Truly as described

This is one of few fragrances from Imaginary Authors that truly matches every note listed. It comes in with strong forest notes and then dries down to an accord that somehow does evoke both sweet strawberries and fog. It is artificial smelling from end to end. It's not a cleaning solvent sort of forest smell, thank goodness, but it's far removed from real trees. The artificial quality makes it feel very girlish to me, I think because it reminds me of plastic toys, but this is definitely wearable as a gender neutral scent. I wear this fairly regularly, paired with plaids and flannels and my strawberry earrings, but I like it best layered with either a stronger, tangier woody scent or a sweeter, softer floral to give it more umph in one direction or the other.

Fruity walk through the woods!

Imagine this.. It's early autumn and you and your loved one just woke up in a wooden cabin deep in the woods and decided to go on a hike through the old pine forrest after short rain. You guys already have your favorite route where you can pick and eat wild strawberries along the way and feel the fresh breeze of Douglas fir tree on your sunkissed face. After awhile you're back in your cozy cabin, relaxed, optimistic and full of energy, planing together some new ventures while eating those few leftovers of freshly picked wild strawberries!
Because this scent smells THAT GOOD!

I am really digging this musky, fruity pine combo with a bit of smoke in it!

Strawberries and pine, nothing special

Basically, as others have said, Cape Heartache is a simple fragrance of strawberries and pine. I think it might have been nicer with a little nutmeg, or something, added, to give it more of a base. But as it is, I must admit there’s nothing really bad about it, but it’s not anything special, either. Ironically, there’s nothing “heartache” about it because it seems like a happy scent to me. But I still feel like I’m wearing a paper pine tree air freshener (with strawberries), but, so far, no complaints from anybody around me. Cape Heartache leans more towards feminine than masculine.

Balsamic, juicy,strawberry delight!

Sweet juicy strawberry entwined with the balasam of fir and pine meet hemlock and vanilla but not sickly so. Cedar creeps in giving it a woody base. It's very moreish, sweet but not toothachingly so. Dont overspray, longevity is excellent and silage is decent too.

Strawberry jam in the forest.

The opening smells just like what I expected: Sweet, thick strawberries with some coniferous greenery in the background. But on my skin, the forest overtakes the berry and the scent turns very woody after a short while. I don't only smell the green needle scent of pine and fir, but also a creamy, but bitter and almost leathery woodsy note that reminds me of guaiac the most.
There is still a bit of strawberry sweetness, but not enough to make it balanced for my taste. So, I like this for what it is, I think it works, but it's a weaker like for me personally. I could imagine that I would really enjoy it layered with a simple berry scent though.

Compared to most other perfumes that combine berries with coniferous notes, the strawberry makes Cape Heartache stand out, as they often use sour, juicy fruits like blackberries or currants. This strawberry is smoother and jammier. If you prefer that and also don't mind strong woods, this might be just right for you.
