Instant good mood & Tobacco
I am a big fan of Tobacco Vanille smell, and after trying affordable alternatives like Phaedon or Al Haramain, I bought a Tom Ford.

My thoughts behind the purchase
- This is a very sweet and special scent, which is combining sweetness from Vanilla and Dried Fruits with dry Tobacco.
- I always liked this special, full of contrast scent, but could not justify the high price asked by Tom Ford when you have good alternatives on the market.
- A scent is a luxury item and for me not only the way it smells is important, but also the brand association, the story behind and the perfumer. The alternatives are missing this unfortunately.
- I must say that my new bottle smells very good, lasts a long time and has a decent silage. Cannot wait for the colder days.

Reminds me of? Amber Oud Tobacco, Tabac Rouge from Phaedon
Longevity / Silage: Over 8hrs longevity and good projection for hours
Versatility: It is a scent of contrast, sweet with spicy bitter notes, not Versatile
Seasons: It will shine in the colder months.
Score: 9 / 10 – This is an awesome smell which gives instantly a good mood, I like to wear it all the time. Priced decently, it would get a 10.

THE BEST designer scent on the market.
DHI is my first ever Dior perfume and my first bottle was purchased in 2011, since then I had three big 150ml bottles, this is the last one.

It has listed only 3 notes but it might also have a bit of sandalwood in the composition and something sweet: Florentine iris absolute, Ecuadorian ambrette seed, Virginia cedar

- When I first smelled this, over 12 years ago I fell in love with it instantly. This is a very complex and playful scent with an aura of mystery.
- The Iris is not feminine and the ambrette seed, which is a vegetal musk works wonders, it brings the imagination to life.
- The DHP is also very nice, but not as silky and playful as this one.
- It has a beautiful development, this is a bold scent which will fill a room. Since 2020 has a new package, but I think it is as great as before so no need to FOMO there for the older ones.

I think this will always stay into my collection, because it is complex, powdery, sweet but not gourmand and very manly. Plus the ladies like the lipstick smell of it, because it reminds them of their own make-up.

As a whole, this is a masterpiece from Master Demachy and most likely THE BEST designer scent on the market.

Can mister Kurkdjian do Dior ?
There is no doubt that MFK has changed the niche world forever and his nose, gave us many gems like Le Male, Eau Noire or Grand Soir.

The lightness of Ambre Nuit EDP, only needs a push, a kick to be stronger and longer lasting .. but the rest is quite perfect as it is.

I tested the "Esprit" on my arm, with two big sprays from an original sample and I allowed to breathe a little before I put my nose on the scent. What started very intense, was a similarity with African Leather from Memo, where the spicy notes from the Memo are beautifully transported into the Ambre Nuit. Only somewhere in the background there is some amber (Not ambergris like in the EDP), but very shy and will not say one single word.

The dry amber, will keep pushing for a few hours, bringing the whole context to the "Ambre Sultan / Mitzah / Akaad" teritory, which is absolutely gorgeous but never in the realm of 400€.

I like this creation, it has notes from perfumes I really like and it lasts very long, plus the silage is very decent .. but as with any cash grab from LVMH, this is madly overpriced and it is not what Francis should have done with the Ambre Nuit.

Amouage have done a much better job with Jubilation 40 and Interlude 53 .. to push their performance forward, increase the % of Oil and raise the price accordingly.

If it was under 300€ für the 75ml bottle, it was a good value proposition .. but it is not.

Not your typical patch - THE NEW Bottle
This is not your typical earthy patchouli, if you expect Coromandel, don´t because it starts with a strong rose, then evolves. My favorite ever patchouli scents are of course from Chanel, then followed by L´Instant de Guerlain pour Homme .. or Tempo from Dyptique, which are equally good.

Here you have a strong oriental start, almost Oud Rose .. with sweet Fig and spices, all of them.
The strong pepper smell with rose can put some people off, especially if you think it is a typical wet soil patch.

The longevity is out of this world, this scent will last forever and it´s the new bottle, so not reformulated or toned down at all.

It has a beautiful development, it develops into a smoky, woody & complex scent, like an aura of French sophistication.

I like these new bottles more vs the previous ones with a ribbon and I am impressed that Guerlain has not watered down this scent.

Much better than the rating
With G&B brand you can do no wrong, no matter what perfume you will buy. They are all well done and smell expensive, on top of that you have gems like Purple Suede or Silky Woods which are even more concentrated.

This scent here starts quite animalic, and there is a hint of oud right from the first sniff. On Parfum it is not mentioned this note but on the G&B Shop is in the summary of the notes.

When it evolves a bit and it gets into the drydown, it becomes a spicy, leathery awesome smell .. which reminds me a lot of Acqua di Parma Oud & Spice.

If they had a 50ml bottle, I guess I would get one, because I love it but it is too strong and animalic to use it as a daily.
