In Seoul it rains a lot
I have never really understood the praise behind bergamot, just as I cannot now understand the criticism behind Citron 28. For me Citron 28 is the better bergamot 22.

With the first spray, the citrus note is immediately noticeable. One might think that it is more of a bergamot note, but this then quickly reveals itself as a strong lemon note.

Afterwards, however, this already moves into the background and makes room for a noble jasmine note. At this point, cedar and musk are visible, if only very fine. While somewhere in between a hardly noticeable pungency, but also a slight sweetness romps through the ginger note.

This structure will then remain for the next few hours, while lemon and jasmine slowly weaken and the cedar wood becomes more visible. From time to time it has a slightly soapy character. In my case, the scent remains perceptible for about seven hours, then really only a skin scent until it dissolves completely on the skin. Over these seven hours the scent actually projects very decently, considering how fine and sensitive this composition actually is.

Because in rooms it comes off very well and it really fits very well to Seoul. I had noticed that some people complained that the Citron 28 with the lemon does not do justice to the rain in Seoul and the character of the city. But I think it does.

Life in a city of a million people like Seoul can be very hard. In the morning on the train, at noon at work, and in the evening in a café, or at home. Outside it's gray, either cloudy or rainy. The smog over the city and the air pollution don't make it very attractive to do something outside and green spaces are rare. Dressed very filigree, but simple and almost conform to attract attention, but not to step out of line, because status is in South Korea the A and O.

And this is where Citron 28 hits the bull's eye. On the train it is clearly visible, it turns heads, but does not bother the other passengers. At work he radiates status without being too authoritarian towards his colleagues. In a café it looks elegant, but does not drown out the conversation. On rainy days, it is perfect for making yourself at home. In a grey environment Citron 28 refreshes with its aura. And if it should be a nice cloudless sunny day in the park, it also fits into this scenario. As a small homage to the previous comment "Green Yellow..." applies to the fragrance very precisely.

But what I have to criticize a little is that Citron 28 is very sensitive concerning temperatures. Both the day temperature and the own body temperature can strongly influence the endurance and the course of the scent. What actually would not be a problem, but in my case it happened that the scent sometimes turns into a very bitter/acidic one. Some reported a rotting smell. Whoever once had a floral scent, which unfortunately has been tilted, can imagine this similarly.

Furthermore, I find that the perfume fits much more to the Asian aesthetics than to our Western world. A petite South Korean woman or a young South Korean would like Citron 28 from the character better than Caucasians.

Nevertheless a very nice scent.

P.S. The prices of City Exclusives of 10€ for 1,2ml, 112€ for 15ml, 277€ for 50ml, 415€ for 100ml and 1480€ for 500ml are in my opinion absolutely unrealistic. Even those who order for several thousand euros online at Le Labo must pay the 15€ shipping and may not expect free samples. Also the exchange is strictly rejected by Le Labo. Who loves a City Exclusive and knows what he gets involved, however, with it becomes definitely happy!

Layton vs. Layton Exclusif
Oh well what shall I say, most people know the Layton Exclusif, they will know Layton and I think most people will say that Exclusif is the better and fuller non-scent. But side by side compared, I think, this is not so easy to say anymore.

Where Layton seems to me more like the young man who is available for everything, the man who goes to parties, weddings, dates or movies with friends, the type of man you see at every event in town, the man you always see with a pretty woman around you, Layton Exclusif seems more like the "lonely wolf" type of man. A man who does his thing comes what may and has his life completely under control, a man who polarizes and whom you would like to see at your parties and events, but only rarely. A man who would hardly have to lift a finger to seduce a woman, either it comes to him or not.

Now both fragrances have their advantages and disadvantages. Layton can always be worn. People like him, a lot, because he's a people pleaser. Exclusif goes more to special occasions and his presence receives mixed reactions, some like him, others don't like him so much. But he is the more pronounced personality, he seems more mature and above all more masculine than Layton. But Layton has more energy and is more positive, he is usually longer on his feet, even if Exclusif is not inferior to him in that much.
Both are extroverts, but Layton has the warmer aura of both, he attracts the women, but it is more interesting to deal with Exclusif ...

The whole thing could go on forever... and I don't know which fragrance should be better, both are very similar and yet they have completely different personalities from scratch.

I can't decide who I'd rather be with, I like both of them very much. Exclusif is simply Exclusif and you don't always find a given occasion for such, but there is still Layton. You should make friends with both of them!

Which one of them is your favorite? :)

Popcorn
Oh, what did I underestimate Layton for? Around the end of 2016 I ordered some samples on the website of Parfums de Marly. Including Herod, Pegasus and Layton to determine which might become a potential Marly in my collection. In the end I thought Layton was the best, but somehow it didn't come to the purchase after all.

Then a long time ago I found a bargain here and could shoot Layton, still in its original packaging, for 130€. Unpacked and sprayed, I had the feeling that the sample smelled different or better (In the meantime, I have learned that perfume houses, cheekily, like to concentrate the samples higher than their actual perfumes) and somehow this made me unhappy. Since I was doing a dual study at the time and was also working in a cinema directly opposite my apartment, it naturally happened that I took a quick shower before work and sprayed Layton on myself several times, although I didn't really like it that much anymore.

Who knows it? You come to the cinema in full anticipation of the film you've been waiting for since the trailer and the first thing you notice is the pleasant sweet smell of fresh popcorn. Simply a wonderful smell that triggers positive feelings. Unless you work there and have a sweet perfume like Layton on it, which made me smell after work, as if I had been caned with Layton and popcorn. Also from the cinema colleagues there were rather "negative" compliments à la "Here it smells like in the perfumery...", which in the end was another reason why I sold my copy.

A little later Layton Exclusif came onto the market, of which I ordered a sample here, because I was hoping for more and then... it was a beast.

But back to Layton, a few days ago I got a Descant each from Layton and Layton Exclusif to weigh, which is better in the end, because I wanted to get Exclusif. However, it feels impossible to make this decision, but one thing is certain. How could I be such an idiot and sell Layton.

In the last few days, when I sprayed it on myself and was on my way, I became aware of what a beast Layton actually is. Once applied on the skin (two sprayers), it is still well and clearly noticeable up to 4 hours later in the room.

I have without problems 12 hours durability and in the clothes it is felt, until the next wash, not to get out any more. A decreasingly good Sillage one can expect (in my case at least) approx. up to 5 hours, in warmer rooms, also more. The Drydown is really heavenly and now we come to the actual supreme discipline that distinguishes Layton: The compliments.

No kidding, this perfume is an absolute machine, an absolute compliment getter! People love that scent. And women are totally freaking out, he's sweet, fresh and extremely seductive and it's going to be hard to find someone who won't like this DNA or find it too unpleasant. To hear "I would love to fuck you best" from a woman or to get free drinks at a concert because you smell so good sounds like a fairy tale, but it is not and I could hardly believe it myself. In retrospect, I thought I was dreaming.

(Here's a short claim to those who want to comment on the fact that they never get compliments or that these panty dropper stories are bullshit: People, the whole package has to be right! If you're attractive, your smile, figure, hairstyle and vibe will fit, then a good perfume can become a wonder weapon. Provided one goes to situations in which people are more social than usual.)

Finally, Layton is a super beautiful perfume and an all seasons / all occasions all-rounder for all ages. Personally, I think, however, that in autumn he comes to the fore and performs best :) I shouldn't have sold it back then, because since then every visit to the cinema and the smell of popcorn has reminded me of this perfume and I really missed it every time. By the way, Layton is also a perfect perfume for a movie date ;)

I'd like to know what your top compliment was that you got for Layton!!!! :)

Creed x Street Couture
I have to say, I found the marketing of Creed extremely exciting as far as Aventus Cologne was concerned. First the meeting in Berlin, with very well established influencers like Alex Costa, Jeremy Fragrance and Ari Petrou, known as UK,s biggest Hypebeast and many more.

For those who can't do much with the term hypebeast, by definition a hypebeast is someone who collects extremely expensive and up-to-date (designer) garments, shoes and accessories with the purpose of impressing others. If you like, the Itboys and Itgirls of the digital age, who are very interested in brand clothing and its prestige. But meanwhile it is not possible to generalize this because of all the subcultures, well.

Then there was the launch event about the cooperation with Highsnobiety, the largest breatwear blog founded in Berlin, which has grown into the GQ of cosmopolitans and alternative scenes, and an event in New York, where the remaining fragrance youtubers were grazed. And a few days later Aventus Cologne was already pre-ordered.

It is easy to see through that Creed is trying to establish itself more and more in the Mainteam market with Aventus Cologne and the upcoming creations. And the tactics, not stupid, no, even brilliant. Create a perfume that is mainstream, but not too mainstream. And then this niche? After all, if one lights up, it's a scene that's willing to spend 3000€ or more on shoes just to "flex", which means "let your muscles play" Then why not do all this to smell good? Of course, thanks to Jeremy Fragrance, most of these people are no longer completely unfamiliar with the Creed brand, although most of them still tend towards the Tom Ford fragrances or Bois Dárgent from Christian Dior.

What surprises me is that the Creed risks the leap from classic, traditional to new, young, untouched, modern, urban. But this is where they've secured themselves! What, are you wondering? By calling it Aventus and making it a unisex perfume. For him. For her. For all. In other words, the CK One for the upper class of buyers.

In any case, I am curious to see how the Creed brand will perform in the coming years. After all, I actually hear the main students in the back of the bus talking about how horny Creed is. And not a day goes by without a comment on Parfumo about Aventus a lá "...like my predecessors, I won't go into the description of the fragrance in more detail now..." and "...I can't say anything more about the batches now..." (of course, because you've only known about the perfume since the last Jeremy Fragrance Top10 video you saw a few weeks ago).

Well, how is Aventus Cologne? I have to say... it's even better than I expected. The first thing you smell is an extremely nice fruity top note, which fades away after about 20 seconds and then reminds you of Aventus, but only in very clean. I think Clean's very good at it. Where Aventus was very striking, Aventus Cologne comes along extremely smoothly with the typical citric signature of Creed. But the whole thing changes after about an hour. There it works and/or reminds extremely of Allure Homme sport. Really, you think you've got allure homme sports on it, but bullshit, I compared the complete allure homme series side by side with Aventus Cologne. They don't even smell nearly similar when you compare them, but you just get 1 to 1 of the same vibe. Once you have this picture in your head, you can no longer enjoy Aventus Cologne so easily. In my opinion Aventus Cologne smells a lot better and has a more beautiful fragrance, but it simply performs a lot weaker.

I had the fun to ask all the ladies about my new achievement on a very hot nine hour working day in the gym and actually the 8 on a scale from 1 to 10 was mentioned most often. Nice feedback, and, as mentioned above, a very nice fragrance that drifts into the woody at the end, but is also only well perceptible for about 6 hours. On a cool day, it feels like one or two hours more to get out. Nevertheless the durability and the silage do not make me really satisfied.

I'll put it this way, it's the typical Iphone / Samsung story. Who wants more prestige goes here with Creed, who wants more performance goes with Chanel, in my opinion both are excellent scents.

Without going into Creed's pricing policy here now: Afterwards I would not exceed a budget of 190€ for Aventus Cologne. Who has the patience, I think will find him for this price next year at the same time in some Douglas Fialen.

Under the starry sky
For a long time I thought about what I should write about Aventus and I still don't quite know. My feelings are hard to put into words, because there is almost nothing that I hate so much and love so much as Aventus, that's why I just give it a try...

Some years ago the hype around Aventus began and despite many reviews and description of the used scents, I could not imagine in the least how Aventus should finally smell. I asked myself: "What is it about Aventus that makes it attract so much attention?", "What justifies this high price?" and "What makes this perfume so special and noteworthy? To find out, I ordered a sample for about 8 Euro.

After it arrived at home on a Friday, my expectations were extremely high. Finally! A small 2,5ml tester with an inscription, whose name went very often through my head at this time: "Creed Aventus". Finally he was there. Finally I would understand what makes this smell, finally I had the opportunity to smell the allegedly best perfume and opened carefully the ampoule with the slightly yellowish shimmering liquid. I dripped a little on the back of my hand and waited a few seconds before I moved that nose. And then, finally, when I noticed the top note, it shocked me. For me, he just smelled like burnt wood. After old wet burnt wood. A world of faith collapsed within me. "That's him?" Stunned and irritated, I put the sample aside and tried to recover from this shock. I found him really disgusting and thought to myself, how can you like this garbage and distracted me by sitting down briefly at the Xbox and then preparing for a bigger birthday party in the evening.

I can't remember why or why, but it occurred to me to apply half of the rehearsal for the party after the shower and get ready to go out. Arrived there and a good 2 hours later, when most of the guests had arrived, it came. One compliment after another from my friends and I just thought to myself what the fuck. On the one hand I had completely forgotten that I had applied the sample to myself and on the other hand I thought to myself why my friends like this abnormal wooden smell so much and smelled again at my wrist. And this time it had knocked me over, this wooden scent had somehow developed into a heavenly citric vanilla chord with a smoky note and I was blown away. So there and away that I ordered the 120ml bottle the next day.

But why love-hate? Well this Friday is now a few years ago and the problem with Aventus are the batches on the one hand and the head notes on the other hand. Many people think this batch story is bullshit, but I can tell you that it actually varies from year to year and that it's pretty neat. My first bottle was a smoky creamy batch that I fell in love with and that lasted up to fourteen hours on my skin, but it hasn't been the same since it was empty. One bottle is more fruity, another one more balanced and without shit, I once had one that smelled like Nimm2 sweets and I hate those things above all. The current batch is fine but nothing compared to my first bottle. And then there's the top note. This, in my opinion, never smells so good right after spraying. Totally independent of the batch, it takes about one to two hours until Aventus develops properly and smells really pleasant. Then there are other negative aspects, like the high price, that Aventus is becoming more and more mainstream, that a splash too much can be too much for other noses, that I have not gotten any compliments for a perfume of almost 350€ since felt 3 years and so on

Like I said, I can't quite make up my mind. For me, this composition is a work of art, an understatement for masculinity. I don't know of any other fragrance that polarizes in such a way, that is so diverse and performs so well. But I don't know of any other fragrance where you have to compromise as much as Aventus.

Personally, this fragrance reminds me very much of my best friend Tim from school. Tim was the very rebellious, wild, alpha then. But not of the kind "dominance up to no more alpha animal goes", no he was rather someone whom one had gladly around itself and which pulled people again and again into its spell. He was always very cordial to others and defended the weaker against others, but could also become completely different when it came to it and that was the side that slightly outweighed it. In any case, through his manner and his actions, he always provided for new topics of conversation in our small hometown and Tim was gradually more and more mystified by the people.

What I want to say here, exactly as with Tim, an extreme mystification has developed at Aventus, which partly does not do him justice. Just as Tim is a normal person in the end, Aventus is a normal perfume with a strong, rebellious but also warm and unique character due to its notes.

And why under the starry sky? Because that's just what I have to think of when I smell Aventus. Sitting in a meadow on a warm, cloudless summer night, looking at the stars and thinking back at all the moments I had on my skin with my first Aventus, fascinates me. To my school days, to all the parties in summer, to all the beautiful moments and all the summer nights I have experienced, sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied.
