Elegance and class in old freshness
The fragrance starts with a fresh, citrusy opening. The bergamot is very fresh and only slightly sweet.

A light spiciness from the nutmeg is quickly added, which has something slightly peppery for me. This is accompanied by lavender, which gives the fragrance a certain class and elegance.

I only notice the violet in the background, it gives the fragrance a certain depth, a slightly sweet and aromatic undertone.

The whole thing is carried by light woods, which become more and more apparent over time. The vetiver makes the fragrance slightly smoky and underlines the spiciness of the nutmeg.

Even though no leather is listed in the fragrance notes, the scent has something of Ganymede for me. For me, it is similarly classic and elegant, but more subtle and less overpowering and much fresher.
For me, a classic composition that calls out to be taken out to a restaurant or to exude its seriousness in the office.

Encre Noire Update
Refreshing opening of lavender and some citrus, but by no means lemony or sour. Citrus means nothing more than a refreshing bergamot.

The pungent nutmeg, which either harvests love or hate, is also present in the heart, as is the violet blossom, which is by no means the same as a cheerful floral fragrance. It is somewhat heavy and tends to have a woody scent.

Sandalwood is not perceptible in the base note; instead, cedarwood with its smoky notes is clearly present and greets us right from the start. Dry, smoked Indian vetiver steers the fragrance towards Lalique Encre Noire.

Contrary to the unisex classification, the fragrance is very masculine. The performance is satisfying.
Anyone who owns or knows Encre Noire will find Bois Bleu less innovative. Better said: Encre Noire + bergamot and lavender = Bois Bleu.

Wrong movie?
So often I had Bois Bleu already in a shopping basket and finally I was able to keep my cool not to shoot him blind. In spite of the experiences with the piguets, which were so far outstanding in my eyes, I was hesitant.
After a bottling of DonBlech it was clear: Everything done right!
Good thing I didn't buy blind! At first I thought of Villoresis Vetiver. Bitter, acidic, slightly woody, but thickly present Vetiver. Etro's vetiver came to my mind in the course of time. The new one with the silver cap, not the one with the gold one. But what did not come was the perception of the piguet DNA typical for me in many fragrances.

Whatever, Bois Bleu is a complete disappointment to me in that sense. When I see milestones in Bois Noir, Casbah and my beloved Cravache, Bois Bleu is a contemporary rider on the long flattened Vetiver wave.
Well done he is, no question. Not cheap water. But the proximity to the aforementioned is too striking for me. It's not a real Piguet to me. Too bad.

For the gentry, I think.
Strong violet but somehow they "class it up" with a supporting cast that seems simple on paper but is stellar on my skin.

People mention words like mature or old school when describing this, I can see that, strong violet scents tend to do that.

This to me though is concocted so well and crafted to mix and slowly change to something above average.

Violets then vetiver then woody.
