Winter Ritual: Perfuming Your Shawl

With winter in full swing, one pleasurable aspect of the cold for me is to be able to wear shawls every day. Cashmere, silk, wool, even rayon shawls feel comforting and beautiful. They can be worn simply for a work look, or more sophisticated, for an evening out. image

Wrapping a shawl is a ritual which every woman performs according to her own wishes. Perfuming the shawl is also a personal journey which can lend the wearer an added glint of allure.

Pashminas have a very exotic look and can be purchased for low prices. Perfume your pashmina with exotic scents such as amber, wood, spice, and deep sweet tones. Use these multi-hued scarves over simple black clothing items.

On the other hand, if you prefer a more demure look, choose a wrap that has a cultured look, like plaid and houndstooth. Scent these with modern and lighter perfumes.

For daring types, use a red or bright pink pashmina, and scent it heavily with roses or flower waters.

Remember to always scent your scarf a different scent than you wear on your body. That way, as long as the two scents don’t clash, you will have an alternating scent as you go about your day. image
