Green as rosemary
The shop in A. is small: it goes out directly onto the waves, from where the sun shines in, and on the other side onto the airy, lively alley. Mediterranean. And you want me to smell honey with pepper and incense? The extremely knowledgeable and charming lady brings honey from Arabia - in a green bottle. Oh, yeah, I asked for green. In expectation of sweet balm - which I don't want at all - I smell red pepper first and am glad that I have to look for the honey. After a short while - he is just a bit viscous - he still appears, slightly herbaceous. A rather spicy scent swings pleasantly and softly over the skin, quite comfortably, until suddenly a pointed, sour tone stings up. Very irritated about this rather unappetizing twist I copy the scent mentally. Since the conversation and the assortment are too interesting, I don't immediately jump to the washbasin - and it's worth it. The acidity's gone, rosemary's coming out: The intense fragrance of the young, fine rosemary needles, sticky from the oil, underlaid with coniferous wood. And he stays that way for a very long time. Now he belongs in this area: rocks with rosemary over the sea, the wind carries some salt, the sun heats the needles and cones on the ground. Harsh green. I'd have to look for honey long after that - but I don't want to.

Wanderlust
A basement place in B., a long time ago. The fellow student sprays something on the table and holds his lighter to the track. A little blouse flame crawls across the table, smelling of light wood and warm herbs, of heather. Sustainable...
Only my budget prevented me from buying then. The name brought back the smell much, much later: Phileas. Now the availability hinders the purchase, until a 30ml copy EdT was found on a platform.
In the nose a strongly concentrated Sir Irish moss (also very old, I know), on the skin artificial at first, somewhat sharp, sweetish in rapid change: actually disappointing, so far away from spontaneous smell and memory. Then change to beeswax, and Herbes slowly emerges. The sun-warm herbs spread, mossy, warm forest soil. The attempt to smell the scent components leads again and again to moss and then to cool, old leather. Spices are only very discreetly perceptible, moss and leather predominate. It smells like travel. Sustainable - still.

Like a sharp cut
A rainy day in B, the perfume store in Sousol. An elegant, dark red leather case attracts my attention. The bottle next to it isn't so pretty red. "Rudis" explain the label and the salesman... rudi's? No, Latin. I see. Remove the lid and smell the sprayer. There's the picture:
The cork is pulled out of the bottle, still moist from the wine it smells fresh and cool. There's some salt in the air. A shady place by the sea? The view into the distance and - in hot sand, somewhere is movement, dust rises. It's hot and dry... Drive for action despite the heat.
It must have been a sharp cut to step into freedom as a gladiator, with a warm wooden sword in his hand, and to drink fresh wine for the first time without worries.
My decision was right there. With Rudis in my hand I stepped outside.
On the many hot summer days of this year Rudis was on my skin: bright and motivating.
