Floris labelled this scent as citrus woody. Well, pretty much, but it is perhaps more than that. Fougere, touch of green, woody scent is more certain.
The fragrance journal, 1962, Floris tries to reimagine a classic, which probably quite a work cut out to do in this perfumery business, given that people nowadays prefer more sweet, mass appealing, unisex fragrance than others.
1962, from the opening, bursts with zesty green mandarin, citrusy, herbal and medicinal. Clove plays its part, giving a musty 'old' vibe to the scent. The woody cedar and mossy moss quickly join the party, providing an earthy like smell, as if a small plant being plucked out from soil, where you could smell the fresh dampness of the soil from its roots. Heck, is that Bracken Man? Similar, but no. For me at least, this is lighter and fresher.
Cypress soon steals the show, together with lily of the valley and jasmine, they create an uplifting vibe. Spearmint and musk lend their hands to provide a fresh, minty, a bit smokey and more fuller cypress through out the wearing. At this part, everything is fresh, green and well, to put it together; "cypress-y".
The drydown is smooth, crisp and creamy. Amber really adds depth and a bit sweetness (this is not a sweet scent, though) to the scent during the drydown.
