A Bitter Orange Winter Fragrance
I gifted myself Oranges Bigarades last Christmas. It was a blind buy based on such an enticing description that I simply had to treat myself to this fragrance - albeit only the small version.

And it did not disappoint me, quite the opposite: I didn't wear it much last winter, but this year it has become one of my absolute favorite winter scents! Yes, that's right, I don't see it in summer and not necessarily in spring either, but rather in autumn and winter. However, during those seasons, it suits me perfectly!

I also cannot fully agree with the classification as citrus-fresh. Citrus yes, fresh only to a certain extent, rather spicy, in that regard I definitely agree with the description from Duftsucht in their comment.

The opening features a very prominent, juicy bitter orange, which, together with bergamot, offers a wonderful citrus-herb fragrance experience. A slight sweetness becomes perceptible in the background as it develops, but really just a hint, so the scent never comes across as overpowering. After a while, the aroma of black tea joins in, and the fragrance becomes spicier. And so it remains relatively long-lasting for me, enveloping me in a lovely, warm veil. It is a truly wonderful composition with a high recognition value, perfectly balanced, nothing is too much and nothing is too little.

If you are looking for a winter fragrance that smells of oranges and completely avoids gourmand notes and Christmas baking - here it is!

Every wish, even unfulfilled, instantly gets younger...
Angua's comment on "Oranges Bigarades" sounded so enticing that, seized by a fierce desire for fragrance, I rushed to Karstadt during my lunch break. Without much hope of actually finding the exclusive line from Lancome there. But lo and behold: Another prejudice must be laid aside, there they stood in rows and lines: The bottles in all their golden-floral splendor - and Oranges Bigarades quickly made its way onto my wrist. The scent begins with quite a powerful top note - nothing shy about it: But cheerful and buoyant for sure. The bitter-citrusy smell of candied orange peel (called Aranzini in Austria) fills my nose, but not scratchy, rather juicy and spiced with a distinct hint of bergamot. This immediately lifts my spirits and gives me a real boost of energy. After a while, the scent becomes a bit more bitter, the tea comes to the fore: To me, it smells like Earl Grey mixed with very strong black tea. Bitter, but not harsh - and again, it’s an additional component that keeps the scent fresh. Woody pepper also mixes in - and I think I can smell ginger too.
Citrusy-green doesn’t seem like the right classification for the fragrance direction. For me, it would be citrus-spicy - woody.
An extremely fine, balanced, unobtrusive fresh scent with a high recognition factor - rightly described by the saleswoman as a “first-class wellness feel-good fragrance”! Since I was testing “Jasmins Marzipane” from the same series on the other wrist, which completely blew me away, “Oranges Bigarades” had a tough time in this test. However, it passed the challenge with flying colors - and now I have a decision problem and two more fragrances on my unfulfillable, constantly growing fragrance wish list!

Orange Tea Refreshes and Delights
Hello you sniffers and welcome to my commentary on Oranges Bigarades from the exclusive Lancôme fragrance line "Maison Lancôme". I received a sample of this scent and I must say that just based on its notes (the fragrance notes listed), it could very well suit my taste if it’s well made.

Because I like… well, I think I don’t need to emphasize this anymore, you know that I’m into tea scents, and also notes like oranges, hmm…

That’s why I particularly enjoy testing this kind of fragrance, because there might actually be something for me in it instead of always just something for you (ladies), when I present another women’s fragrance (which I always do just for you, you ungrateful monsters! :D). And especially tea and orange sound absolutely perfect for warm days, like we have more often in spring (Yes! It’s true, even though the last few days have been cooler and rainier, we are surely just a stone's throw away from the next heatwave! :D). So I hope the scent is great too! Although my feeling is generally positive, as the Maison Lancôme Collection often offers good fragrances. So, let’s sniff!

The Fragrance:
At first, I smell citrus notes, especially oranges. These smell like the delicious pulp and therefore do not have that slightly bitter scent of the peel of these fruits, even though bitter orange should be listed here (at least that’s how it seems to me). In addition, there is a wonderful tea note that you can actually smell well, which makes me happy, as tea sometimes comes across as quite weak.
Pepper adds a small, spicy note. It is subtle, so it doesn’t come across as sharp, but you can still perceive its scent, even if only for a short time.
For a while, it stays that way, with the pepper gradually fading away.
In the base, the fragrance doesn’t change much anymore, as I can still smell oranges (now a bit more bitter) and the tea, but everything is just quite weak.
Overall, a rather nice, fresh scent.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is above average and thus, at least up close, still somewhat pleasant to smell, although not for long. The longevity is quite okay, on me the scent lasted seven to eight hours.

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and made of thick glass. The fragrance liquid is pink-orange. On one side, there is a golden shimmering metal plaque with the name and brand. On one side, there is another plaque, but this one has beautiful floral patterns cut out. Viewed through the bottle, these patterns also look very nice. The cap is cylindrical and white. Like all bottles in the Maison Lancôme line, this bottle is also very beautiful to look at.

Conclusion:
Yes, I had already thought that this fragrance could be a great scent and yes, I was not disappointed. Sure, the sillage could, like with all fragrances of this kind (i.e., tea and citrus), be much more intense, but well, that’s just how it is, and one must live with it, like it or not. But still, the scent is very, very nice and fits perfectly as a casual or everyday fragrance for spring and especially summer with its fresh, relaxed scent.

A test is absolutely recommended, unless of course, you are brain-dead and don’t like the scent of tea and oranges… how can you not like it? Ugh, instead, you prefer something disgusting like cumin or coriander, yuck! :D

And that’s about it for today, I know my comment was short this time, but hey, I can’t always write lengthy texts where half of it is just complaining about you ladies, can I? Unless you give me permission to do so, mu ha ha ha :DD
So then, have a nice evening :)

For me, a tea scent (Brewing time: 3 minutes)
What I particularly like about Oranges Bigarades is the invigorating bitter freshness of a strong, not overly steeped black tea. I can clearly smell a good dash of bergamot, which gives the tea its Earl Grey freshness. Orange as juice or fruit takes more of a back seat, but it seems to me that orange blossoms very subtly and gently make their presence known, along with a hint of bitter neroli. The most exciting aspect of this fragrance for me is the sweetness. I am very cautious with sweet scents; they don’t suit me. However, the sweetness in Oranges Bigarades comes across to me as a very light and non-sticky sweetness, somewhat like glucose that dissolves quickly and provides energy. It is completely different from the syrupy or dessert-like sweetness found in gourmand fragrances. Speaking of which: I don’t find the scent creamy and I also don’t detect any vanilla.
I deduct a few points for a slight artificiality in the later development of the scent.
For me, it’s not just a summer fragrance; it works all year round.

in a lively change of step through summer
Summer is taking a break!
It hasn't spoiled us too much so far, and now, gallantly as it is, this summer gives precedence to the "sheep cold": It even opens wide all the doors for it!
The cold west wind, often in hurricane-like gusts, makes me shiver and actually makes me search for a warm, smoke-filled fragrance cave; but I am defiant and therefore rummage through the pouch with the lighter, summery scent samples.

So I finally find "Oranges Bigarades" by Lancôme; not really my favorite brand, but it's worth a try:
"I can always grumble if necessary!" growls the diva in me.

But, oh! What is this delightful scent?
A cloud of wonderful, lightly spiced Ceylon tea with Black Pepper surrounds me, and the harmoniously intertwined citrus aromas bring pure cheerfulness!
Just the right dosage: not too sweet-sticky, too zesty-biting, but balanced by a cleverly added portion of bitter oranges into a very charming summer cocktail that makes you crave more!

Thus, a light, transparent summer fragrance develops that simply spreads joy and is not too fleeting, but possesses a pleasant richness of aroma.
This fragrance experience lifts the mood (even if not the outside temperatures) and has already achieved its goal for today: My mood is improving a bit!

And for the hopefully still upcoming summer days, this not so meager sample of "Oranges Bigarades" will be a cheerful, not so everyday companion.

What irritates me are the subtle orange blossom notes that aren't listed but clearly complement the fruit: very beautiful and minimalist.

I usually don't like orange scents. This one is different, very special, summery, smelling of tea, vacations, and the south.

Noble tea refined with orange zest. A hint of pepper adds a nice spice without being overpowering. Beautifully balanced and not too sweet.

Sweet O-flowers, powder, oily rubber, leather, smoky tea... It's as little fresh as it sounds. But great. Noble summer night fragrance.

A dreamily beautiful summer scent. The combo of juicy/creamy oranges mixed with a pinch of pepper and black tea is just great!
