The Scent of Gold

What does gold smell like? Is it a metal smell, or is it a dripping warm scent, like gold’s original hue? image

Many perfumes imitate sounds, lands, feelings and memories. But is there any perfume that brings to mind pure, 22 karat gold? I tend to think that perfumes that imitate gold will not have the word “gold” in their names. It should be a perfume full of character, warm sands, a silky feel, deep woods.

One perfume that comes to mind is Sands of Aqaba. image

Aqaba is a famous city in Jordan. The original Aqaba perfume is spicy and traditionally oriental, but Sands of Aqaba go beyond spice–it is blowing desert sands and dry wood. It is darkly dripping wood and golden dust.

The feeling of wearing precious gold is very intimate. If the gold item is an anklet or charm baracelet, the chiming of the gold accomapnies us throughout our day. If the gold item is a pair of chandelier earrings, the light catches the golden sparks as the small links caress our necks.

Gold is a precious commodity, so weather we wear it as jewelry or as perfume, the decadence of the act of being covered in gold is priceless.
