The American Style of Tea Ceremony
As a confessed tea drinker and tea lover, I naturally cannot overlook tea olfactorily. By now, I have had the opportunity to test quite a few tea fragrances, and this one has particularly stuck in my memory:
The opening is simply wonderful! Upon spraying, an incredibly original matcha note emerges, instantly transporting me back to Japan in a tea ceremony. Me, in a kimono, holding the steaming bowl of tea that my predecessor lovingly whisked with a bamboo whisk. A moment of tranquility. I have never experienced such a scent in a perfume before!
Unfortunately, the enjoyment is fleeting. Just as one is supposed to empty the matcha bowl in three sips, Replica has taken the experience too seriously, and already 10 minutes later, my bowl is empty.
In a real tea ceremony, sweets called Wagashi are also consumed. In this fragrance, a lot of sweetness comes through, but more in a creamy direction. The fragrance pyramid mentions white chocolate here. This bright sweetness is then mixed with white flowers. It sounds harmonious, and for me, it smells that way too!
This leads me to conclude that matcha is a niche tea. However, for matcha to expand its success in the modern world outside of traditional Japan, additives were necessary:
Milk and sugar.
As a matcha latte, green tea not only made its way into the modern cafes of Tokyo but also to America and Starbucks. And thus, to the whole world. The masses simply do not prefer bitter and herbaceous flavors but rather sweet ones. For this reason, Replica probably thought that the fragrance would be better received if it were not only bitter or, as some even say, "fishy."
Thus, the Japanese tea ceremony transformed into an American one: in a to-go cup with cream and sugar, accompanied by a piece of cake. First matcha, then jasmine tea. From bitter to gentle. From sharp to sweet.
Even though I wish the matcha note lasted much longer in this fragrance, I am still convinced by it. Despite everything, a harmonious and creamy-fine tea scent remains, which, unlike most tea fragrances, is not only wearable in summer.
Matcha latte may be a betrayal of the "original matcha," but it is still better than no matcha at all...
Thank you for reading! :-) And if you enjoy matcha or green tea with milk and jasmine, give this fragrance a try!

Childhood and Carrot Sunscreen
Does anyone still remember that one carrot sunscreen?
For me, it has been the epitome of summer since my childhood, as my mother always wore it, and of course, I did too. Unfortunately, it hasn't been available for purchase in Germany for a few years now. What a shame, because we loved the scent so much!
When I held my bottle of Nettare di Sole in my hand and sprayed it expectantly, that long-missed scent wafted back to me. And suddenly, the feeling of summer hit me: bathing at the beach, sand on the skin, feet in the grass, eyes closed.
Time stands still. Life shines.
And so it happened that the scent of childhood was once again in the air. I simply associate it with good mood and carefree joy. The scent of sunscreen is really not what one would first think of, but rather quite atypical: slightly bitter, yet also somewhat sweet, floral, and clean. More like a fresh breeze than cool water.
For me, it is very difficult to pinpoint individual fragrance notes here. Much more, this scent works universally and elegantly in its entirety. It is something special, and that makes it a wonderful summer companion for me. Additionally, the name is perfectly chosen, and the bottle is certainly an eye-catcher.
For me, this scent captures not only glances but also memories. Memories of vacations and beautiful moments in life.

Not what you think I am
It’s summer
I’m sitting on the beach of the Côte d’Azur
among the beautiful and wealthy
A sundowner in hand
My feet in the sand
wearing a white dress
so my tanned skin shines
The illusion is perfect
But it’s not real
Actually, I’m not rich at all
And not as special as I’d like to be
Now I have to pay off my vacation credit
- All in all, it’s a nice fragrance with a great citrus-creamy opening, but then it drifts into the mainstream and gets lost in the masses of sunscreen scents. Stylish bottle, but in my opinion, the price does not match the performance in terms of S/H or the fragrance itself.

Mild Summer Night
Since I can't resist tonka bean, I simply had to try this fragrance!
Deep Garden is a surprising scent for me: From the very first moment, I notice a different kind of sweetness. Not fleeting and inconspicuous - but more mature and definitely not run-of-the-mill! The name truly fits here; it is a fragrance with depth. I smell an arrangement of almost ripe tuberose combined with the grounding tonka bean and a lovely hint of sweet pear. The combination works very well for me; everything comes together pleasantly. It also lasts unusually long on the skin for a fragrance in its price range. I enjoy wearing it on the first warm evenings of this year…

Mon Amour
I have a special comment about this fragrance:
Before my passion for perfumes began, I only tried scents that captivated me with their bottles. Mon Guerlain would not have attracted me back then, as the bottle is simply too unremarkable (-only now do I realize that it underscores the classic, straightforward, and elegant facets of this fragrance). And I certainly would not have thought that I would like lavender in a perfume, or even find it sensual.... But then I received a sample and was able to smell this fragrance for the first time... I liked it very much even back then, but as a teenager, it was simply too expensive for me, and I didn't take it seriously.
However, I never forgot it. A long time later, I found the empty plastic bottle again and tried to get the last drop of sweet nectar from Mon Guerlain. A final fine mist reached my nose, and I found it really beautiful again.
At least a year later, I became a member of Parfumo, and my love for perfumes reached a new level. I still had Guerlain in the back of my mind, saw it pop up, and noticed these top ratings. It was immediately clear to me that I absolutely had to try it! When the first perfumeries reopened here, I was there on the very first day for my Guerlain test. And as soon as it was (forbiddenly) on my wrist, I remembered it again:
This fragrance! You beautiful, sensual fragrance! Spicy, but not heavy, sweet, but not sticky, sexy, noble, elegant, mature, without being bitchy or distant. No, you are so close and whispering with a smile: "Come to me, I give you my love in the form of a hug!" I have never associated a fragrance with the feeling of love like this.
You can imagine, I was still sniffing the sweater that had absorbed Mon Guerlain for days after the test! From that moment on, it was clear, I am ready. Finally, my Guerlain will belong to me. Mon Amour! And I want to be as good a person in my heart as my perfume smells.
Thank you for reading! :)
