A winter fairy tale
Short review at the bottom by⬇
When I smelled it for the first time, my sense of smell was completely distorted and I only admired the elegant bottle, which seemed to be modeled on a cognac glass.
The second time I tested it, it looked like this:
I'm sitting in the back seat of the station wagon, 99 Luftballons is playing at top volume, I'm admiring the top speeds of the sports cars in my quartet for the umpteenth time and wondering when we'll finally get off the highway - bang - I must have fallen asleep. At Dad's request, I get out of the car and run to the front door, pressing the doorbell in anticipation.
Grandpa opens the door, gives me a warm hug and puts my head against his round belly in an attempt to embrace him completely.
"Hello sweeties!"
It's Grandma and she's got her baking glove on... I know what's coming and it's one of the main reasons why this 4-hour drive is worth it every time - at least in winter.
"Apple pie is ready, my dears," she says later, as we all sit down at the table, but I've been aware of the aroma of the cozy, warm pastry wafting from the oven through the kitchen and living room to the dining table for a long time - since I sat down, to be precise - no, actually, since I walked in.
As I plunge onto my piece, which stands on the oak table in front of me, I also take in its smell, as well as that of the leather cover of my executive chair at the head of the table, which I sink into slightly.
The cinnamon and sugar garnish of the cake, which is enriched with real vanilla pods from Madagascar as well as vanilla sugar from Dr Oetker and natural vanilla flavoring, smells just as wonderful and I have to wrinkle my nose because I have inhaled so deeply that I have got some cinnamon in my nose, but this will not cause me any further difficulties when I eat the second piece, as they will gradually melt away.
Grandpa isn't an alcoholic, which is why he doesn't drink cognac at 3pm, but it still smells of cognac in here - I'll find out why later when Grandma reveals that dear Falko, the Dalmatian who also likes to mess with food, had knocked over the cupboard with the spirits beforehand, which is why the table was now soaked with cognac.
~~~~~End~~~~~
For me, Angel's Share is a more than welcome trip back to my childhood and the cooler months of the year, when I like to indulge in a delicious apple pie. I like to spray it in my suitcase to feel the nostalgia on business trips. The fragrance lasts well and for a long time, with a pleasantly strong sillage and a beautiful fragrance gradient, in which sometimes more and sometimes less of the cognac can be smelled.
The flacon should not be neglected in the evaluation, as it looks quite charming, but for me it is of secondary importance.
Leather executive chair father of Dior Homme Intense
I don't personally own [Dior Homme Parfum], and I don't plan to change that in the next 15 years - that's for starters.
This is by no means to say that I don't like it, but I still feel too young and see this more masculine, more grown-up version of [Dior Homme Intense] more as a perfume that dignified men would wear from the age of 45, perhaps even a few more years.
The [Dior Homme Parfum] is definitely special, even among its range, as it exudes a kind of class and style as soon as you spray it on. The powdery-sweet iris, for which the Dior Homme left is known, immediately makes a noticeable appearance, while a subtle leather note joins in unobtrusively, adding to the masculinity of the fragrance and giving it a mysterious touch.
The fragrance continues when the top note with its iris slowly recedes and gives way to notes of tight leather, while my ideal scent of amber is also added. This fragrance composition, illustrated by the tan and texture of the leather, is wrapped in a golden cloak of melting resin (=> amber) interspersed with brown lines and dots. The seductive cloak that an experienced man throws on a romantic evening for a special occasion, captivating his companion with its scent.
Arriving at the solid base of [Dior Homme Parfum], this masterpiece now fully reveals itself. Late in the evening, as the evening draws to a close, the fragrance continues to radiate its remaining radiance in the base for a long time, where a certain orientalism can be recognized, through, as is known for Dior, the softest oud nuances accompanied by pleasant sandalwood, whereby it is by no means smoky, but rather warm and earthy, matching the motif of the base of the fragrance.
Hard facts and figures (if you like to call them that:
On the 4 times I've worn this fragrance now for a few evenings, the scent has done extraordinary things for me- with a longevity of 5pm to 2am- and last smells before the shower at 7am- the scent is a true beast, especially when you consider how off and balanced the scent is as a whole.
Conclusion:
I don't recommend the fragrance for everyday wear, although I wouldn't find it unsuitable on a man of ~60, at least in the COLDER seasons.
The fragrance requires a SELF-CONFIDENT man, and I mean that. Anyone who is not self-confident does not wear the fragrance, but is worn by it (that should sound negative).
Afterword: My first review, so please let me know if this was too long or digressive and what can be done better. I also apologize for the commas, as I don't quite know how to put them ;)
