Revelation
Perfect beauty
through shadow and light
pierce my soul
flows into the sea of tears

Blurred in the distance
To see your radiance
You carried me for a long time
i would like to go there

Once again I would like to take you with me for a little while, to times long past.
-Back then I was a young girl.
One day, I started an internship in a retirement home where time seemed to stand still.
The wooden, creaking floors took me into a world I had never known before.
There was a count to whom we bowed reverently, and only selected staff were allowed to enter his room.
There was also the old hatter, who happily twirled his two canes, and a prompter whose lipstick and rouge were always applied a little askew.
-And then I met Miss S.. A charming old lady with shiny, snow-white, long hair that always smelled a little spicy.
She radiated an incredible calmness when she sat at her table in front of her old sewing machine.
She still decorated the old chapel with roses, jasmine and lilacs. Sometimes she made beautiful moss arrangements.
I spent every spare second with her. Sometimes we just sat there holding hands and were silent. A close bond developed between us and she always called me "my dear child".
A whole time passed like that.
One day I was on late shift. There was a lot of commotion on our ward and the older nurses tried to stop me from going to Miss S.
She was in a coma and it was clear that she was going to die.
But no one could hold me back.
I sat at her deathbed for hours, crying. I couldn't understand that my favorite person was dying. I prayed all the time and felt lonely and lost.
At one point I laid my head on her bed.
Then something happened that changed my life forever.
A gentle hand stroked my head. Miss S. had woken up once again.
She whispered softly: "My dear child, let me go to the castle over the golden bridge."
A warm shiver ran through my whole body.
The sun shone brightly into the room. I was overcome with a feeling of happiness that I had never known before
I knew that she was going to a place where she was happy.
I myself was filled with love and confidence
This experience has accompanied my whole life.

For me, Mitsouko is the scent of that time. It reminds me of the smells in old people's homes.
At the same time, it has an incredible depth. The interplay of happiness and melancholy is what makes it so perfect for me.

Sometimes miracles still happen
Legend has it that the Indian Great Mogul fell in love with a beautiful woman whom he called "Muntaz Mahal". She became his most loyal companion and advisor.
After the birth of her 14th child, she died.
"The chosen one of the palace", expressed a last wish, she wanted a mausoleum to be built for her.
in 1631, construction of the "Taj Mahal" began on the banks of the Yamana River at Agra.

In 1983, I did an internship in a home for the elderly. I loved my work and my life was filled with joy and gratitude.
One day, a handsome doctor from India showed up at our home. He was also doing an internship in the same facility because his exams were not yet recognized in Germany.
As the ward manager took him under her wing, we hardly spoke a word to each other. Every now and then we smiled at each other and my heart beat wildly.
On his last day at work in our hospital, he asked me to accompany him to the changing room.
He gave me a lovingly wrapped present as a farewell gift and said: "This scent will always remind me of you".
The package contained a bottle of Ellen Betrix de Soir. I loved the fragrance from the very first second. It became my signature fragrance for many years and I never wore another until one day it was discontinued.
I never met the doctor again and the precious fragrance seemed lost forever.

On my birthday, I was sent a lovingly wrapped gift.
- a dear, young friend from "Parfumo" got me "Ellen Betrix Soir"! It is a rarity that has actually still retained its fragrance.
Tears of emotion and deep gratitude fill my heart. I will treasure my precious treasure forever.

" Ellen Betrix " is a vintage fragrance from the 1980s.
It was unfortunately discontinued decades ago.
For me, it is a masterpiece of the perfumer's art.
It has a strong chypre character that begins with fruity green top notes.
The heart note unfolds its elegance lush, floral and unites with the base, with oakmoss, leather, civet and musk.
At the time, it had above-average longevity and the fragrance was still perceptible after 24 hours.

I would like to say a big thank you to @Castbreeder. Without him, this review would never have been written!

Memories that fade
Tell me where the hippies are
where have they gone?
Flower-Power Sandelwind
what has happened?

Through patchouli flower child
still walks in the musk wind
when will we ever understand?
when will we ever understand?

Sometimes I still think wistfully of the past. The world seemed a bit more colorful and friendly back then.
My youth was strongly influenced by the hippie era. There were brightly painted VW buses, ducks and R4s everywhere on the streets. In the city garden, long-haired men and women sat together. They wore Indian cotton dresses and pluderhosen and their children played in colorful sewn dresses. Every now and then you could hear guitar music. It was common to just sit down and strangers became friends.
My youth and my later life would certainly have been very different if I hadn't experienced that time. I can still remember sitting in dark cellars and philosophizing about the meaning of life. We read Siddharta by Hermann Hesse and listened to music on our cassette recorders or record players. There were mattresses on the floor and the air was thick with incense sticks that smelled of sandalwood, musk and patchouli. What had our predecessors achieved for us? - in 1961, the pill came onto the market. 1968 saw the women's movement with Alice Schwarzer and her Emma. It was the time of the sexual revolution.
1955-1975 then the cruel Vietnam War, from which the youth protests and finally the peace movement emerged." Imagine all the People" sang John Lennon and the whole music changed. Blues, rock and folk music emerged.
The great Woodstock Festival, at which Joan Baez, Jimmy Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Santana and many others performed.
-I don't just want to gloss over this time. The drug use of many also cost a number of victims.
But what does all this have to do with Le Bain? - The scent reminds me very much of the fragrances from back then. The powdery-floral gourmand is very intense. Unlike in the past, it gives me a headache today..
All in all, I have to say: "Youth was beautiful!" I wish each and every one of you could also experience such a carefree time.
Finally, let's sing a song:
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.......
(Joan Baez and Bob Dylan)
