Top Tier ATH
Maverick is one of my favorite ATH fragrances (others include Onyx extreme, Legend, Haze). Maverick is mass appealing in the best way as it has a fruity aspect that brings brightness and sweetness to the rich woody base. Yes, this is mass appealing but it also appeals to the niche crowd with I identify with. While I enjoy challenging scents that really force you to reckon with their notes and composition I also enjoy wearing pleasant but unique fragrances which allow less experienced noses to enjoy the beauty of perfumery. As much as I want to wear my Bortnikoff and Areej le Dore fragrances I also want to wear something that just makes me smile a simple smile without being provoked into deep contemplation.

Maverick's fruity and woody aspects balance one another beautifully. I love plum in perfumery and it works so well in Maverick as the sweetness is balanced by the tartness of the apple and its depth is balanced by the brightness of the citric top notes. (The green apple is unique to the 2024 formulation) It is not too sweet for me. The musk is clean and adds a velvety aspect to the experience and gets better over time. The patchouli in here is of the chocolatey phenotype but I hesitate to say there is a full-on chocolate note, it simply hints at a chocolate accord when combined with tonka and vanilla. Whats the nutmeg doing? It's the thread that binds everything. It both makes everything more distinct and vibrant but also helps build olfactory harmony.

Really nice projection and longevity. I will get another bottle and this will be my easy to reach fragrance when I can't be bothered to think deeply about what I will wear. It can be dressed up (to a degree; I wouldn't personally wear this to a formal event or to a business meeting) but can also be dressed down for a day of leisure and relaxation.

This is the vetiver that you've always wanted
On a hillside verdant vetiver shoots its roots into the soil and grounds the earth as the wind from a cedar grove wafts upward and the shoots dance with complete abandon.

I have always enjoyed vetiver fragrances but none have captivated me like Vetiverissimo. Bruno's artistry comes forward here to reveal an ability to focus on only the essentials. In his other fragrances he demonstrates an ability to incorporate unique ingredients in complex and dynamic compositions while Vetiverissimo is much more linear and focused. I mean linear in a laudatory sense because it is expertly done. Often vetiver is hidden supporting role but here it is the lead actor. The specific vetiver used in this is La Reunion bourbon vetiver which is some of the best vetiver in the world.

Vetiverissimo is surprisingly fresh and extremely versatile. The cedar used in this is dry and light and beautifully supports the vetiver. This leads to fresh, vibrant fragrance with an earthy spice and woody dry-down.

Subtle freshness
This is a super pleasing and refined neroli fragrance that makes me smile. On a warm day this is exactly what you want to smell like. Not cloying or oppressive in any way. Worthy of an embrace. My favorite aspect here is the green note--its just lovely and balances the florals. The resinous dry down is magical but I wish that it lasted longer. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a green floral freshie for their linen-draped summer excursions.

Clean and masterfully crafted
The first image that this conjured is a clean beaver smoking fresh vanilla pipe tobacco from an oud pipe while surrounded by flowers in a breeze. The first wave gives me the most beautiful vanilla tobacco ever. The vanilla is photorealistic and reminds me of the texture of when you split a vanilla pod to scrape the beans. I was very surprised at how clean this fragrance is even with the oud. The oud adds depth and robustness without being dirty or animalic. The florals play a supporting role and likely help with the cleanliness and lift.
I wish this was still available. Looks like I will need to use my 10 ml sparingly even though I want to wear this all winter. It is my favorite sweet tobacco while Royal Tobacco is my favorite spicy tobacco.

Dark and dynamic
The dynamic tension and interplay between the bright grapefruit and deep dark ink accord. Behind this is a tango of dry woods and benzoin accented with bright spicy pepper. It’s clean, crisp, and bold.

A dynamic post-modern world needs a dynamic fragrance capable of elevating one’s presence in board rooms, study halls, art lofts, and industrial techno bunkers. Lampblack is for a dynamic person navigating the complexities of capitalist realism with panache and resolve. Lampblack is for the intrigued and the intriguing.
