musk, very close to the skin.
Like most Diors, this one also stands out for its enormous longevity. On the skin, despite multiple washings at the wrist, it is still faintly perceptible after over 24 hours. On my jacket, it lasted almost a week.
The sillage, however, is a bit more reserved. As mentioned above, Voile de Parfum is more of a close companion, but you occasionally catch a whiff of this beautifully elegant scent veil in your nose.

As Charlize Theron once said ;) "Life isn’t black and white - it’s gold." And with Voile de Parfum, it is the most golden and elegant of all J'Adores ever.

Lemon Green Spring Freshness
I have to admit... I approached the test with mixed feelings - on one hand, I'm not really a big Jil Sander fan, but on the other hand, I really liked "Everose"...
So I once again strolled into the freshly renovated perfumery I trust to work through my "must-test" list.
There it was - lemon green, a great, simply designed bottle (like "Eve" and "Everose"), beautifully highlighted with spotlighting. The nice (and really competent) saleswoman sprayed a "shot" on my wrist and off we go!

"Evergreen" starts off on me slightly citrusy - fresh - green, just as its color suggests. It immediately reminds me of sun-drenched spring days with a bright blue sky and lemon sorbet in hand ;)
Nothing peppery comes through for me. After a while, the scent doesn't change much - but it becomes slightly powdery - a clean powder, not baby powder-like. After about an hour, a subtle sweetness joins in, very lightly vanilla, carried by a beautiful sandalwood note.
Fortunately, I don't notice any lily of the valley - as I unfortunately can't tolerate it, and that would guarantee a headache! But as it is, it was allowed to settle in with me :)
No trace of patchouli either, instead, a nice, clean, slightly woody-creamy powdery note remains.

Sillage is rather flat, the scent is quite skinny on me, longevity is about 5 hours - average and sufficient for a spring messenger.

With this fragrance, Madame Sander delivers a pleasing, not overly surprising, very everyday and mass-appealing "spring buddy" that is definitely worth testing.

Cuddly Associations
"First Love" creates a feeling of security for me, surrounding you with a warm and delicate veil that casually wafts into your nose.
I associate "First Love" with the beautiful moments with my little 1-year-old daughter when we cuddle on the sofa in the afternoons, babbling, and she gives me a big smooch with her sweet little face.
From the very beginning, I perceive such a lovely and unobtrusive powdery scent, probably the amber-vanilla combo in the base. This is framed by a floral bouquet of orchids and a subtle ylang-ylang. I can't consciously sniff out any mandarin.
"First Love" features, as mentioned above, a very delicate sillage, and the longevity on my skin is about 6 hours - not the world, but enough for daydreams of my little sunshine when she is not with me :)

Perfect for a cozy sofa evening!
