When the rose revealed its secret
At dawn on a rainy night, a young man walked through the rose garden, which was covered in a cloud of musky mist. He observed the roses, whose leaves and petals were covered with dewdrops. The scent in this place was captivating. It was like a mixture of the scent of dewy roses and a
carnation-like morning breeze that refreshed the heart.

It opens its petals to their fullest extent, as if to embrace the golden rays of the sun.

After the roses have awakened, the bees come and gently sting the roses to bring out the most beautiful nectar in them. At the end of the day, the scent of the roses fades and they close their petals to fall asleep in peace.

The young man watched this scene again and again. Every morning this garden was covered with a damp aura of musk. He watched and breathed in this enchanting scent and wondered why top perfumers associated the scent of roses with night and darkness. One day, the young man was near a rose. He wanted to caress its super-soft petals with his fingers in the hope of discovering its secret.

Suddenly, the young man heard the whistling sounds of a bulbul (nightingale). The young man's drunken heart churned as the bulbul stole his attention.
He turned away from the rose to look for the bulbul. In an extraordinary moment, this rose's neck elongated and she pressed a kiss to this man's cheek. She revealed her secret to him and said, "My secret is simplicity and lack of resistance to morning light and brightness. Wherever they are, I will open my petals and exude my fragrance joyfully.

The whole scene played out in my imagination while I was wearing "Lumière Noire". Francis Kurkdjian played the character of the young man who questioned the man-made link between rose and darkness and revealed the secret of the rose that always looked forward to the morning light. Perhaps this is the reason for the name "Lumière Noire" (light of darkness / black light)?

Lumière Noire starts with the very natural scent of roses. With the gentle fragrance that emanates from the heart of the rose when you walk past it. The rose is accompanied by a soft, fresh, carnation-like breeze. After about half an hour, the spices begin to signal their inconspicuous presence. Cumin and cinnamon, which are slightly, even very faintly present, indicate that Lumière Noire is not a purely spicy perfume. Patchouli forms a beautiful duo with the rose from the beginning to the end of the fragrance, accompanied by a musky background. This background becomes increasingly clear as the fragrance progresses towards the base.

Lumière Noire is one of the most beautiful rose perfumes for men and newcomers who are slowly but surely heading towards the world of roses.

Pure Virgin is simply beautiful
First of all, I would like to point out that my comment is based on a bottle from 2012 with the name "Pure Virgin".
According to research, the name of the perfume was later changed. Current versions are also said to be weak/inferior. However, I cannot confirm this, as I only own the old version.

Apart from a few exceptions, women's perfumes have been rather boring and of poor quality in recent years. Time and time again we've had to deal with repetition and platitudes.

Pure Virgin is one of these few exceptions. Yes, in my opinion, Pure Virgin is a women's fragrance. It is simply beautiful and offers enchanting glimpses that oscillate between modern and classic.

The smell of aldehydes in some perfumes can sometimes seem metallic, fishy and even rancid. The aldehydes contained in Pure Virgin, on the other hand, smell pleasant, even though they are synthetic molecules. In the case of Pure Virgin, those who dislike synthetics have no reason to dislike it.

The aldehydes take center stage to attract attention. They are a brilliant element to accomplish this task. The aldehydes are florally synthesized and provide a good introduction to the floral heart note of this fragrance, which is embodied by the enchanting trio - Linen Blossom - White Rose - Mimosa.

In the base, soft, creamy almonds meet powdery musk to create an almond cream. The candied oranges and melons provide a sweet note throughout the fragrance, which intensifies its longevity. Cedar wood rounds off the ingredients to complete the creation.

Pure Virgin is sweet and powdery and full of flowers. I think this combination will appeal to many women.

Oud combination standard met
I am generally a fan of oud and prefer it in fine blends.
However, the abundance of oud combinations makes my interest dwindle.

That's why, with two exceptions, I don't feel drawn to an oud perfume:
Exception #1 → Oud in its raw "stretch" state.
Exception no. 2 → Unusual oud combinations.

Under no circumstances am I interested in the usual and well-known combinations of oud - rose - saffron - incense - amber.

Midnight Oud is one of the hackneyed oud combinations that we have smelled many times before: Oud - Rose - Saffron. In this case, the usual oud combination norm has been strictly adhered to.

Like almost all of its peers, Midnight Oud is definitely a unisex fragrance, although it does its job better on women due to the intensity of the saffron.

Encre Noire Update
Refreshing opening of lavender and some citrus, but by no means lemony or sour. Citrus means nothing more than a refreshing bergamot.

The pungent nutmeg, which either harvests love or hate, is also present in the heart, as is the violet blossom, which is by no means the same as a cheerful floral fragrance. It is somewhat heavy and tends to have a woody scent.

Sandalwood is not perceptible in the base note; instead, cedarwood with its smoky notes is clearly present and greets us right from the start. Dry, smoked Indian vetiver steers the fragrance towards Lalique Encre Noire.

Contrary to the unisex classification, the fragrance is very masculine. The performance is satisfying.
Anyone who owns or knows Encre Noire will find Bois Bleu less innovative. Better said: Encre Noire + bergamot and lavender = Bois Bleu.

Beautiful, but confusing
During my decision-making process, I need an incentive to decide to buy an expensive perfume.

Two factors are particularly important here: it must be distinctive and perform strongly.

In terms of the quality and purity of the ingredients, Caftan is undoubtedly a good perfume
However, Calice Becker has been inspired by many oriental perfumes of a unique nature.

If you take a close look at Caftan, you will find traces of the following fragrances in the background: YSL M7, Gucci pour Homme (2003), Bentley for Men Intense.
Rather, the traits of Lupin's idols are present.

Caftan is oriental, resinous, warm, wintry. Beautiful, but nothing special and widely available on the perfume market. The performance is in the green zone. However, the previously mentioned perfumes are more long-lasting.

The purchase is worthwhile for those who do not have extensive collections of oriental fragrances or who have only recently become involved in the perfume world. For veterans, Caftan is not unique enough.
