Why your first impressions are often wrong...
I am a big fan of John Varvatos' work, and Artisan Pure is a major reason for that.

At the first approach Artisan Pure actually doesn't smell very good to me - it opens with unbalanced and much too strong notes of marjoram and iris root. Fortunately the roughness disappears quickly and Artisan Pure reveals its aromas of citrus fruits, thyme and ginger. After just a few minutes, the fragrance opens completely and becomes a perfect powdery summer scent!

After the short opening phase and during most of the drying phase, one is able to smell strong chords of lemon, thyme and tangerine with a hint of musk. Unlike similar summery scents, Artisan Pure is quite complex.

And although Artisan Pure was launched as a men's fragrance, I can well imagine that it can also be worn as a feminine fragrance - the powdery dry period allows the fragrance to remain present even in hot, humid weather, while the thyme and citrus notes give it new life.

Sillage: Here Artisan Pure shines - you can immediately perceive a hint of lemon without being overwhelmed. After a moment, the lingering ginger and musk lend this non-intrusive EdT a more subdued but pleasant presence.

Shelf life: I was really surprised how long Artisan Pure lasted on my skin - I could still feel it 6+ hours later!

Versatility: Given the presence of musk and ambergris underground, I can see how the citrus and aroma chords work from the beginning of spring to the end of autumn.

Originality: I have found few summer perfumes as complex as Artisan Pure. Especially in an EdT - it works, lasts and leaves a great impression!

A buon intenditore poche parole bastano.
I love him.

Juicy, bubbly citrus fruit, almost mimosa-like. I don't think that citrus scents can get any better. Orange blossom and jasmine add some floral sweetness, while mint, tarragon, basil, coriander, sage and black pepper add just enough aromatic notes to support the citrus notes and make the fragrance more interesting than traditional fresh scents.

With this fragrance, I'm certainly thinking of the Amalfi Coast: blue waters, winding roads, steep cliffs, cities carved into the slopes of the hills. When the citrus fruits fade, flowers come through and remind me of Fleur de Portofino.

Highly recommended for people who want a citrus scent that is safe but subtly different.

"Is it the fog?"
Douglas fir, pine resin, hemlock, vanilla leaf, strawberry, jungle, mountain fog - in the beginning.

First: "I have no idea what that smells like - is that the fog? Like a sweet mist." Later, realistic boiled strawberries, syrupy fruits.

The wife comes in and says, "Oh, too flowery!" I explain to her that there aren't even flowers in it, but there they are. Dry-down is mossy/woody, maybe a little pine-like.

I thought that was really nice, but I will wait a while before I try again.

Exclusively for winter nights
Black Orchid is simply powerful, like a witch's love potion. We are talking here
by the witches of Eastwick-level. Even Jeremy wouldn't use more than 2 sprays (or would he?)

It's thick, lush and Gothic. It's the kind of perfume the bosses of Dark Souls wear when they go to an awards ceremony. It automatically gives you an HP boost.

At the beginning of LOTR, when Sauron is about to fight the Last Alliance of Men, he probably wore this perfume.

Michael Jackson, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Andre 3000, Dennis Rodman and Meta World Peace can rock the EdP version anywhere and anytime with consummate ease (the first two may not be anymore). Summer and winter. It doesn't matter.

Mortals will have to use this potent concoction with caution. For winter nights only.

Compressed Air Woosh Fragrance
Lime blossom, laurel and ivy leaves, vetiver, oak moss, fresh tennis balls, clay court - cucumber! Not listed, but I definitely register something as cucumber, and I like it.

Melon, lemon, green, (less mowed lawn than lying in a field in summer, smells of various grasses and dry soil) - not my usual favourite, as I usually prefer spicy, woody scents. But this is so nice and bright.

I'm not sure about the tennis balls, but I'm getting some kind of.... compressed air woosh smell? Perfect for a hot day.
