The real deal
I will start this review with a quick summary of my own fragrance journey: For starters I’ll get this clear I’m not a will never be a fragrance expert as much as I am a fragrance lover.

Tobacco is my favorite note, even when I was a little child and did not know anything about fragrance, entering a tobacco store here in Mexico City, smelling that woody, rich tobacco smell, that dryness and smokiness, then, when traveling to the eastern coast of mexico where high quality tobacco and cigars are produced, gave me the greener and much more humid tobacco smell, the fresh tobacco plant smell. This is a note that’s tied to my childhood and great experiences with my father and will always be my favorite. A real gentleman’s note.

Well then, I started my fragrance journey a little more than a year ago and it became a real sick addiction to smell, to experimentation, spending much more time smelling fragrance and trying new and classic scents of all kinds, training my nose.

I have been reading both fragrantica and Parfumo since then, created accounts and read, read, and read… but this, this fragrance is one that deserves not only my attention, but my time to be recognized and praised. This is the real deal. A fragrance above all other fragrances.

The real tobacco, not Spicebomb Extreme, not Tobbaco Vanille, not Royal Tobacco, not Boundless, no Naxos, no Blue Vanille, no, no, no. TABAC (Tobacco Oud and Vanille), is the very best tobacco fragrance I’ve ever experienced. The tobacco here is the star. A real cigar box, this smells Tobacco, Oud (as dry wood, smoke, leathery), and Vanille to round everything up. Then the Turkish rose, jammy, serves as a great Oud-Rose base to keep up with the amazingly real tobacco scent that comes across all the time from the opening to the very last bit of smell. It gets a little sweeter and warmer (from the ethical ambergris I suppose) as it dries down but never letting the cigar box/store smell. This is a very playful bad boy fragrance that will make any man stand on top of any other fragrance user in any room or situation, it is powerful, eternal on clothes and very long lasting on my skin.

This is a masterpiece scent, no other way around it, I can only praise Aaron Terence Hughes for this amazing work, I will be buying more and more Aaron Fragrances to appreciate the real artistic work and soul he poured in this fragrances.

Clean and masterfully crafted
The first image that this conjured is a clean beaver smoking fresh vanilla pipe tobacco from an oud pipe while surrounded by flowers in a breeze. The first wave gives me the most beautiful vanilla tobacco ever. The vanilla is photorealistic and reminds me of the texture of when you split a vanilla pod to scrape the beans. I was very surprised at how clean this fragrance is even with the oud. The oud adds depth and robustness without being dirty or animalic. The florals play a supporting role and likely help with the cleanliness and lift.
I wish this was still available. Looks like I will need to use my 10 ml sparingly even though I want to wear this all winter. It is my favorite sweet tobacco while Royal Tobacco is my favorite spicy tobacco.

Real man tobacco
I first sampled, during the pre Brexit era, the 2019/early 2020 versions and then ordered a 2020 bottle from ATH as I was impressed on the real and generous use of tobacco, presented clearly and unapologetically not like in Pure Havane where its drowned in sweetness. The full bottle had a different type of vanilla, vanilla absolute I mean, and it showed, it was sharper than the 10ml bottle(the sample) and less smooth along the way. Otherwise, a huge, huge performer, a mix of tobacco, woodsy oud, vanilla while the rose was just there to support things and round them. I got rid of the full bottle and kept the 10ml sample, it's a gem :D.

The Oud Is The Star Of The Show
Right out of the gate when you spray this upon your skin you will perceive a really good Oud accord. It smells like rich spicy resinous woods and it sits on a lovely bed of vanilla with hints of rose coming through now and again.

This Oud dominates for a few hours until the tobacco comes through. It smells very nice and rich and the quality is exceptional. That Oud is the star of the show because it is real and gives the scent depth.

Now it's not going to be to everyone's taste but it is worthy of at least sampling.

A cigarette factory tour.
I once had the chance to work in a cigarette factory.
The smell of tobacco there was omnipresent: herbal, woody, unmistakable.

That same impression greets you in this fragrance: dry, refined, realistic tobacco.

Then rose and vanilla appear, giving the heart a strong presence without ever overshadowing the tobacco at its core. There’s a liquorous, delicate, almost intoxicating touch. A cigar moistened with whisky, never lit. Patience. Some things must be left to rest — and above all, to be desired.

Finally, oud and ambergris bring depth and animality, a masculinity for those who know how to wait.

The whole composition is powerful, ambitious, and unmistakably Aaron Terence Hughes.

Dusty and dry up top, true tobacco leaf. Dries down wonderfully to its Oud base, and stays forever. A great scent for tobacco lovers.

Clean tobacco softened by rose backed by vanilla and oud. Made me appreciate oud. Long lasting, excellent for cold weather. Peak ATH

Dry tobacco and clean oud in this, I get no vanilla or sweetness. Unfortunately not for me but this is high quality.

Honey, honey, honey with a hint of vanilla. Sweet, almost sticky, with a lasting fragrance that lasts for days. Very opulent.

A very rounded, dry, rich pipe tobacco. Flavored with vanilla. Just the right dose of it and not as sweet as Tom Ford.

Spraying and sniffing:
Tobacco, intense - refined with vanilla.
Oud - too much.
I don't smell wood.
Too much, too strong.
Headache.

What I can definitely say is: It's an ATH. The DNA is unmistakable and it's starting to bore me. As always, ATH carries too much ...

Tobacco in the top & base, no disappointment.
Later, oud & ambered sweetness.
That's 10 hours of pure enjoyment.
I greet the end of the workday.
